A brazen break-in at Illinois Senate President Don Harmon's Oak Park office on Friday evening took a dramatic turn when the would-be thief held one of his staff members at knifepoint. The male suspect entered the office at 6941 W. North Ave. and confronted a female employee, forcing her to witness the menacing scene before police arrived. Miraculously, the woman was unharmed, while the perpetrator was taken into custody on charges of armed robbery.
According to Harmon's spokesperson, there is no evidence to suggest that the incident had any political motive behind it. The swift response from law enforcement was praised by the senator himself, who thanked the Oak Park Police Department and commended his staff for their bravery during the ordeal.
