NYC’s Institute for Collaborative Ed. (ICE) has a branding problem

🤔 I'm kinda curious how they think changing the acronym is gonna make that big of a difference tho? Like, if you're affiliated with ICE, people already know who you are, right? It's not like they can just "rebrand" themselves outta being connected to an agency that's basically known for, well, enforcing immigration laws 🤷‍♂️

🤔 I think its pretty reasonable that the school is making this change, especially considering how much controversy has surrounded ICE lately... like, who wants their kid to be even remotely associated with an agency thats been, you know, kinda brutal towards immigrants? 🙅‍♂️ The fact that parents and students are noticing a shift in terminology already is telling - its not just about changing the branding on some t-shirts, its about creating a safe space for everyone involved. And Im all for that! 👍

I feel like this is just a minor tweak, but I guess it's a start 🤷‍♂️. The idea behind rebranding is to avoid any stigma that might come with being associated with an agency that's been super controversial lately. But honestly, can't they just own the fact that they used to be called ICE and move on? It's not like it's going to change anyone's mind about their policies or values 🙄. Still, I get why parents want a safe environment for their kids, so kudos to them for trying 👍.
