Take That review – could it be TV magic? Yes!

Take That's 2024 stadium tour serves as the perfect backdrop to a surprisingly engaging Netflix documentary about the veteran boyband. The three-part series delves into the last 35 years of Take That's history, covering everything from their early days in gay clubs to their unprecedented second coming a decade after they imploded.

Throughout the documentary, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald share their thoughts on various aspects of their journey. While there aren't many major revelations, the series offers an unembittered retelling of the band's story, complete with archive footage that has been previously unseen. The result is a refreshingly straightforward look at Take That's history.

The film takes its cue from David Soutar's direction and incorporates hundreds of hours of new interviews with the three remaining members. This provides ample material for fans to revisit and re-evaluate their favorite Take That moments, including early school assembly gigs and candid youthful mishaps that showcase the band's playful side.

Interestingly, the documentary has adopted a mellow tone reminiscent of Britain in the mid-1990s, which is an apt reflection of Take That's era. Their music remains iconic, and this series serves as a testament to their enduring legacy.

The film concludes on a bittersweet note, acknowledging that fans have grown with Take That over the years. As such, it allows viewers to appreciate the highs and lows they've witnessed during their journey. Ultimately, Take That offers a captivating portrayal of the band's story from an adult perspective – one that's both nostalgic and rejuvenating.

If you're a fan of 90s pop or just looking for a heartwarming documentary about iconic music groups, then this might be the perfect fit.

idk why I'm surprised but imo, it seems like they only got the 3 remaining members to spill the tea 🤔. no idea what happened to those other guys? also, "unprecedented second coming" is a bit of a stretch if you ask me... sounds like they just kinda reformed without really addressing why they broke up in the first place 🎉

I'm loving this docu-series on Take That 🤩! It's so cool to see the boys' journey unfold, and Gary's voiceovers are super soothing 😌. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch hours of new interviews with the lads? 💬 But what really got me was how they didn't shy away from the tough times – it's not all rainbows and butterflies, you know? 🌈 Still, it's a really great way to revisit old memories and appreciate just how far they've come. I'd say it's a solid 8/10 for fans – might need some context for newbies tho 👀

idk why ppl are hyped about this docu, its got some decent footage but its not like they're revealing any earth shattering secrets lol 🤷‍♂️ it's just a bunch of them reminiscein about old times and share some laughs...and honestly, i think its kinda boring 😴 the mid 90s vibes are cool and all, but thats about where my interest ends 🙃

omg u guys I am literally OBSESSED with this new Take That docu it's like they're talking straight to my soul Gary, Mark, and Howard sharing all these behind-the-scenes stories and memories from their early days to their iconic 90s pop reign 🤩🎉 I mean I've seen all the old vids but hearing them talk about it is a whole different level of nostalgia I love how they don't sugarcoat anything either - it's like they're reminiscing with us, not trying to sell us on some watered-down version of their history 😊

You know, I think what really drew me to this docu-series is how it lets the band members take center stage without being too sensationalized. It's all about letting them share their stories in their own words 🤗. For me, that's a great reminder of the importance of authenticity and vulnerability. We can learn so much from people who are willing to be open and honest about themselves, flaws and all. Take That's story might not have been revolutionary, but how they've handled their ups and downs over the years is really something we can all relate to 💕. The docu-series shows that even after all these years, you can still find new insights into a person's journey by hearing it from them directly 🗣️.

🌟 I watched this docu series on Take That and it was so lovely! Gary, Mark, and Howard were all super chatty about their past and it felt like they were having a nice cuppa with us 🍵. The archive footage was a great addition - I had no idea they'd done school assembly gigs back in the day 😂. It's amazing how much of their story has stood the test of time, still feeling fresh and fun today. As someone who grew up in the 90s, it felt like a big ol' hug from my musical past 🎶👏. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan or just feelin' nostalgic! 😊

OMG, I'm so obsessed with this Take That docu! 🤩 It's like, they're not trying to hide anything, you know? They just share their stories and memories in such a chill way. I loved seeing them talk about their early days on stage, even if it was for school assemblies 😂. And can we talk about how nostalgic it feels to watch old archive footage from the 90s? 📺 The music is still so iconic and catchy! My friends and I were singing along to "Back for Good" in our heads while watching it 💖. If you're a fan like me, this is def worth checking out 👍

I'm loving this docu series on Take That! The archive footage is insane, I had no idea they did that many school gigs back in the day 🤣. It's so refreshing to see them being unembittered about their past, it just shows how grown up and humble they are now. Gary, Mark, and Howard sharing their thoughts on everything from their early days to their reunion is like getting a behind-the-scenes look at their lives – you can totally vibe with the guys 🤝. The nostalgic vibe of the docu is spot on for the 90s era, it's like stepping back into a time capsule 👀. Can't wait to rewatch some of their old vids and relive those memories 💫

The Netflix doc on Take That is like the Conservative Party's masterclass in nostalgia - it's all about embracing the past and celebrating the 'good old days'. Gary, Mark, and Howard share some great stories, but let's not forget, this is also a story of power dynamics within the band. Who held what kind of sway? Were there any shadowy figures pulling strings from behind the scenes? It's fascinating to think about how their reunion was almost like a Brexit-style referendum - the people decided they wanted more of Take That, and the rest is history.

