Public Enemy Flips 1998’s ‘He Got Game’ Into Women’s Empowerment Anthem ‘She Got Game’ Featuring Flau’Jae

Public Enemy Revamps 1998's "He Got Game" into Powerful Woman's Anthem, 'She Got Game', Featuring Flau'Jae and Olympic Medalist Elizabeth Beisel.

In a groundbreaking move that flips the script on a decades-old hip-hop classic, Public Enemy has transformed its iconic soundtrack staple, "He Got Game", into an empowering anthem for women titled 'She Got Game'. The revamped track features a moving opening from feminist leader Gloria Steinem's speech and is packed with an all-star lineup of female artists.

Released on Wednesday (February 4th), the song showcases the talents of hooper-turned-rapper Flau'Jae, Retina MC, Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel handling strings, and guitarist Grace Bowers. The track is a testament to the collective power and determination of women in various fields.

Proceeds from 'She Got Game' will benefit the Women's Sports Foundation and Black Music Action Coalition's Female Fund, further solidifying the song's commitment to female empowerment.

The brainchild behind this transformation was Flavor Flav, who recently became an outspoken sponsor for the U.S. Women's Olympic Water Polo Team in 2024. His continued support of Team USA's women has led to the creation of 'She Got Game', a powerful anthem that echoes with messages of resilience and female strength.

Flavor Flav reflects on his role in flipping "He Got Game" into 'She Got Game': “Yeah boy, she in a league of her own/ three-point clutch, she in a zone/I got the clocks so I got the time, she got game, so she gets to shine/ In a world full of queens, be a king”. The Public Enemy rapper will serve as the hype man for the women of Team USA Bobsled and Skeleton at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The original soundtrack album from "He Got Game" was released in April 1998, alongside the movie starring Denzel Washington. Directed by Spike Lee, the film has become a classic in American cinema.

Listen to 'She Got Game' below and experience the powerful transformation of a hip-hop anthem into an unbridled celebration of female empowerment.

Man, I'm loving this new version of "He Got Game" but it's like they're trying to tell us that women are on a whole different level now 🤩. I mean, remember when we used to have Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliott just crushing the game? This 'She Got Game' track is fire, no doubt about it, Flau'Jae is spitting bars like a pro and Elizabeth Beisel's strings are giving me chills 😊. It's dope that they're supporting these female athletes, I'm sure they'll crush it at the Olympics. But sometimes I feel like we've lost some of that old-school swag from the 90s, you know? When hip-hop was all about storytelling and creativity... still, 'She Got Game' is a banger, let's just say Flavor Flav knows how to bring the noise 💥!

🤔 I'm so over this whole "She Got Game" thing. It's just another watered-down, feel-good anthem that's gonna make me want to roll my eyes 🙄. I mean, come on, a hip-hop classic gets flipped into some sappy female empowerment song? What's next? A dude-rap remake of "Let It Go"? 🤷‍♂️ Give me something with some real edge and substance, you know what I'm sayin'? 💁‍♂️

I'm low-key obsessed with this new track by Public Enemy 🤩! They've totally flipped the script on a classic and made it all about the power of women. The fact that they're using their platform to support causes like the Women's Sports Foundation and Black Music Action Coalition is just amazing 💪. I love how Flavor Flav got involved and used his experience as a sponsor for Team USA's women's water polo team to create something so meaningful. idk what's up with this new version of "He Got Game" but i gotta say, it's pretty cool that they're flipping it to 'She Got Game'. the fact that flavor flav is behind this and is super supportive of women in sports is awesome 🙌. i mean, who wouldn't want to be inspired by female strength and resilience? 🤩. the lineup of artists on this track is fire too - flau'jae's energy is infectious 💃. i love that proceeds from this song are going to support some amazing orgs that uplift women in sports 🏆. it's a great reminder that we can all make a difference and spread positivity through music 🎶.

🤩 I'm literally loving this new track by Public Enemy! It's amazing how they took this old classic and turned it into something so empowering and uplifting for women. I mean, Flau'Jae is killin' the rap game with her flow 💥 and Elizabeth Beisel's strings are giving me all the feels 🎶. The message of resilience and female strength is everything! I'm definitely gonna be bumping this track on repeat to boost my own girl power vibes 🌸💪. And can we talk about how awesome it is that Flavor Flav is using his platform to amplify women's voices? He's a true champ for that 💯. The fact that the proceeds will go towards supporting women's sports and empowerment initiatives is just the icing on the cake 🎂. This song is a total game-changer!

I am literally blown away by this!!!!!!! :O Public Enemy is like, totally turning over a new leaf here and I am HERE. FOR. IT!!! 🤩 The fact that they've taken this iconic track from 1998 and flipped it into a powerful anthem for women is just pure genius. And can we talk about the lineup of female artists on this track? Flau'Jae, Retina MC, Cindy Blackman Santana... these women are killing it!!! 💁‍♀️ The addition of Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel's strings is like, the icing on the cake! 🎂 I'm so down for a song that celebrates female strength and resilience. And let's not forget about Flavor Flav's involvement - he's always been an outspoken supporter of women's sports, and this track is just another testament to his commitment. I'm already getting chills listening to "She Got Game"... it's like, the ultimate anthem for anyone who's ever felt like they don't quite fit into societal norms. 🌟

OMG what's up with this song tho? 🤔 I mean, it's Public Enemy, one of the most iconic groups in hip hop history, and they're just flipping their classic track into an anthem for women? It's kinda cool, but also a bit weird, right? Like, what inspired Flavor Flav to do this? Was he always planning on making a female empowerment song?

And I love that they're using all these different female artists on the track - it's like a mini-music festival! 🎉 But at the same time, it feels like there's still a lot of room for improvement. I mean, are we really seeing enough representation and equality in the music industry? And what does this song say about women's sports? Is it just a way to show support for teams like the US Women's Water Polo Team?

I also feel bad that they're charging money for it, though... isn't the point of 'She Got Game' supposed to be empowering women and promoting equality? Shouldn't it be free or something? 🤑 But I guess that's just how the music industry works... ugh.

I love this! It's about time we see more women in the music industry getting their moment. Flav is really doing his thing here, promoting female empowerment and supporting women athletes. I'm so hyped to hear Flau'Jae spit bars like that 🤩, she sounds fire! And can't wait for Elizabeth Beisel to rock out on her strings 🎸. The fact that the proceeds go to charity is just icing on the cake ❤️, it's all about spreading love and positivity. Bring on the Women's Sports Foundation and Black Music Action Coalition's Female Fund, let's see some real change happen 💪!

I'm literally getting chills thinking about this 😍! It's amazing how music can be used as a tool to uplift and empower women. I love that Flavor Flav is using his platform to amplify the voices of women, especially in sports 🤸‍♀️🏅. It's so inspiring to see him and these talented female artists coming together to create something special 💖. This song is not just about celebrating women's strength but also about promoting equality and respect 🌎. I'm all for it! Let's keep spreading love and positivity 🌈💪
