Scottish roundup: Hearts go seven points clear after beating nine-man Dundee United

Hearts have accelerated their pursuit of the Premiership title with a dominant 3-0 thrashing of Dundee United, who played with nine men after Amar Fatah was sent off in the first half. The Jambos' attacking prowess was on full display as Landry Kaboré scored twice and Alexandros Kyziridis converted a penalty to seal a convincing win.

Kaboré's double came after he had been patient this season, having suffered from injury to top scorer Lawrence Shankland. His resurgence has been timely, with Hearts now seven points clear of Rangers and nine ahead of Celtic. Manager Derek McInnes praised Kaboré's performance, saying the striker led the line well and was ably supported by a strong team effort.

The win came against the backdrop of a heated title race, with both Glasgow sides set to face off on Sunday in separate matches. For Dundee United, however, the nine-man victory was little consolation for their struggles this season.

In other results, Motherwell edged Livingston 2-0, while Kilmarnock stunned Aberdeen 3-0 at Rugby Park. The Steelmen's win propelled them six points clear of the bottom-placed Dons.

St Mirren and Dundee shared a goalless draw in a match that saw Jake Young sent off for St Mirren after being penalized by referee Nick Walsh. Young claimed he was simply trying to catch Brad Halliday on the foot while stretching, but the decision stood. Stephen Robinson, St Mirren's manager, expressed surprise at the red card and vowed to consider appealing against the decision.

As the Premiership title race heats up, Hearts' victory has put significant pressure on Rangers and Celtic. With both Glasgow sides facing tough matches on Sunday, the Jambos will be looking to maintain their momentum in pursuit of the championship.

just saw this heartwarming vid of amar fatah doing a post-match interview with his teammates after getting sent off lol what a guy still giving love and support to his mates even when he's in the can 💕 but seriously hearts are on fire rn how long can they keep up this pace tho

I'm tellin' ya, somethin's fishy goin' on here 😏. Hearts are gettin' all this traction for that Premiership title and it's like they're doin' it on purpose 🤔. I mean, Kaboré just pops up with two goals after bein' injured, what are the odds? 🤑 And now they're seven points clear of Rangers and Celtic? It's just too convenient, if you ask me 😒. I'm startin' to think that someone's hidin' somethin' in the backroom, maybe some backhand deals or somethin'... can't rule it out 🤷‍♂️. The title race is heatin' up, but I'm seein' a lot of smoke here and not enough fire 🔥.

omg I'm so hyped for Hearts right now!!! 🤩 They're really showing what they're made of this season and that win against Dundee United was pure perfection! Landry Kaboré is literally on fire 🔥, his resurgence is just what they needed after that injury to Shankland. And the way he scored those goals was so smooth 😎. Now they're seven points clear of Rangers and nine ahead of Celtic, I'm not sure if anyone can catch them now 🤔. The title race is heating up and it's going to be a wild ride! 👀

You know what's crazy? This win by Hearts is like a mirror reflection of our current political landscape - all about the underdog taking down the establishment! I mean, think about it, they're 7 points clear of Rangers and 9 ahead of Celtic... that's like a landslide victory in the polls!

And let's not forget about Dundee United, who were reduced to nine men. That's what happens when you're playing with too many cooks in the kitchen, just like how we see in our current system where everyone wants a piece of the pie but can't agree on how to run it.

I'm loving this rivalry between Hearts and Rangers... it's like the ultimate clash of ideologies! It'll be interesting to see how Sunday's matches play out. Will Hearts continue to dominate, or will the Glasgow giants mount a comeback? One thing's for sure, it's going to be a wild ride! 🏆💪

Just read about Hearts beating Dundee United 3-0 🤩 and I gotta say, Landry Kaboré's form is insane! Been waiting for him to get back from injury and now he's like a different player ⚽️. Rangers and Celtic are in trouble, they're gonna have to step up their game if they wanna catch Hearts. And what's up with all these red cards? Like, I get it, Jake Young didn't mean to push Brad Halliday but still... 🙄

omg can't believe how well hearts are doing rn they're like the dark horses of the premiership lol! 3-0 is a big win for them and it's put some serious pressure on rangers and celts now, gotta see what happens on sunday 🤯💥

I'm loving how the Hearts team is really getting into gear now 💪🏽! Landry Kaboré's comeback has been huge for them, and it's awesome to see him scoring goals again after a tough injury patch 🤞. Seven points clear at this point in the season is a great position for them, but of course, they can't get too comfortable – those Glasgow rivals are always a threat! 😬 Still, with a win like that, I reckon Hearts are well on their way to making a strong push for the Premiership title 🏆. And kudos to Derek McInnes for getting his team playing well together – it's all about the squad effort at this point, right? 👊

omg u guys i cant believe hearts is literally 7 points ahead of rangers now!! 🤯 i mean i was worried when lawrence shankland went down with that injury but landry kaboré has been on FIRE this season!!! 😂 he deserves all the praise and his manager derek mcinnes said he led the team well which is super impressive for a striker who's had to work twice as hard due to shankland's absence 🤝 also omg celtic is like 9 points behind hearts now they need to step up their game or else hearts will be like "we told u" 😂 sunday cant come soon enough i hope hearts keeps this momentum going and doesnt mess it up 🙅‍♂️

OMG I'm literally so hyped for Hearts right now 😍🏆 they're killing it this season! I was watching the game live and Landry Kaboré's goals were insane 🤯 I mean, I've seen him score before but not like that. And to see Dundee United playing with nine men? Talk about a tough break for them 😅. For Hearts though, it's just another win in their quest for that Premiership title. 7 points clear of Rangers and 9 ahead of Celtic? That's some serious pressure on those Glasgow teams 🔥. I'm loving the excitement around this championship race and it's making me even more invested in the season 🎉. Can't wait to see what Sunday brings!

😅 I'm loving this Hearts team right now! Landry Kaboré's resurgence is exactly what they needed, and that 3-0 thrashing of Dundee United was pure dominance 🤯. Seven points clear of Rangers? That's huge! And with Celtic breathing down their necks, the pressure's on for both Glasgow sides to step up their game 💪. Kilmarnock's surprise win over Aberdeen is also a nice boost - Motherwell and St Mirren can't be too far behind 😉. Sunday's matches are gonna be EPIC 📺, especially with Dundee United struggling like that... who knows what we'll see? ⚽
