Pep Guardiola hits out at referee and says 'without Haaland it would be tough'

Guardiola Slams Referee After Manchester City Thrash Bournemouth 3-1

Pep Guardiola's Manchester City continued their title push with a convincing 3-1 win over Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, but the victory was marred by controversy and criticism of the referee.

Erling Haaland scored twice in the first half to put City ahead, before Nico O'Reilly added a third on the hour. However, the Cherries' Tyler Adams equalized just after halftime after a disputed goal that saw David Brooks remove the ball from Gianluigi Donnarumma's grasp at a corner kick.

Guardiola was furious with the refereeing decisions, calling Adams' goal "100% a foul" and questioning Anthony Taylor's judgment. The City boss also criticized his own players for not speaking up sooner, saying "We conceded the yellow card, that's good... We have James Trafford as a deputy, it's not a problem."

However, Guardiola was effusive in praise of Haaland, who has now scored 12 and 13 league goals this season. Without the Norwegian striker, the City boss admitted it would be tough to win games.

"Without him, it'd be tough, to be honest," Guardiola said. "And he is incredibly coachable โ€“ I'm tough sometimes with him. And he always tries to be open-minded."

The win has taken Manchester City to second in the table, six points behind leaders Arsenal, who have conceded only three goals all season. When asked about his team's chances of winning the title, Guardiola remained optimistic.

"Hopefully Arsenal can concede one goal one day, right?" he said with a smile. "It's just 10 games, still 28 to play."

I feel like Pep is being kinda harsh on those refs ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, yeah Adams' goal was a bit dodgy but it's not all the ref's fault that City didn't talk up sooner ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ‘Š. They're the ones who should be taking responsibility for communicating with each other on the pitch ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ’ฏ. And btw, Haaland is literally a beast right now ๐Ÿฆ–๐Ÿ”ฅ! 12 and 13 league goals this season? That's insane ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ†. Can't wait to see what he does next โšก๏ธ

๐Ÿคฏ man cant even control own game anymore its like theyre making it easy for other teams to beat em ๐Ÿ˜’ and gaurdola needs to step his players up dont just rely on erling haaland to score all the goals ๐Ÿ‘Š he needz 2 work on defense ๐Ÿšซ or wut?

I think Guardiola is overreacting, you know? I mean, it was one of those days where the referee just didn't get it and we all saw it. And yeah, Adams' goal was probably a bit dodgy but not 100% a foul, you feel me? It's not like he committed a crime or anything ๐Ÿ˜‚. And as for Haaland, I think he's getting too much hype, if you ask me. The guy's got skills, don't get me wrong, but he's not invincible or anything. If City lose to Bournemouth with him on the team, that's just gonna be a bad day, not a reflection of his abilities ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And can we talk about how overhyped Arsenal is? I mean, they've only conceded three goals? That's just luck, mate ๐Ÿ˜’.

๐Ÿ˜ i mean... that referee was super dodgy... like seriously, tyler adams got robbed out there... david brooks just kinda waltzed in and took the ball away from donnarumma... but, you know, it's not all pep's fault... his players should've been more vocal about it... james Trafford is a deputy, right?... anyway, haaland's still on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ 12 and 13 goals already this season... gotta give him credit for being coachable too... ๐Ÿ˜Š

I mean, come on Pep! ๐Ÿคฏ I get why you'd be frustrated with those ref decisions, but yelling at the refs after the game is never gonna help. ๐Ÿ™„ And that Adams goal was a total mess, but it's not like he meant to foul Donnarumma or anything... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ My kid would've gotten in so much trouble on the pitch for something that blatant! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ But seriously, Haaland is killing it this season and City's chances of winning the title are looking pretty good. Fingers crossed they can keep it up! โšฝ๏ธ And I love how Guardiola's being real about Haaland's coachability - we should all be so lucky to have a coach who can whip us into shape like that! ๐Ÿ˜†

omg did u see that ref?? ๐Ÿคฏ i mean pep is super cool and all but come on! that adams goal was so suspicious lol ๐Ÿ˜‚ i dont blame him for being mad tho, it was a pretty clear foul. and yeah erling haaland is literally unstoppable this season ๐Ÿคฉ i love how pep praises him tho, he's def the real deal! ๐Ÿ’ฏ and btw, 10 games to go? we can do dis!! โšฝ๏ธ

I'm so over this forum and how they always prioritize drama over actual football news ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, sure, Guardiola slams the ref and all that jazz, but can't we focus on the real story? Haaland's goals were insane! The dude is a phenom, no need to embellish his greatness ๐Ÿคฉ.

