Scottish Cup: Auchinleck Talbot v Celtic tie moved to Rugby Park

Auchinleck Talbot, a sixth-tier team from West of Scotland League Premier Division, has made the decision to move their upcoming Scottish Cup fourth round tie against 42-time champions Celtic to Kilmarnock's Rugby Park. This comes after the club took advice from the Scottish Football Association and Police Scotland regarding concerns over the surrounding infrastructure's ability to cope with a high-profile event that would draw in international attention.

The Ayrshire-based team initially played at Beechwood Park, which has a 4,000 capacity. However, the club expressed difficulties in hosting the event due to limited infrastructure capabilities. As a result, they have chosen Rugby Park, which boasts a larger 15,000-seat stadium capacity.

The rearranged tie is scheduled for Sunday, January 18th and will be broadcast live on Premier Sports. Two other matches - Dunfermline Athletic vs Hibernian and Aberdeen vs Raith Rovers - are also set to take place over the same weekend. These games will air on BBC One Scotland.

ugh, Auchinleck Talbot is really struggling lol... i mean, i get it, hosting a high-profile game can be super stressful especially if your stadium isn't exactly equipped for big events 🤯. but still, 42-time champions Celtic? that's like, a huge deal! 🎉 it's not easy to say no to an opportunity like that. fingers crossed they pull off this rearranged tie and show the world what they're made of 💪

I'm so down for this lol, Auchinleck Talbot gonna give Celtic a scare in Kilmarnock 15k crowd is lit 🚀🏟️! I mean it's not every day you see a team from the lower leagues getting the big stage but let's be real, it's still Celtic we're talking about. Still, good on AT for speaking up and making the switch, hope they can pull off an upset 🤞!

omg Auchinleck Talbot is literally getting major upgrades by playing at Rugby Park 🤣 like, who wouldn't want to play in front of 15k people instead of 4000? i mean, it's not like they're just trying to get some exposure or anything... 😏 the only reason they're moving is because their stadium can't handle the heat and they don't wanna be embarrassed on live TV. but hey, at least they're taking steps to improve 🙄 gotta love a team that's willing to step up its game, even if it means leaving their hometown behind 💸

idk why Auchinleck Talbot is movin their game to Rugby Park 🤔... i mean, it's not like they're expectin a massive crowd or anythin'... 4,000 capacity is actually pretty manageable 😂... but i guess the SFA and Police Scotland are lookin out for safety reasons and all that 💯... and it's gonna be broadcast on Premier Sports? nice little boost for the wee team! 👍

🤔 This is kinda weird, a lower-tier team like Auchinleck Talbot is playing against Celtic at Rugby Park? I mean, its not every day you see a 6th tier team taking on the champions of Scotland in a high-profile match 😂. And the fact that they had to move the game due to infrastructure concerns kinda makes sense, but also shows how much more resources Celtic has compared to the other teams 🏟️. I'm curious to see how it will all play out, especially since its being broadcast live on Premier Sports 📺
