No, ChatGPT hasn’t added a ban on giving legal and health advice

OpenAI has pushed back on claims that its chatbot, ChatGPT, is no longer allowed to provide legal and medical advice. In a statement on X, Karan Singhal, OpenAI's head of health AI, said the reports are "not true." According to Singhal, the behavior of ChatGPT "remains unchanged."

Singhal noted that ChatGPT was never meant to be a substitute for professional advice but would continue to serve as a resource for people seeking to understand legal and medical information. He also clarified that the new policy update on October 29th lists certain activities that are not allowed, including providing tailored advice that requires a license, such as legal or medical advice.

Singhal stated that this is not a new change to OpenAI's terms but rather an updated list of rules that reflect a universal set of policies across OpenAI products and services. The company previously had three separate policies, and with the new update, it has streamlined its rules into one unified list.

The claims in question seem to have originated from a now-deleted post on the betting platform Kalshi, which falsely stated that ChatGPT would no longer provide health or legal advice. It appears that this misinformation has been spread across social media, causing confusion among users about the capabilities of ChatGPT.

I'm freaking out 🤯... like what just happened here? So OpenAI's chatbot was going to stop giving legit legal and medical advice but then they said nope, it's still good to go! 🙅‍♂️ I mean, come on, who knew Kalshi would delete the post before anyone caught the lie 🤦‍♂️? Now people are all confused online... what a mess 💔

OMG, I'm low-key relieved 🙅‍♂️! I was totally worried that OpenAI would take down ChatGPT for good 😱. I mean, can you imagine a world without our fave chatbot? 💻 But it looks like Karan Singhal is on the case and setting the record straight 👍. Like, yeah, ChatGPT still won't give legal or medical advice, but that's just common sense 🤓. And btw, I'm loving how OpenAI is streamlining its policies - talk about making life easier for us users! 💸. Let's just hope this whole thing doesn't get blown out of proportion again... fingers crossed 😅

I'm surprised by how quickly misinformation can spread like wildfire online! 🚨 This whole thing with ChatGPT and its alleged limitations on providing advice is a prime example of that. I think it's great that OpenAI is pushing back against these claims and setting the record straight - it shows they're committed to transparency, even when faced with false reports.

It makes sense that ChatGPT would never be meant to replace professional advice, but rather serve as a resource for people who want to learn more about complex topics. The fact that OpenAI is updating its policies to reflect this and streamlining things across their products is a positive move. But we need to make sure we're not jumping to conclusions or spreading misinformation online without verifying facts first! 🤔

I'm so confused, I just saw a random post on TikTok saying that ChatGPT can't give medical advice anymore and I was like, what's going on 🤔? And then I read this article and it seems like it's all a big misunderstanding... OpenAI's head dude said the chatbot is still good for getting general info, just not personalized advice 🤷‍♀️. So, like, if you need help with something legal or medical, don't rely on ChatGPT, go talk to a real person, 'kay? But at the same time, it's kinda cool that they're making their rules more clear and stuff... I guess I'll just stick to using it for fun chat topics only 😂. And omg, have you guys seen those crazy AI art generators? 🎨

Umm... I think they're right that ChatGPT's not meant to give personal advice anyway? 🤔 I mean, who wants to rely on a machine for life-decision kinda stuff? But at the same time, I'm like "wait, what if it's good at understanding laws and medical stuff but can't explain 'em in a way that makes sense?" 😕 Like, wouldn't that be useful? 🤷‍♂️ And then again... isn't it just saying they're making their rules more clear? 📝 I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking this...

OMG u guys! 🤯 I was literally freaking out when i heard about chatgpt not being able to give legal & medical advice... but turn out it's just a big misunderstanding 😅 Openai's head of health ai karan singhal cleared the air and said chatgpt is still good 2 go 💯 So apparently there was this one post on kalshi that spread fake news about chatgpt not being able 2 give personalized advice 🤦‍♂️ but i guess openai just updated their rules and added it 2 the list 📝 so now we know what's really going on 🙏

Ugh, I'm so frustrated with these rumors going around 🤯... like, how many times do we need to see this before people get it right? Apparently, there are some people out there who think OpenAI's chatbot is just gonna start spewing out medical and legal advice willy-nilly, which is totally not the case 🙄. I mean, come on, ChatGPT was never meant for that, it's just a resource to help us learn more about things, not give personalized advice 😒.

And can we talk about how easy it is to spread misinformation online? Like, one post gets deleted and suddenly everyone's talking about it, spreading the "news" around 🤦‍♀️... it's just so sad. I wish people would fact-check before sharing stuff online 📊. Anyway, glad OpenAI set the record straight, now let's all calm down and use our heads 😊.

