Auchinleck Talbot, a sixth-tier team from West of Scotland League Premier Division, has made the decision to move their upcoming Scottish Cup fourth round tie against 42-time champions Celtic to Kilmarnock's Rugby Park. This comes after the club took advice from the Scottish Football Association and Police Scotland regarding concerns over the surrounding infrastructure's ability to cope with a high-profile event that would draw in international attention.
The Ayrshire-based team initially played at Beechwood Park, which has a 4,000 capacity. However, the club expressed difficulties in hosting the event due to limited infrastructure capabilities. As a result, they have chosen Rugby Park, which boasts a larger 15,000-seat stadium capacity.
The rearranged tie is scheduled for Sunday, January 18th and will be broadcast live on Premier Sports. Two other matches - Dunfermline Athletic vs Hibernian and Aberdeen vs Raith Rovers - are also set to take place over the same weekend. These games will air on BBC One Scotland.
