Silver Alert issued for 83-year-old man missing from Coconut Creek - WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports | Fort Lauderdale

A Silver Alert has been issued in Coconut Creek, Florida, for 83-year-old Lawrence Weinberg who went missing on Monday afternoon. According to authorities, Weinberg was last seen near his home in Wynmoor Village and may be driving a tan or beige-colored Buick Century with the Florida tag Y85-XIK.

Weinberg is described as being 5'9" and weighing around 180 lbs, wearing a blue T-shirt, blue sweat pants, beige sandals, and a red hat. Given that he suffers from dementia, authorities are urging residents to be vigilant for his whereabouts.

Law enforcement is seeking the public's assistance in locating Weinberg, who may pose a risk to himself if driven by the vehicle while experiencing confusion or disorientation due to his condition. Anyone with information on his whereabouts can contact the Coconut Creek Police Department at 954-973-6700 or 911.

In Florida, where Silver Alerts are issued, residents are encouraged to report any sightings of missing seniors, particularly those diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's-related illnesses, who may be driving a vehicle.

just saw this news about Lawrence Weinberg and I'm getting really worried ๐Ÿค• he's got dementia which makes him vulnerable on the roads and now his family is having to go through this stress because of it... Silver Alerts are a great initiative but we need more awareness and resources for people with dementia and their families. We should also be looking at why there aren't more senior-friendly transportation options out there ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘ต it's not just about finding the person, it's about keeping them safe on our roads ๐Ÿ’–

omg u guys this is soooo concerning lol lawrence weinberg's condition is super sketchy and i'm worried sick he's got dementia and can't even take care of himself let alone drive ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ 1 mil fl folk should keep an eye out for him pls especially if ur driving around coconuts creek rn idk how much more serious this gets but u gotta help get this guy back home safe & sound ๐Ÿ’•

I'm so worried about Lawrence Weinberg ๐Ÿค—. My grandma used to have Alzheimer's and I remember how scary it was for her family when she got confused and started walking away from them. It's not just scary, but also heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜”. Silver Alerts are a great idea, though - it's awesome that the community is coming together to help find him ๐Ÿ™. My friend's aunt went missing like this too (she had dementia) and they found her after weeks of searching... it was such a relief for their family. We should all keep an eye out for each other, especially our elderly neighbors โค๏ธ.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ˜• I feel so bad for Lawrence Weinberg and his family ๐Ÿค—. Dementia can be really scary, especially when it affects memory and decision-making skills ๐Ÿ˜ž. The Silver Alert is a great idea to help keep him safe, but I hope someone sees him soon and can give him some peace of mind ๐Ÿ™.

I think the authorities are doing everything they can to find Weinberg quickly, and that's all we can do to support them ๐Ÿค. If you're in Coconut Creek, please be on the lookout for a guy who might seem lost or confused ๐Ÿš—. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he'll be back home with his loved ones soon ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ

OMG u guys this silver alert is crazy like 83 yr old dude went missing & authorities r really worried cuz he has dementia & might drive himself into trouble ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฌ wat if he gets lost or hits someone?! we need to spread the word ASAP! coconut creek police r trying hard to find him but i hope they get his location ASAP ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿšจ I'm not sure why a Silver Alert is being issued for Lawrence Weinberg. Can't he just call his family or friends if he gets lost? It sounds like overkill to me. ๐Ÿค” And what's the point of putting out an alert with such vague details, like him driving a Buick Century? That could be any old car on the road! ๐Ÿ˜’ I'm also not sure how reliable dementia sufferers are as drivers. Isn't it more practical for us to just check up on our elderly neighbors instead of relying on some mass alert system? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

OMG, I'm so worried about Lawrence Weinberg! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ He sounds like my grandma, you know? Always forgets stuff and gets mixed up... ๐Ÿ™ˆ Anyway, Silver Alerts are super helpful in these situations 'cause they get the word out quickly, ya feel? ๐Ÿ‘ My sister's friend is on the same community watch as Wynmoor Village, so I'm sure she'll be keeping an eye out for any sightings of Lawrance ๐Ÿ˜Š. It's crazy how easily seniors can get lost or confused when they've got dementia... hope he gets found safe and sound! ๐Ÿ™

I donโ€™t usually comment but... this silver alert in Coconut Creek is really worrying ๐Ÿค” I mean, I've heard of these things before, but it always hits home when someone actually goes missing. 83 years old with dementia can't even drive himself to the fridge without getting lost? That's just not fair ๐Ÿ˜• My grandma used to drive too and she was fine... until she got Alzheimerโ€™s, then it was a whole different story. Anyway, I hope they find Lawrence soon ๐Ÿ’• but at the same time, I'm a bit annoyed that we need these silver alerts in the first place. It feels like we're relying on strangers to save each other's lives? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Still, I guess that's what neighbors are for... right? ๐Ÿ‘ซ

I don't know why everyone freaks out when someone with dementia goes missing... I mean, what's the worst that could happen? They get lost in their own neighborhood ๐Ÿค”? It's not like they're going to hurt anyone or cause major chaos. Just imagine if we all had some sort of ' senior alert' system and our elderly neighbors just kinda... wandered off a bit... I think it'd be way less stressful for everyone involved ๐Ÿ˜ Plus, with the Silver Alert system, authorities are actually proactively looking out for these folks who might need a little extra help. So, instead of making us all feel guilty or anxious, let's focus on spreading some awareness and kindness towards our elderly neighbors ๐ŸŒŸ

