R360: Sale co-owner Michelle Orange warns of start-up event effects

"R360, a proposed new rugby union competition, could be the death knell for club rugby around the world if it gets off the ground. According to Michelle Orange, co-owner of Sale, the venture risks killing off the sport by creating a conveyor belt of talent that clubs cannot compete with.

Orange and fellow owners have warned that they would withdraw from rugby rather than become R360 feeder clubs, citing concerns about the financial sustainability of the new competition. "If [R360] were to happen, I honestly think it will be the death knell for Premiership club rugby, not just in England, I think around the world," Orange said.

The proposed league would feature eight men's teams and four women's teams competing on an F1-style circuit of events in major world cities. However, Orange argues that this approach would create a system where players are more interested in joining R360 than staying with their current club, leading to a brain drain for clubs.

R360's organisers claim the league will soon turn a profit by attracting fans who watch Test rugby but don't follow the current club game, as well as new audiences. However, Orange believes that this approach is flawed and would ultimately harm the sport.

The impact of R360 on women's rugby is also a major concern for Orange. She argues that the competition could decimate the Premiership Women's Rugby league if it recruits too many players, leading to a loss of talent and financial sustainability for clubs.

Overall, Michelle Orange and other club owners are sounding the alarm about the potential risks of R360 and its impact on the sport of rugby union."

This is gonna be a total disaster for club rugby! It's like they're trying to create a monopoly, man 🤦‍♂️. If players start jumping ship from their clubs just to get into this fancy new league, it's game over for smaller teams. And what about the financials? I mean, who's gonna make sure these teams are sustainable when the big boys like Sale and their friends in R360 are making all the cash?

And don't even get me started on women's rugby 🤷‍♀️. If they recruit too many top players, it's gonna be a total brain drain for clubs, period. I mean, we need more investment in grassroots rugby, not creating these exclusive leagues that only cater to the already wealthy and connected.

It's like they're trying to turn rugby into just another fancy-schmancy league sport 🏆. Newsflash: it's a team sport, people! It's about community, about passion, about working together towards a common goal. Not just some high-paid competition for the privileged few 💸.

omg u guys r going 2 hate this but i think r360 is literally going 2 be a disaster 4 rugby clubs & women's rugby esp if they try 2 recruit all the top players from clubs it'll b like they're just selling out 4 more money 🤑 r360's idea of creating an F1-style circuit sounds cool 2 me but how cn they ensure that these events aren't just a bunch 0f overpriced fans sittin 2 watch talented players do the same thing they've been doing on the pitch 🏉 meanwhile clubs r gonna lose their best players & talent 2 join this 'league' it's like r360 wants 2 create a conveyor belt 4 wealth rather than growin 2 the sport 🤦‍♂️

I'm super worried about this new R360 thing 🤕. It sounds like it's gonna put a huge strain on existing club rugby teams & they might have to close down because players just wanna join the fancy-schmancy R360 league 💸. I mean, who wouldn't want to play in front of all those fans and get paid more? 😎 But at what cost? It's like, clubs can't compete with that kind of money & talent, it's gonna be a disaster for the sport #RugbyUnion #ClubRugby #SaveTheSport 🏉

i mean, can you imagine having to fight for talent with this new super league coming in? 🤯 i totally get why clubs would be worried about becoming feeder clubs... it's like they're saying "hey, we want all your best players, don't bother keeping them". and what really gets me is the F1-style circuit idea - sounds like just another way for rich people to make money off rugby, you know? 🤑 meanwhile, clubs are struggling to keep afloat. i hope Michelle Orange's concerns aren't just being dismissed as "sour grapes" 🙅‍♀️

omg can you believe this? like r360 is trying to be all fancy with its F1-style circuit but honestly it sounds like they're just going to suck the talent out of clubs 🤣. i mean, who needs clubs when you've got a league that's just going to poach players left and right? clubs can barely afford their own coaches let alone compete with some fancy new league 💸. and what about women's rugby? it sounds like r360 is just going to make all the talent disappear 🚫. i'm all for innovation but this one feels like a recipe for disaster 😳.

"It's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years" - Abraham Lincoln 🕰️💪 I think R360 is a recipe for disaster, it'll suck all the talent out of clubs and leave them struggling to survive. We can't have players chasing millions from just playing rugby on the weekends, it doesn't make sense!

Wow 😱 this new league is gonna be super competitive 🏆 but kinda sucks for old school club rugby players 👋 they're worried about losing their talent to some fancy F1-style circuit events 🎢 what if it does turn a profit and clubs can't compete with the big bucks 💸 then we'll have a whole bunch of new leagues popping up everywhere 🌪️

oh man i can see why michelle orange is worried this r360 thing could be super bad for club rugby she's right that if clubs aren't allowed to compete with all these top talent they'll just lose players and it's not like they can afford to lose anyone 🤕 especially for the women's teams it's already hard enough to keep the pwr up in womens rugby we don't need some league coming in and taking away our best players i hope michelle orange gets her point across and people listen 👀

omg this is super worrying lol what if r360 takes all the talented players leaving clubs with nothing to compete with? i feel like r360's idea sounds cool but it's gotta be thought through carefully - those F1-style events sound crazy expensive and wouldn't work if clubs can't compete financially. also, women's rugby is a huge part of the sport, if they pull away from premiership it's gonna be a disaster 🤦‍♀️