And on another note, have you noticed how this doc is like the Labour Party's efforts to tap into our collective childhood memories? 'Remember when...' is the mantra here. It's all about evoking those feelings of unity and shared experience that bring people together. The bittersweet ending is also a clever nod to the complexities of adulthood - just like how we have to navigate the grey areas in politics, Take That had its ups and downs too.

The doc's tone is indeed mellow, but I think that's because it's not tackling any real controversy - it's all about the warm fuzzies. Where's the critical analysis? The deeper dives into the band's decisions and actions? It's like they're playing by the rules of the '90s pop landscape, without challenging those rules too much.

Ugh, I mean, it's nice that Take That is getting a documentary, but what's with all the nostalgia? It's like they're trying to make us feel old and sentimental. And 3 part series is just going to give you too much time to overthink everything. They're basically reliving their past and expecting everyone else to care too. Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald are still rich and successful so what does this documentary really say about them? Is it just a bunch of old clips and interviews that we've already seen on YouTube?

lol at how down to earth they are, no extra drama or sensationalism 🙄. it's great that Gary, Mark, and Howard open up about their journey without holding back too much 💬. archive footage is always a nice touch 📹, but what really sells this doc for me is the mellow vibe - feels like a Sunday afternoon spent watching old vids with mates ☕️.

🙏 I was really pleased to see Take That getting the love they deserve in this docu-series! It's so refreshing to see those lads open up and share their stories without any bitterness or drama. The way it brings back memories of the 90s Britpop era is like a warm hug 🤗, and you can really feel the nostalgia. I loved how they talked about their early days in gay clubs - who knew that was where Take That's journey started? 😊 It's amazing to see how they've evolved over the years and still have such an impact on music today. If you're a fan of retro pop or just want a heartwarming story, this doc is definitely worth checking out! 👍

I'm low-key obsessed with this Take That docu 🤩 it's like they're speaking right to my soul! I mean, who doesn't love Gary, Mark, and Howard being real about their journey? The 90s vibes are so on point too - I can practically smell the Camden Market scene they're talking about 😍. It's not like a traditional docu, you know, all dry and boring... this one's got heart. They might not spill all the tea, but who cares? We've been holding onto that nostalgia for decades, it's time to appreciate the good stuff 🎉

🙌 gotta say i'm loving this docu on take that! they always were (and still are) one of my fave boybands 🎤👊 what's crazy is how well it captures their journey - from those wild gay club days to becoming one of the biggest acts in britain 🇬🇧❤️ gary, mark & howie are so down to earth and honest about their experiences, it's really refreshing 👍 plus, all that new interview footage is a bonus 💯 anyone else remember those early school gigs? 😂

I think it's kinda weird how they call it a 'rejuvenating' docu when it's basically just them reminiscing and sharing old stuff... 🤔 I mean, I love Take That as much as the next person, but isn't that what we do when we look at old vids on YouTube? 📹 Still, if you're into that sorta thing, then go for it! But personally, I think I need more depth, ya know? It's like, yeah, they were in gay clubs back in the day... whoop-de-doo. Where's the real story? 🤷‍♂️

omg u guys i just watched take thats new netflix doco & i'm totally swooning 🤩🎉 they share some crazy behind-the-scenes stories about their early days & even talk about how they got their start in gay clubs its wild to think about how far they've come! and the archive footage is insane, so many clips of them performing live back in the day 💃🕺 i love how they're not bitter about anything, just really grateful for their journey & all the amazing music they made 🎶

I'm loving this docu-series on Take That! 🤩 It's like getting a warm hug from your old fave band... it's nostalgia overload in the best way possible 😊. I mean, who doesn't love revisiting those school assembly gigs and seeing the lads being their goofy selves? 🎉 Gary, Mark, and Howard opening up about their experiences is super refreshing too - it feels like we're getting a peek into their private lives without any drama or shade 🤫. And that mid-90s vibe? Totally on point! 👌 It's amazing how Take That's music still holds up today... this docu-series is the perfect way to rekindle your love for 90s pop and share it with a whole new generation 🎶.
