New York’s Billionaires Are Bending the Knee to Zohran Mamdani

The billionaire mogul Bill Ackman has suddenly become a big fan of Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected mayor of New York City. In fact, he's offered to help him out - if only for Mamdani to call and say thank you.

Ackman was once an outspoken critic of Mamdani, even going so far as to fund a super PAC with a multi-million dollar budget to take down the candidate. But after Mamdani won in a landslide election, Ackman decided that he'd rather just send over a check and pretend like everything is fine.

The move has been described by some as 'gimp-like', but Ackman seems to be taking his newfound friendship with Mamdani very seriously. After all, when you've spent tens of millions trying to take down someone, it's nice to have them come crawling back into your arms.

Other high-rollers are also jumping on the bandwagon, including JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and crypto billionaire Mike Novogratz. It seems that even the rich and powerful can't resist a good underdog story - especially when it involves a Muslim mayor who's managed to defeat them at their own game.

Of course, not everyone is happy with Mamdani's newfound friendships with these billionaires. Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, has yet to comment on the news, while Bloomberg has remained eerily quiet.

As for how this will all play out in terms of governance and big business response, only time will tell. But one thing's for sure - it's a giddy feeling to see these titans of industry sweating and apologizing for their past behavior. And who knows? Maybe Mamdani will actually manage to leave them on read for good. Stranger things have happened.

can you imagine the ultimate comeuppance when someone gets taken down by the people they thought were above them? it's like bill ackman and his crew just got served with a big ol' plate of humility 😂. i mean, who doesn't love an underdog story, especially one that involves a muslim mayor taking on the fat cats and coming out on top? 🙌 it's like they say, "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"... or in this case, your past enemies 👊. i'm low-key rooting for mamdani to keep them on their toes and not let them get too comfortable 💁‍♀️. fingers crossed he can make a real difference and show these billionaires that there's more to governance than just lining pockets 🤑

omg can u belive bill ackman is now best buds w/ zohran mamdani 😂 like he went from tryin to take him down 2 just sendin a check 4 forgiveness lol i guess u c what happens wen u spend millions tryna destroy someone & then they end up helpin u out 🤑 anyway, looks like Jamie Dimon & Mike Novogratz are also feelin the love 🤝 seems like these high-rollers are suckers 4 underdog stories esp when its a muslim mayor who took 'em down 👏 lets see how this plays out in gov & big biz 💸

🤦‍♂️ Can't believe the ultimate troll, Bill Ackman, is now just buttering up Zohran Mamdani with a quick cash offer 🤑😂 I mean, after being super salty about him winning in the first place, it's pretty rich to see Ackman suddenly want to be BFFs 💁‍♂️🤝. But hey, you've got to hand it to Mamdani - taking down Ackman and coming out on top must have been a major confidence booster 💪! And now, all these bigwigs are crawling back like the ultimate #WokeUpAndLived 🌟💥...it's definitely an interesting time for NYC governance 🗽👀.

I'm lovin' this underdog story! 😂 On one hand, it's like Bill Ackman is finally learning that sometimes you gotta let go of the rope and just smile at the fact that your investment didn't pay off. He could've kept burning bridges, but instead he chose to show up with a check and a "you're welcome" attitude.

I think this shift in attitude is actually a huge lesson for all of us - even when we feel like we're losing out on something or someone, it's often because we were so focused on winning that we forgot how to be gracious winners. Ackman could've kept fighting Mamdani all the way to the ground, but instead he chose to elevate him to a higher plane. And you know what? I think that's actually more impressive than any amount of money or influence! 💸

🤔 I'm loving this unexpected turn of events! Bill Ackman going from super PAC-backed critic to silent benefactor is pure gold 🍫 for the people, and it's amazing to see him and other high-rollers scrambling to make amends with Zohran Mamdani 👏. It's like they're trying to rebrand themselves as "philanthropists" 🌟, but honestly, let's not get too caught up in the PR spin 💁‍♀️. This is a huge opportunity for Mamdani to show us what he's really made of and lead some real change 🔄! Can't wait to see how this plays out on the governance front 👀

omg, this is wild 🤯... Ackman just went from trying to take down Mamdani to being a "friend" all of a sudden... it's like he's playing the victim and expecting gratitude 😂... anyone think Mamdani's gonna actually use that cash or just keep it on his shelf? 💸

🤔 I gotta say, this is wild! Bill Ackman going from being a super PAC-funded critic to just sending over a check and wanting a shoutout - it's like he's changed his mind about being the "villain" 🤑 And those high-rollers jumping on the bandwagon? I mean, they're trying to be all buddy-buddy with Zohran Mamdani now... but is this just a publicity stunt or do they really want to support him? 💸 I'm curious to see how it all plays out. Maybe we'll finally get some meaningful change in NYC 🗽

🤑 The rich aren't always as powerful as they think 💸. Ackman's sudden about-face is kinda cool, in a weird way 🤔. I mean, who wouldn't want to be friends with the new mayor of NYC? Maybe he just realized that money can't buy everything 😏. And it's fun to see these high-rollers eating their words and apologizing for trying to take him down 💁‍♂️. It's like they're saying sorry for being wrong, not sorry for being rich 🤑. Either way, it's a nice change of pace from the usual drama and scandals. Let's just hope Mamdani uses his new "friends" to make a real difference in the city 🌆.

I'm lovin' this underdog story 🤩, especially with the billionaire turnabout! Bill Ackman's sudden change of heart is a major win for transparency and accountability in politics 🙌. It's great that he's taking responsibility for his past actions and wanting to make amends - I mean, who wouldn't want a personal thank you from Zohran Mamdani? 😊 The fact that other big-wigs like Jamie Dimon and Mike Novogratz are jumping on the bandwagon just shows that even the powerful can learn from their mistakes 🤓. And let's be real, it's a bit of an ego boost for Mamdani to have these high-rollers eating out of his hand - I'm sure he'll definitely leave them feeling gimp-like 😂! But seriously, this is a great reminder that people can change and grow, and that even the most unlikely friendships can lead to positive outcomes 💕.