And can we talk about how the forum is always so one-sided? It's like everyone just loves Arsenal and hates City. I mean, I love watching football too, but come on, let's keep it civil ๐Ÿ˜’. The fact that Guardiola is optimistic about winning the title despite being six points behind leaders is actually pretty inspiring ๐Ÿ™Œ.

But no, instead of discussing Haaland's incredible form or City's resurgence, we're stuck in a never-ending cycle of "Guardiola is angry" and "The ref made another terrible call". Can't we have some actual football discussion around here? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Ugh I'm literally so frustrated watching these games ๐Ÿคฏ! The ref is just not getting it sometimes! I mean, come on, 100% foul on that Adams goal?! It was like they were blind or something ๐Ÿ™„. And don't even get me started on the corner kick, Gianluigi Donnarumma's got some serious skills but can he make them not happen?! ๐Ÿ˜‚

And then Guardiola is just praising Haaland and I'm over here thinking, what about the rest of the team?! We need to step it up if we wanna win this thing! Not just rely on one superstar player ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. But at the same time, that kid's a beast on the field ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

And can we talk about how inconsistent the ref is?! One game they're okay, next game they're terrible ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's like, dude make up your mind or get out of my sight! ๐Ÿ˜ก

Anyway, I guess it's all good, City got the win and are still in the hunt for that title ๐Ÿ”ฅ. But seriously, can't we just have a consistent ref for once?! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I dont get why the ref didnt give that goal, it was so clear ๐Ÿ˜’. It looks like the ref was having an off day, but still, it affected the game big time. I mean, its not like City were on fire or anything, they just played a good team game and scored some goals ๐Ÿ†. But honestly, Id be frustrated too if Im in Guardiola's shoes... ๐Ÿ˜ค. That Tyler Adams goal was lucky for Bournemouth! ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿค” I think the referee was having an off day ๐Ÿ™„, but at the same time, Adams' equalizer was a clear foul โšฝ๏ธ. Guardiola is right to point out that his players didn't speak up sooner, maybe they should've communicated better with each other ๐Ÿค.

On a more positive note, Haaland is on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ! 12 and 13 league goals this season? That's crazy fast โฑ๏ธ! The guy is a machine ๐Ÿ’ช. I love how Guardiola praises him, he's the real deal ๐Ÿ‘.

City's title chances are looking good, but it's still early days ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. If they keep playing like this, I think they can give Arsenal a run for their money ๐Ÿ”ด๐Ÿ‘Š. Bring on the rest of the season! ๐ŸŽ‰

man... pep's always been one to speak up about those refs ๐Ÿ˜’ they're like a joke sometimes. but you gotta give him credit, erling's on fire this season ๐Ÿš€ and city's gonna be hard to beat with him leading the charge ๐Ÿ’ช gotta see what happens when arsenal gets back from their break tho... could get pretty interesting ๐Ÿ‘€

Man... that ref was way off! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, you gotta speak up when you see something fishy, but at the same time, you can't let emotions get the best of you. Pep's right, their own players should've been calling out that foul sooner. It's a lesson in timing and composure under pressure... ๐Ÿ•’ Don't let your passion cloud your judgment, just stay calm and assess the situation. And hey, Erling Haaland is like a phenom on the pitch! ๐Ÿ’ฅ His work ethic and humility are key to his success. He's not just a goal-scorer, he's a team player... ๐Ÿ‘Š
