Texas True Crime: Lovers' Lane Murders

Houston, Texas is still reeling from a senseless crime that took place nearly four decades ago, when the bodies of young lovers Cheryl Henry and Andy Atkinson were found brutally murdered on a secluded road in the west side of the city.

On a fateful summer night in 1990, 22-year-old Cheryl and her 21-year-old boyfriend Andy had planned a date at Bayou Mamma's club. However, the evening took a deadly turn when they failed to return home with their friends. A frantic search ensued, which led police to their car parked near a remote wooded area. It was there that investigators discovered the horrifying truth: Cheryl had been subjected to an unspeakable act of violence, while Andy was found tied to a tree.

The case sent shockwaves through the community, as friends and family struggled to come to terms with the tragic loss of two young lives. The police were initially confident that they would unravel the mystery, but months turned into years, and even after 17 years, no one was ever arrested or charged in connection with their murders.

Despite numerous dead ends, detectives have continued to follow new leads and investigate fresh DNA evidence. A match was recently found between the crime scene DNA and an unknown suspect in another woman's assault. However, so far, the killer remains at large.

The Henry and Atkinson families continue to hold on to hope that justice will be served one day. As they wait for answers, their memories of Andy and Cheryl remain vivid, a painful reminder of what could have been. "I wish he was here," says Ann Fowler, Andy's mother, her voice barely above a whisper.

As forensic technology advances, the families are optimistic that new evidence may finally crack the case. But for now, the question remains: who killed Cheryl Henry and Andy Atkinson on Lovers Lane? The answers remain elusive, leaving behind only heartbreak and unanswered questions.

The Lovers' Lane Murders have become a haunting reminder of the darkness that can lurk in the shadows of even the most seemingly idyllic communities. It is a tragic case that continues to haunt the people of Houston, 35 years on from that fateful night when two young lives were brutally taken away.

omg this case is soooo heartbreaking i feel like the henry & atkinson fams have been through hell nd back πŸ€• they deserve 2 get some justice 4eva!! its crazy how 35 yrs went by n still no one was held accountable 4 these heinous crimes. forensic tech is supposed 2 help solve this case, but im not holding my breath lol n the fact that it matched w/ another womans assault is like...wow what r we gonna do 2 stop ppl from hurting each other? its just so frustrating πŸ’”

🌫️ I'm really sorry for Cheryl and Andy's families, it's been such a long time since they've gotten any answers... it's like they just vanished into thin air πŸ’” The fact that the killer is still out there is terrifying πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ I wish forensic technology could move faster, it's crazy how much evidence can be found now compared to back then πŸ” But what's even more heartbreaking is how many people in Houston are still living with this trauma 🀯 It's like they're carrying around a secret that no one else knows, and it's just not fair πŸ˜•

πŸ’” this case is like a shadow that won't leave no matter how far we run it's like our memories of loved ones get stuck in time and all we can do is hold on to hope that justice will come eventually πŸ•ŠοΈ the thing that bothers me is not even knowing who could've done such a heinous act, what kind of person would kill two young souls just because their love was pure πŸ’– it's like when you think about it, even in our darkest moments, there's always a glimmer of light, and for those families, that light has been flickering for 35 years now, but I have faith that with time, they'll find peace ❀️

this crime is still so fresh in ppl minds 🀯 it's crazy how 35 yrs have passed n no one has been held accountable πŸ˜” cheryl & andy were just two innocent young souls, livin their best life πŸ’• their memories should never be forgotten πŸ™ the family's hope for justice remains strong 🌟 but it's heartbreaking to see them still searching for answers after all these yrs πŸ’” maybe new tech will help crack the case πŸ€” or will we keep hearing "we'll catch u someday" 😎

I cant believe its been like 35 yrs since those poor kids got murdered 😱 They should've caught the person by now tho... I mean, DNA tech has gotten so much better, they gotta be able to find a match by now πŸ€”. Its sad that their families are still waiting for answers, and no one's ever held accountable for what happened. It just shows how messed up our system can be sometimes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

Ugh πŸ€• this is so sad! The fact that no one's been arrested or charged in 17 yrs is just not right 😩 it's like the system failed them. I think new DNA evidence might be their only hope πŸ’‘ but you never know, it could take yrs for it to match up with the real killer πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈ I feel bad for the families still searching for answers and justice πŸ‘‹

man i feel so bad for those families its been 35 yrs and they still dont know who did this to cheryl and andy its like the world just forgot about them already but at least the cops are still trying to figure it out im hoping that with all this new dna evidence they might finally catch a break but idk if itll ever bring closure to those families i mean you can only hold onto hope for so long lol

πŸ˜” this is so sad... i feel like we're still dealing with a lot of unsolved cases in texas and it's just not right. 35 years is a long time to have no answers, you know? it's like they're still waiting for justice to be served. my heart goes out to the families of cheryl and andy, they must be going through so much pain and uncertainty. πŸ€• i just hope that with all the new technology they can finally get some closure... πŸ“ŠπŸ’»

I cant imagine how hard it must be for Ann Fowler and the rest of the families to keep holding on to hope after all these years πŸ˜”. It's like they're living in a constant state of limbo, waiting for justice that seems so far out of reach πŸ€•. I think what's really frustrating is that all this technology and evidence has been available for decades, but it still hasn't led to an arrest or conviction πŸ’”. As a parent myself, I know how hard it can be to let go of the need for answers and justice for your child πŸ‘Ά. It's like they're not just victims, but also avengable ones 🀬. The police should keep pushing forward with new leads and DNA matches until someone finally gets caught πŸš”. We owe it to Cheryl and Andy's families (and the countless others who've been affected by this case) to keep fighting for truth and justice πŸ’ͺ.

πŸš¨πŸ’” this is so messed up 🀯, i mean can u imagine gettin ur boyfriend killed and nobody gets held accountable? 😩 it's like, what even happened back then? did they not have DNA evidence or somethin'? 🧬 35 yrs go by and no one does anything about it? that's just wrong πŸ’”. the family's still holdin out hope but honestly it's gettin hard to keep believin that justice will come 😩. i feel bad for 'em, losin ur kid like that is traumatising πŸ€•

Wow! This case is still giving me chills πŸ•·οΈ. Four decades have passed and no one's been caught for these heinous crimes? The tech has advanced so much since 1990, it's crazy they haven't been able to catch a break yet πŸ’». I'm with the families on this, hope comes late but justice is what everyone needs πŸ’”.

πŸ€• this is just so heartbreaking... like what's the point of having all these advances in forensic tech if we can't even catch the guy who did this? πŸš” the fact that it's been 35 years and no one's ever been held accountable for this is just mind-blowing. I feel for the families, they deserve so much justice but I don't know how much more of this they can take πŸ’” my heart goes out to Ann Fowler, poor lady... I wish she could get some closure already 😭

man this case is still giving me chills πŸ€• i feel so bad for the families, especially ann's statement "i wish he was here" 😭 it's just not fair to them and their loved ones that they're still waiting for justice 35 years later. i'm glad the police are keeping at it though, even if progress is slow. new dna evidence and all that jazz 🧬 it's like a fresh lead in an old case, hopefully it'll bring us closer to finding out who did this. can you imagine how hard it must be for people living in houston knowing they're still living in a city with an unsolved murder on the loose?
