Transylvania Open final: Emma Raducanu beaten in straight sets by Sorana Cirstea

British number one Emma Raducanu's hopes of a first title since her US Open triumph in 2021 were dashed as she was trounced by Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the Transylvania Open final. The 35-year-old Cirstea, who is in the final year of her career, surged to a 6-0 6-2 victory in front of her home crowd.

Raducanu, who was the top seed and struggling with injuries, looked tired and lacking in energy after her valiant effort to battle past Oleksandra Oliynykova in three sets. She lasted just an hour and three minutes on court against Cirstea.

The British player had levelled the second set at 2-2 after having her blood pressure taken, but Cirstea regained control quickly. A double fault by Raducanu at championship point ended any hopes of the Briton winning a second senior trophy.

Raducanu admitted that she didn't feel so good on court and was "pretty gassed" from the start. However, she praised Cirstea for playing an incredible match from the start and putting pressure on her.

The defeat is another blow to Raducanu's quest for consistency on the WTA Tour. She has been plagued with injuries since 2021 and struggled to find form in January after a second-round exit from the Australian Open.

Ugh, what a disappointing loss for Emma Raducanu ๐Ÿค•. I mean, she was the top seed and all, but you'd think that would give her an advantage. Nope, instead she looks like a shadow of her former self on the court, struggling with injuries and energy levels. 6-0 is a pretty big margin to recover from ๐Ÿ˜“. And to make matters worse, she's just going through the motions, looking tired and gassed from the start. I mean, what was she expecting? A miracle win against a seasoned pro like Cirstea in her final year of career? Not gonna happen ๐Ÿ’”. This is just another step back for Raducanu after a pretty rough past few years on the WTA Tour...

๐Ÿ˜” Emma Raducanu got totally smashed by Sorana Cirstea ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, she was already struggling with injuries and looked super tired on court ๐Ÿ˜“. The Briton's chances of winning her first title since 2021 were basically over as soon as the match started โฐ. And that double fault at championship point? Game over for Raducanu ๐ŸŽพ๐Ÿ˜ณ.

I feel bad for Emma, she's been having a tough time with injuries and hasn't found her form yet ๐Ÿค•. Cirstea was on fire though ๐Ÿ”ฅ, it's no surprise she won so convincingly in front of her home crowd ๐ŸŽ‰! Raducanu gave props to Cirstea for putting pressure on her, but I think it's clear that the Romanian player was just too strong on this day ๐Ÿ’ช.

"It's not over till it's over" ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Emma Raducanu might be feeling frustrated right now, but we can't help but feel for her - injuries have been holding her back since 2021! Guess she needs to take a deep breath and "keep going" ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ.

I'm loving how old Sorana Cirstea is getting away with still smashing it on court ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘! I mean, 35 isn't old at all for a pro tennis player - most guys are lucky to be alive by then ๐Ÿคฃ. And Emma Raducanu's injuries? Yeah, maybe she should just take a break and come back when her body (and mind) is ready? I get that she wants another title, but chasing a dream that's already slipping away isn't doing anyone any favors ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. The WTA Tour needs some consistency too, not just from the players, but also the coaches and physios - it's time for some change ๐Ÿ‘Š

Ugh, I'm so bummed for Emma Raducanu ๐Ÿค•... she was on fire just last year at the US Open and now it's like her career is stalled ๐Ÿ˜”. 35 years old is not old in tennis, but still, that final was a total rout. I get that Cirstea played an amazing match from start to finish ๐Ÿ‘, but Raducanu looked like she was running on fumes out there ๐Ÿ’จ. And the injuries are just getting the best of her ๐Ÿค•... it's so frustrating for fans who invested in her and were rooting for her all along ๐Ÿ˜”. I guess we'll have to wait and see what 2025 brings for her - hopefully a bounce back year! ๐Ÿ’ช

aww, looks like Emma's having a tough time ๐Ÿค•... poor lass can't seem to catch a break, all these injuries & not feeling right on court ๐Ÿ˜ž... Cirstea played an amazing match tho! ๐ŸŽ‰ She totally deserved that win! ๐Ÿ‘ 35 and still killing it! ๐Ÿ’ช Raducanu's got heart for trying again tho, even if she didn't get the result ๐Ÿ˜Š. Onwards & upwards, right? ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ˜ Emma Raducanu's chances of winning her first title since 2021 got crushed ๐Ÿค• by Sorana Cirstea, which is kinda sad given she was the top seed. I mean, you can't fault her for giving it her all after being taken out mid-set to get her blood pressure checked... that's just part of the game, right? ๐Ÿ’‰ But, honestly, Raducanu looked super drained on court and like she didn't have the energy to even play a full set. ๐Ÿคฏ Maybe it's time for her to take care of herself more so she can compete at the top level again? ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿ˜ Emma Raducanu's loss to Sorana Cirstea is a bit of a blow, but not entirely unexpected, considering her injury-plagued history ๐Ÿค•. The fact that she looked tired and lacking energy suggests that the physical demands of the game are starting to take their toll ๐Ÿ’ช. While it's admirable that Raducanu praised Cirstea for her impressive performance, it's hard not to feel a bit sorry for her - she's been searching for consistency since her 2021 US Open win ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ.

The WTA Tour can be unforgiving, especially when you're dealing with chronic injuries ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. It's possible that Raducanu needs to reassess her approach to managing her physical health and finding ways to maintain her fitness levels throughout the season ๐Ÿ’ผ. For now, it seems like she'll have to wait another day for her next title ๐Ÿ†.

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ, what a difference a year makes! Emma Raducanu was so hyped after that US Open win but it seems like she's back to square one ๐Ÿค•. Can't say I'm surprised though, injuries can be such a bummer ๐Ÿ’”. Cirstea totally deserved the win and her home crowd must've loved seeing her take down the Brit ๐Ÿ™Œ. Raducanu's gotta get that form sorted ASAP or it'll be tough to compete in the big tournaments ๐Ÿ†. Interesting how quickly things can change in tennis though... ๐Ÿ˜…

Emma Raducanu's career just isn't clicking together right now ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿธ. She had that US Open win all those years ago, but it seems like she's been stuck on injury mode ever since ๐Ÿ“‰. And to make matters worse, she was completely out of sync with her gameplan โ€“ the blood pressure test is becoming a bit of a meme at this point ๐Ÿ˜‚. But seriously, Cirstea played an awesome match and deserved that win ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ. Maybe Raducanu needs to sit back, re-evaluate her training and get those injuries sorted out? ๐Ÿคž
