The man who froze his wife and got a new girlfriend: a stranger, sadder tale than I expected | Imogen West-Knights

So this guy Gui Junmin, he tries cryonics on his wife Zhan Wenlian, and now he's already got a new squeeze Wang Chunxia 🤔... it's all about how we process our emotions when someone close to us dies, right? I mean, you can't just move on with your life while still grieving for the person who passed away. That's not fair to them, or to herself. It's like, what even is the point of cryonics if it's just gonna be a way for people to sidestep their emotions?

And let's talk about the ethics of this whole thing... if Gui was trying to hold on to his wife's memory and now he's moving on with someone else, that's just not right. It's like, can we trust these cryonics labs to actually do what they say they're gonna do? I don't know, man... it all just seems really complicated to me.

But here's the thing: if cryonics does become a reality and people start coming back from the dead, then we gotta have some serious conversations about how we're gonna deal with that. Like, what even happens when someone who was frozen comes back? Do they just pick up right where they left off? It's all pretty wild stuff to think about 🤯

omg 🤯 this whole thing is so messed up lol. I mean, I get it, people grieve in different ways and timelines are crazy but does he really need to jump ship that fast? 😂 Like, what about the wife who thought she was just sleeping for a bit? 🙄 And now she's stuck in a freezer for 30 years while this guy moves on with his life. That's some messed up emotional labor right there 💔

I don't know how people are gonna feel when she comes back (or doesn't) and is like "yeah, I've been living my best life over here" 🙄 meanwhile her husband is all "oh wait, you were frozen for 30 years, what's going on with us?" 😂