OMG, this Silver Alert thing is getting crazy ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, on one hand, it's awesome that they're using silver alerts to find people, but on the other hand, I'm worried about Lawrence's safety ๐Ÿ™. He has dementia and can't even drive himself right now, it's just too much risk for him to be behind the wheel alone ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I hope someone finds him ASAP, but what if he gets lost or stuck somewhere? Like, what's gonna happen when he needs help? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘Ž

๐Ÿšจ I was just reading about this and it got me thinking, what's the deal with Silver Alerts? Like, they're not as big of a thing in other states, right? ๐Ÿค” I mean, I've heard of Amber Alerts for missing kids, but Silver Alerts are more like...Silver Efforts? ๐Ÿ˜… Just kidding! Seriously though, I think it's great that Florida is taking proactive steps to look out for seniors with dementia. It's not like they're just going to drive off into the sunset and forget where they are...although, I guess it could happen if they do go missing ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

OMG, I'm like so worried about Lawrence Weinberg ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! He's been missing for like 2 days now and his family is totally freaking out ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, he has dementia and all, but that doesn't mean we should just sit back and do nothing ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. The authorities are doing a great job searching for him, but I think we can all help out by keeping an eye out on the roads ๐Ÿš—.

I've seen those Silver Alerts before and it's like, super important to report any sightings ๐Ÿ“ฃ. If you're driving around Wynmoor Village or Coconut Creek and see that Buick Century, just pull over and call 911 ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Weinberg's family needs closure ASAP ๐Ÿ˜”. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that he gets found safe and sound ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’•!

OMG, I'm getting worried about this guy Lawrence Weinberg ๐Ÿ˜ฉ! He has dementia and went missing while living in Wynmoor Village, which is like a retirement community ๐Ÿ . Authorities are saying he might drive his Buick Century with Florida plates Y85-XIK ๐Ÿš—, but that's super scary if he gets lost or confused behind the wheel ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ.

I mean, I get it, dementia can be super unpredictable and frustrating for both patients and their families ๐Ÿ’”. But still, law enforcement is trying to find him ASAP โฐ. Coconut Creek Police Department is asking everyone in Florida (especially seniors with dementia) to keep an eye out ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Fingers crossed that they'll find Lawrence soon and he'll be safe at home ๐Ÿ˜Š!

I FEEL BAD FOR LAWRENCE WEINBERG AND HIS FAMILY!!! HE MUST BE SO SCARED AND CONFUSED RIGHT NOW ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ’” I MEAN, WHO WANTS TO DRIVE AROUND IN AN UNFAMILIAR PLACE WITH NO IDEA WHERE THEY'RE GOING? IT'S LIKE, NOT COOL WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN GET THE DIRECTIONS RIGHT ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ ANYWAY, I HOPE SOMEONE SPOTS HIM AND GETS HIM BACK HOME SOON!!! PLEASE, FELLOW FLORIDANS, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THIS GUY AND HELP THE COCONUT CREEK POLICE DEPARTMENT FIND HIM ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ช

omg this is so concerning - what if he gets into an accident or forgets his address?! ๐Ÿ™ˆ they really need to get more accessible tech for ppl with dementia, like automatic emergency call buttons in their cars... it's just not fair that they have to rely on good Samaritans for help ๐Ÿ˜”

omg this is so worrying ๐Ÿค• i was just talking about dementia awareness on my social media the other day and now i see silver alert issued for someone with it ๐Ÿ˜” lawrence weinberg seems like a nice guy and i hope he's found soon... how hard is it to get help in florida anyway? ๐Ÿค” shouldn't he have access to healthcare or something? ๐Ÿฅ anyway, hopefully the police find him soon ๐Ÿ’• and people around wynmoor village keep an eye out for his tan beigey buick ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ‘€

Ugh, what's up with these Silver Alerts anyway? ๐Ÿ™„ They're like, super annoying and just give me a headache. Can't we just have a simple missing person alert instead of making it all fancy and silver-y? And can you believe they're using Google Maps to get the public involved... I mean, I'm happy to help out, but come on, it's not like we're solving some high-profile mystery here ๐Ÿค”. It's an 83-year-old dude who wandered off because of his dementia, calm down everyone! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ And what's with the description? Like, who writes this stuff? "Tan or beige-colored Buick Century"? Is that even a real color?! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I'm really worried about Lawrence Weinberg, you know? He's like, so vulnerable because of his dementia ๐Ÿค•. I mean, can you imagine being in his shoes, struggling to find your way and not knowing what's going on? It's terrifying just thinking about it ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

The fact that he was last seen near his home but may be driving a car is seriously concerning. He could get himself into a lot of trouble if he gets lost or disoriented while behind the wheel ๐Ÿš—. And with his weight and height, he might not even realize how out of control he's getting ๐Ÿ˜“.

I think it's amazing that the authorities are stepping in to help find him. Silver Alerts are like a lifeline for families dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's ๐Ÿ’•. They're giving people hope that someone will come forward with information about his whereabouts.

As a community, we should all be on the lookout for Weinberg if we see him. Even if he doesn't seem like he needs help right away, it's always better to err on the side of caution ๐Ÿค—. If anyone has any info, please do reach out to the police โ€“ every little bit counts! ๐Ÿ“ž
