Panarin Hits 900 Points Without Knowing It, A Milestone for Undrafted Players

New York Rangers star Artemi Panarin recorded 900 points in his 11-year career on Thursday night, but didn't even know it yet. The impressive milestone marked the sixth time an undrafted player has reached this plateau.

Panarin celebrated with his teammates after scoring an empty-net goal, a contribution to a 4-2 Rangers win over the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Center. Panarin had played in just 781 games as of Thursday night and leads the team with 30 points this season.

In an interview, head coach Mike Sullivan praised Panarin's ability to drive offense on the ice. "He drives offense in so many different ways," he said, noting that Panarin has a unique talent for seeing plays develop.

Panarin is one of just four players in the league with over 60 hits and over 40 blocked shots this season. When asked about Braden Schneider's recent performance, Sullivan highlighted Schneider's core competency as a defender: "Schneid's defense ability... is his best game."