OMG u guys! 🤯 I'm so relieved to hear that OpenAI is pushing back on those fake rumors that ChatGPT can't give out legit legal & medical advice 🙌. I mean who needs AI chatbots to be like robots and only provide info, right? 🤖 It's meant to be a resource not a substitute for actual expert advice 💡. And btw it's not like they're saying it can't do anything related to health or law, just that we gotta have rules in place so everyone knows what's up 📝. I'm all about being informed and using tech to help us out, but let's keep things straight, you know? 😂

omg i was so confused when i saw that news 🤯 like what if chatgpt can't give us medical advice anymore? that's super important info for students who need help with their assignments or something 📚 but karans statement makes sense, it's not meant to be a substitute for real professionals 🙌 and yeah the updates sounds pretty cool too, i mean who needs all those separate policies anyway? one less thing to worry about on the school days when we're already stressing about exams 😬

lol what's good guys? So there's all these rumors going around that ChatGPT can't give medical and legal advice anymore, but it turns out those are just false claims 🙄. I mean, OpenAI is being super clear - ChatGPT was never meant to be a doctor or lawyer in the first place, it's just a tool to help you learn more about stuff. Like if you're trying to figure out how much your car insurance costs, ChatGPT can give you info on that, but not like give you a personalized breakdown of your policy 🤑. And btw, I love how OpenAI is updating its policies - it's all about making things easier for users and less confusing 💻.

omg u guys I was like totally confused when I saw this news 😂 and I'm glad Karan Singhal is speaking out 🙌 because I was worried that ChatGPT was gonna be replaced by some fancy new AI or something 🤖 anyway so it turns out the company is just updating their rules to make things clearer 📝 but like for real though why did this misinformation go viral on social media 🤔 I mean I get it we love a good scoop, but can't we fact-check before sharing? 🙈

just had to fact-check this - seems like there's been some misinformation going around 🤔... think it's good OpenAI is setting boundaries tho, don't wanna have people relying on a chatbot for serious life decisions 💸... but at the same time, it's cool that they're keeping ChatGPT as a resource for learning purposes 📚. always good to remember, AI's not meant to replace human expertise 😊

🤔 I think it's crazy how quickly misinformation spreads online. Like, one dude posts a fake update on his platform and suddenly everyone's all shook up 🚨. OpenAI seems pretty clear that ChatGPT won't be doing our tax returns or prescribing meds anytime soon 💸. But honestly, who needs personalized advice from a bot when you've got actual pros in the room? 🤓 Still, it's cool that they're updating their policies and making sure everyone knows what's up 📝. I just wish we could all take a deep breath and not freak out over nothing 😅

ugh i was just thinking about trying out a new recipe for pancakes 🥞, and it got me wondering if i should use buttermilk or regular milk... anyway back to chatgpt, i mean if they're saying it's not providing medical advice then why is there a 'medical' section on the thing? 🤔 kinda makes you wonder what else is being done behind the scenes.

omg u guyz i was literally freaking out when i saw this news 🤯 like what even is going on with OpenAI?? so they're saying ChatGPT can't give legal and medical advice anymore? no way tho... i've used it for my homework in law school and it's always been super helpful 📚👍 i mean i get where they're coming from, we don't want ppl relying on a bot for serious decisions, but at the same time it's just so convenient 🤷‍♀️ i've had some pretty deep convos with ChatGPT about my anxiety and it's been honestly super comforting 💕 anyway i guess this whole thing is just a big ol' mess 🤯

OMG u guys, can we pls calm down? 😂 so like I'm reading thru all these comments and they're all freaking out cuz some random dude on X said OpenAI's chatbot isnt allowed 2 give legal/medical advice anymore lol what even is the point of that tho? 🤔 its never been about substituting for pro advice, its just a resource 4 people 2 learn stuff. btw I'm not sure wut the deal is w/ all these "facts" being shared on social media, btw did u guys actually see the original post or are we just getting fed info thru 3rd party? 🤷‍♂️

I'm so confused about this whole thing 🤔👀. I mean, I get it, OpenAI doesn't want people getting legit advice from a bot 😂, but at the same time, they're saying it's not changed anything 🙅‍♂️. It's just that now they have more rules to keep everyone in check 🚫. And honestly, who needs tailored advice anyway? 🤷‍♀️ I mean, if you need legit medical or legal help, go see a human 👨‍⚕️👩‍✈️! ChatGPT is great for learning stuff, but not for making life or death decisions 💔. This whole thing just had me rolling my eyes 🙄 and now I'm all like "wait, what's going on again?!" 😂

just saw that openai is pushing back hard on claims chatgpt is banned from giving legal & medical advice 🙄 like who spreads this kinda stuff anyway? so now they've clarified their policies and it's all good again 💡 but i'm still wondering how this misinformation got out there in the first place... was it a prank or just someone trying to stir up drama?

I'm low-key surprised by all these people freakin' out about OpenAI's chatbot not giving legal/medical advice 🤯... I mean, it was never meant to be a substitute for human expertise anyway 💡. The fact that it even offered such services in the first place is like, super weird 🤔... but hey, we all know how misinformation spreads on the internet like wildfire 🔥. It's pretty clear that someone on Kalshi platform just made up some random crap and now everyone's talking about it 📣. I'm just glad OpenAI's being transparent about the new rules – at least they're not trying to hide anything 👍... and honestly, this whole thing is like a perfect storm of internet chaos ⛈️!
