Tears at shelter dog’s reaction the moment he meets his new family

A Shelter Dog's Joyful Reunion: From Trauma to Tail Wags

Meet Wallace, a resilient dog who has overcome unimaginable trauma to find love and happiness with his new family. The 20-something canine, shot multiple times at the end of last year, was taken in by Stray Rescue of St. Louis after being found critically injured.

A dedicated team of volunteers had been visiting Wallace every week since he arrived, forming a strong bond with him as he recovered from life-saving surgery. Their patience and love were evident when they shared a heartwarming video on Facebook, showcasing Wallace's excitement to see his future family.

Wallace's story is a poignant reminder of the struggles faced by countless animals in shelters across the country. With over 10 million animals estimated to die from abuse or cruelty each year in the US, it's a staggering statistic that highlights the need for support and care for these vulnerable creatures.

The internet was quick to react to Wallace's video, with many viewers expressing their joy and admiration for the dog's resilience. "Every dog should get this happy ending," one commenter said. As news of Wallace's adoption spread, he finally got the love and safety he deserved after a traumatic start in life.

For those looking to share the happiness of their own pets, Newsweek invites you to submit your favorite photos or videos of your furry friends to be featured in our Pet of the Week lineup. With stories like Wallace's, it's clear that with love and support, animals can overcome even the darkest of beginnings and find their forever homes.

🐕😒 I mean, it's great that Wallace got a happy ending and all, but let's be real, he's still gonna have PTSD from those gunshot wounds 😩. And don't even get me started on the 10 million animals that are still out there suffering... it's just too much 🤯. I'm glad people are sharing their pet pics and vids, but can we please focus on solving the systemic issues in shelters instead of just giving cute animal pictures a bunch of likes and comments? 📸👀

I just watched this crazy story about a shelter dog named Wallace 🐶😍 and I gotta say, it's a total reminder that life is all about perspective 🌞. This little guy went from being shot multiple times to becoming one of the happiest dogs around, all thanks to some amazing volunteers who gave him love and care when he needed it most ❤️. It makes you think, what if we approach our own struggles with a similar sense of hope and resilience? Can't help but feel inspired by Wallace's story and I'm sure we can learn a thing or two from his tail wags 😊

😊 I'm so happy for Wallace! It's just heartbreaking to think about what he went through before meeting his new family. 🐾💕 But his story is also a reminder that there are still so many good people out there who care and want to make a difference in the lives of animals like him. 10 million dogs alone can't be wrong, right? 🤯 It's amazing how one video can bring people together and spread joy. I love that Newsweek is featuring pet stories like Wallace's - it's definitely made my day! ❤️

😩 I'm getting chills just watching that video of Wallace! It's so heartbreaking how he was shot multiple times & ended up in a shelter. But wow, those volunteers are angels! I mean, who else would take the time to visit him every week like that? 🤗 They really helped him heal & get back to his happy self. It's amazing how much love & care can make a difference in an animal's life. If more people were as kind & patient with animals in shelters, maybe we wouldn't have so many stats like 10 million animals dying each year 😔🐶

I just saw this super cute video of a dog named Wallace who was shot multiple times and now he's living his best life with a new family 🐾💕 I'm really happy for him, but it made me think, how many other animals are out there like him? I mean, 10 million animals die from abuse or cruelty each year... that's just crazy 🤯. It makes you wonder what we can do to help these poor creatures. My cat, Luna, is super spoiled and lucky to have a family who takes care of her, but I know not all animals are as fortunate 😔. Maybe sharing stories like Wallace's on social media can raise awareness and get more people to adopt from shelters? 🤗

I'm so happy for this poor dog 🐶😊, but we gotta talk about the system here... Like, 10 million animals dying from abuse or cruelty each year is just wild 🤯. We need more than just love and support to make a real difference 🙏. Our shelters need to be doing better, providing better care and finding those animals homes way faster 💨. I'm all for sharing happy pet pics, but what about the ones that don't get picked up? That's what gets me 😔. Still, I'm glad Wallace found his forever family 🎉. We should all strive to be more like the volunteers who took care of him ❤️.

🐾💕 oh my gosh, this story is literally breaking my heart but at the same time it's so beautiful to see how much joy Wallace found after being through so much trauma 🤩. I mean, 10 million animals die in shelters every year and it's just heartbreaking. But hearing about Wallace's journey and seeing that adorable video of him wagging his tail is just the best reminder that there are still good people out there who care 💖. And I love that Newsweek is doing this Pet of the Week thing, I'm definitely going to submit some pics of my pup 🐶❤️.
