Soup firm Campbell's dismisses executive over alleged 'poor people' comments

Campbell's Soup Company Has Dismissed Executive Over Racist Comments, Apologizes for Harm Caused

A Campbell's executive was let go after making derogatory comments about the company's products and employees, including those of Indian heritage. According to a former employee who recorded Martin Bally, vice-president of the information technology department, claiming that Campbell's products are made for "poor people" and denigrating Indian employees is unacceptable.

The recording, which was broadcast on a Michigan TV station, showed Bally making racist remarks, calling Indians unable to think for themselves. He also claimed that his own company sold "shit for fucking poor people." In response, Campbell's apologized for the hurt caused by these comments, describing them as "vulgar, offensive and false."

Bally was subsequently dismissed from his position, with the company stating that this behavior does not reflect their values or culture. Campbell's also denied allegations made by Bally about the chicken used in its soups being bioengineered.

The incident has sparked outrage among some who argue that the company needs to do more to address issues of racism and diversity within its workplace. As one commentator noted, "it's shocking that such language was tolerated" at a major corporation like Campbell's.

In recent years, Campbell's has expanded its product range beyond soups to include snacks and other food items. The company owns several popular brands, including V8 drinks, Prego sauces, and Kettle Brand chips.

Bally, who is now out of a job, has not yet commented on the incident.

just heard about this one... i mean, what's the point of even having diversity training if it doesn't stick πŸ™„? someone like martin bally gets let go for making racist comments but other people must be holding their breath thinking "oh wait, will we ever get there?" meanwhile, company keeps on growing with new products and stuff. idk how much of a difference one guy makes but i guess it's better than nothing πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. also, gotta wonder what kind of conversations were happening behind the scenes at campbell's... did they know about bally's crap before or after he recorded himself? anyway, can't say im surprised tbh πŸ˜’

omg i'm like soooo done with people makin comments like that πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ‘Ž cant believe they had da nerve to say dat kinda stuff about indian ppl and their intelligence lol no wonder he got fired from his job πŸš«πŸ’Ό guess campbells soup company finally took a stand against racism πŸ™Œ it's not right when ppl think its okay to disrespect others just cuz of their background or culture 😑 anyway, glad they apologized for the hurt feelings and all dat...i hope the guy finds another job soon πŸ’ΌπŸ‘

can't believe this happened 🀯 at a company that's supposed to be all about bringing people together with their food. it's like they're saying "we know we've got some issues, but let's just sweep them under the rug and hope nobody notices"... meanwhile, ppl of color are still dealin w/ racism in the workplace and at home πŸ€• what's next? Campbell's gonna make a statement about diversity and inclusion, but it's gotta be more than just a PR stunt... they need to put their money where their mouth is πŸ’Έ

πŸ˜• I feel so sad when i see big companies getting it wrong like this. you'd think that with all the progress we've made in equality, these kinds of incidents would be a thing of the past πŸ™„. Campbell's is right to apologize and take action against the exec who spoke out of turn, but its not just about one person - its about creating a workplace culture where everyone feels welcome and valued πŸ’Ό. As a retiree, i've seen a lot of changes in the work world, and i think this is an opportunity for companies to step up their diversity and inclusion efforts 🌟. we need more leaders who are willing to listen and learn from their employees' perspectives πŸ‘‚.

Ugh πŸ€• just saw that Campbell's soup guy got fired over racist comments he made about Indians and poor people... what a sicko πŸ˜’ gotta feel bad for those Indian employees tho, like they already have enough to deal with πŸ™„ company finally apologized but idk if it was just lip service πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ hope this incident makes them rethink their hiring process πŸ‘€

I mean, come on... a CEO gets caught making racist comments and they fire him? Like, what took them so long to step in? And "vulgar, offensive and false" - that's just code for "we're trying to save face here". I'm not buying it. This whole thing feels like a PR stunt to me... they're only doing this because of the backlash on social media πŸ€”. And what about all the other bad apples in their organization who might be harboring similar views? Are they just going to let them slide? It's just too easy for companies to sweep these kinds of incidents under the rug and pretend like everything is fine...

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ I gotta say, this Campbell's executive's racist comments are super messed up πŸš«πŸ’”. Like, how can you make fun of people for their heritage and think it's okay? πŸ˜’ It's not just about being hurt by his words, but also about the fact that he was in a position of power and didn't use that to speak out against racism.

A diagram of a company with a big X marked through it would represent Bally's behavior 🚫
```
Company ( Campbell's )
|
| Bally (executive)
|
|--( racist comments )-|
| |
| hurtful words |
| |
+---------------+
( company values )
```

I think it's cool that Campbell's apologized and fired the guy, but like, we should expect more from corporations 🀝. They can do so much to promote diversity and inclusion in their workplaces and beyond πŸ‘

I gotta say, some people are too quick to jump on Campbell's soup company for this one, you feel? Like, yeah, Martin Bally made some seriously unacceptable comments, but let's be real, we've all said some dumb stuff in our lives and moved on. It's easy to sit there with a microphone and call someone out for being racist, but when are we gonna stop throwing the first stone? The company did what they had to do, fired him, apologized... that's a pretty standard response. And let's not forget, Bally wasn't even a CEO or some high-ranking executive, just an IT guy. It's not like Campbell's was hiding this kind of stuff from everyone. I'm not saying racism isn't a huge deal, but we need to be careful not to demonize companies for one misstep. We all make mistakes, it's how we learn and grow.

πŸ€” Can't believe this happened at Campbell's 🍲 - one of the biggest companies in food industry! It's crazy that they let someone with such toxic views hold a position of power for so long πŸ’Ό. I mean, how many people can say they've sold "shit" to poor people and not face consequences? 😳 The fact that this kind of language was tolerated is just unacceptable πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

Campbell's should be commended for taking swift action and firing the guy, but at the same time, they need to do more to address systemic issues of racism in their workplace 🌟. It's not just about one person making a few bad comments; it's about creating a culture where everyone feels welcome and valued πŸ’–.

I'm also curious to know how many other people have reported similar experiences or seen this kind of behavior before πŸ€”. Was Bally acting alone, or was there a culture of intolerance at Campbell's? Whatever the answer is, one thing's for sure: this incident has highlighted the need for greater diversity and inclusion in our workplaces πŸ‘₯πŸ’ͺ

man this whole thing got me thinking about how we're still struggling to break down these barriers in our society πŸ€”. like, campbell's gets it right by firing bally and apologizing, but what does that really mean? is it just a slap on the wrist or are they actually making an effort to change their culture?

i also got to thinking about how we consume food and products without really considering where they come from or who made them. its like, our cravings can be kinda selfish sometimes πŸ”πŸ‘€. anyway, i hope campbell's takes this as a chance to learn and grow from it.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ Can you believe Campbell's had to soup up their HR department after that exec's racist remarks? πŸ˜‚ I mean, who uses the word "shit" in a meeting? Martin Bally must've been having a crappy day (get it?) πŸ€ͺ. But seriously, racism has no place in the workplace, and it's awesome Campbell's is taking steps to address this issue. Maybe they can even add some diversity training to their soup-making classes? 🍲πŸ‘₯
