Strozzi: Virtuosissima Sirena album review – Laura Catrani enchants with music from a true Venetian revolutionary

Ugh, can't believe they're making us pay extra for this album 🤑. I mean, sure, it's got some great songs and all, but 30 bucks for a bunch of old Baroque music? That's just crazy talk 😂. And don't even get me started on the packaging - who thought it was a good idea to put a bunch of tiny scores in with the CD? It's just clutter 📦.

And have you noticed how every album release is always "a testament" or "a revolution" in some way? Like, can we just say something nice for once without overusing buzzwords? 🙄. Anyway, I guess Laura Catrani's vocals are pretty great and all...

I'm loving this album! The way Laura Catrani's voice just shines through on tracks like L'Amante Segreto... it's like she's having a full-on emotional conversation with you, no? 🤩 And that ensemble they've got together is seriously on point - all those instruments blending in perfect harmony, like a beautifully messy Renaissance wedding party. I'm not surprised they're calling Strozzi a revolutionary composer, this music feels like a game-changer for its time! 💥
