Minneapolis to Experience the Best of Broadway with Hennepin Arts 2026-27 Season

A powerhouse lineup is coming to Minneapolis as part of the newly announced Hennepin Arts 2026-27 season, which promises to deliver bold and unforgettable experiences. With a total of 37 Tony Awards won by its 12 productions, this diverse range of shows will energize downtown Minneapolis and strengthen the local cultural ecosystem.

New season ticket packages are now available for purchase through hennepinarts.org, with current subscribers set to be contacted via email regarding renewal options. Single tickets will go on sale later in the year.

Here's a look at what audiences can expect from the lineup:

A Night of Music and Laughter:
"Clue," a stage adaptation of the popular murder mystery board game, kicks off the season with its October 9-11 engagement. The show has a history that dates back to 1949 when it first debuted in England, inspiring a film, musical, and now a new production.

Musical Delights:
The iconic "Mamma Mia!" takes center stage from September 15-20, featuring the hits of ABBA. This instant hit originated in London in 1999 and ran for nearly 14 years on Broadway. Other notable shows include "Maybe Happy Ending," a musical that explores themes of love and mortality set in Seoul; and "Buena Vista Social Club," which follows the lives of four Cuban musicians during the rise of Fidel Castro.

History and Drama:
"Hadestown" returns to Minneapolis from February 9-14, 2027, with its unique blend of ancient Greek mythology and folk music. This Tony Award-winning show has been running on Broadway since 2019 and has won eight Tonys, including best musical.

A Blast from the Past:
Fans of classic rock will be thrilled to see "The Who's Tommy" on stage from March 30-April 4, 2027. Based on Pete Townshend's hit album, this production tells the story of a young man who becomes a spiritual leader and messianic figure.

Timeless Musical Storytelling:
Lin-Manuel Miranda's hip hop masterpiece "Hamilton" will return to Minneapolis from April 20-May 16, 2027, after its Off-Broadway debut in 2015. This groundbreaking show has captured hearts with its innovative blend of music, dance, and history.

A Little Bit of Spooky Fun:
The beloved film "Beetlejuice" comes to life on stage from June 25-27, 2027, as a musical adaptation that follows a deceased couple who are haunting their former home. The show has been a hit on the road but didn't recoup its investment when it first opened on Broadway.

More Music and Legacy:
Finally, audiences will have the chance to experience Alicia Keys' "Hell's Kitchen" from July 13-18, 2027, with a jukebox musical that explores her life and career. This show is set to be a great addition to the Hennepin Arts lineup, bringing the excitement of Broadway to Minneapolis once again.

With its incredible range of productions, the Hennepin Arts 2026-27 season promises an unforgettable experience for theater lovers in Minneapolis.

Man... I'm both hyped and nostalgic about this new season 🤩🎭. I mean, who doesn't love a good murder mystery show like "Clue"? And can we talk about how iconic "Mamma Mia!" is? It's amazing to see all these classic shows coming back to Minneapolis. But at the same time, I'm also feeling a little old-school vibes from this lineup... like, remember when Broadway was still relatively new and groundbreaking? 🤔

And then there are the musicals that are just so... nostalgic. Like "The Who's Tommy" - who doesn't love a good rock opera? And "Hamilton" is just... what can I even say? It's like Lin-Manuel Miranda took all the best parts of American history and turned them into a hip-hop masterpiece 🎤.

But what really gets me is how this season is all about celebrating both old-school classics and new, innovative works. Like, we've got "Beetlejuice" - a musical adaptation that's basically just a fun, spooky romp... and then we've got Alicia Keys' "Hell's Kitchen", which is like the ultimate jukebox musical 🎸.

