So like, I just saw this news about Joaquin Guzman Lopez, aka one of 'El Chapo's' sons

. Anyway, it looks like he's gonna plead guilty to narcotics trafficking charges in the US

. According to stats from the FBI, there were over 100,000 overdose deaths in the US last year alone

... and fentanyl was responsible for like 70% of those

.
But, what I find wild is that this plea deal might just save his life

. Like, according to charts from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, there were over 50,000 people incarcerated in US prisons for drug trafficking offenses last year

... and most of them got sentenced to like 10-20 years or more

.
I'm also kinda curious about how this affects the Sinaloa cartel's power struggles

. Did you know that Mexico has seen over 1,200 deaths related to cartel violence in just the past year?

That's insane... and according to reports from UNODC, fentanyl trafficking is responsible for like 60% of those deaths

.
Anyway, I'm guessing this plea deal could be a big turning point for Guzman Lopez and his family

. We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out

.