Anyway, I'm super stoked to see what this season has in store. Can't wait to get my tickets and experience all these amazing shows! 👏

just heard about the new hennepin arts season 🎭👏 can't wait to see "clue" and "mamma mia!" live it's gonna be a busy year with so many awesome shows comin' through minneapolis ❤️

I'm low-key stoked about this new Broadway lineup coming to Minneapolis 🤩! It's like they're bringing a piece of New York City right into our own backyard. I mean, who doesn't love a good musical or comedy show? Clue and Mamma Mia are on the schedule, which is already giving me life 😂. And can we talk about Hadestown and Hamilton for like 10 minutes straight? Those shows are pure magic ✨. The fact that they're doing Beetlejuice as a musical sounds kinda weird but in a good way... I need to check that out 🤔. Alicia Keys' show is gonna be so much fun, it's like the ultimate celebration of music and life 🎉. I'm definitely getting season tickets – can't wait to experience all this awesomeness downtown!

I don’t usually comment but... I think it’s so cool that Minneapolis is getting some amazing shows from Broadway! 🤩 They have such a great lineup with all these different types of productions - comedy, musicals, drama... something for everyone. And I love how they're bringing back some old favorites like "Beetlejuice" and "Hamilton". It's gonna be awesome to see these shows live on stage in Minneapolis! 💖

I'm not buying it... all these big-name shows are just gonna be overpriced and touristy 🤑. What's the real value here? Are we gonna see a lot of local talent being showcased or is this just a bunch of Broadway imports coming to town? And what about the environmental impact of all these touring productions? I mean, have you seen the carbon footprint of those giant stage sets? 🌎 It's just another example of how our cities are getting gentrified and losing their character.

OMG 🤩 I'm so stoked about this new season in Minneapolis!!! 🎭 The lineup is literally amazing - everything from classic rock to hip hop and musicals that'll make you wanna sing along 💖! And can we talk about the diversity of shows? It's like, they're bringing a piece of Broadway right into our own backyard 🌳! I'm already planning my calendar for next year and which shows I wanna see first 😂. Single tickets will be on sale later this year, so I'll def be keeping an eye out for those. And hey, it's not like we haven't got some great musicals in the city already, but this is a whole new level of excitement! 🎉

I'm so stoked about this new season 🎉! I think it's awesome that they're bringing in such a diverse range of shows - from musicals like Mamma Mia and Hamilton to more unique productions like Clue and Beetlejuice (who wouldn't want to see the musical adaptation of their fave film? 🤣). It sounds like there's something for everyone. I'm also loving that they're including some classic rock shows, like The Who's Tommy - it'll be so cool to see this iconic album come to life on stage. And I'm sure Alicia Keys' Hell's Kitchen will be an amazing addition to the lineup too! Can't wait to get my hands on those season tickets 🎟️

omg i'm so hyped for this new season!!! 🤩🎭 i've been waiting forever for "Mamma Mia!" to come to minneapolis and now that it's announced for sept, i need to get tickets ASAP! 😍 and can u believe we're getting to see "Hamilton" again?!?! 🙌 lin-manuel miranda is literally the genius behind this show and i know i'll be crying happy tears during every performance 💧🎶 but what about a "beetlejuice" musical?!?! that's gotta be my fave show of the whole season, can't wait to see it come to life on stage 🤪💀

🤔 just saw this news about hennepin arts and i'm super excited! they're bringing some amazing shows to minneapolis next year i mean who doesn't love broadway? 🎭 it's great that they're offering season tickets now, should be pretty affordable too 🤑 can't wait to see clue, mamma mia, hadestown, tommy, hamilton, and beetlejuice live on stage! 🤩

Ugh, another bunch of overpriced Broadway shows coming to town... Like people are actually going to shell out hundreds of bucks to sit through a few hours of mediocre acting and outdated music 🤑. And don't even get me started on the fact that they're calling it "theatre" instead of just saying "a bunch of actors singing and dancing".

I mean, what's next? Are they gonna start charging us for air? It's just going to be a bunch of rich people pretending to be cultural enthusiasts, sipping their overpriced coffee and checking their watches 🕰️. And the fact that it's all being shoved down our throats as "art" is just lazy marketing at its finest 💁‍♀️.

so they're gonna bring broadway to minneapolis 🎭 and just hope we don't all get lost in the sea of sparkly costumes and oversized wigs... i mean, who needs personal space when you can have a 2-hour rendition of "mamma mia"? anyway, at least we'll finally get to see some new stuff, like that one musical about cuba (finally bringing some culture to this city, not that anyone is missing it) 🎶
