Trump touts short-term deal with China after Xi meeting

US President Donald Trump has hailed a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping as "amazing" following a 1-hour-and-45-minute bilateral discussion in South Korea. The two leaders reached agreements on reducing tariffs on Chinese imports, delaying restrictions on rare earth mineral exports, and securing purchases of American soybeans and other farm products.

Trump announced that the US has agreed to lower its tariffs on China from 57% to 47%, with the rate on certain goods being reduced from 20% to 10%. He also said that China would delay imposing dramatic restrictions on rare earth minerals, key materials for producing computer chips.

As part of the one-year agreement, Beijing will begin purchasing American soybeans "immediately," according to Trump. The deal covers not just soybeans but other farm products as well. However, Taiwan was not discussed during the talks between the two leaders.

Trump stated that Russia's war in Ukraine was a topic of discussion, with both leaders agreeing on de-escalation efforts. China's purchases of oil from Russia were also touched upon by Trump, although no agreement was reached on this matter.

A meeting is scheduled for April, with Xi then visiting the US "sometime after". Chinese officials confirmed that Beijing looks forward to working together with the US to implement and promote a positive Sino-US relationship.

Trump thinks a 1 hour 45 min chat with Xi is amazing πŸ€”πŸ‘€. I'm not so sure about this one... it sounds like some major concessions for the US, especially with those tariffs getting slashed from 57% to 47%. What's the catch? Are we sacrificing something more valuable in return? Also, why did Taiwan get left out of the talks? That does raise some red flags 🚨.

Ugh πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, can't believe how slow these trade deals are going... I mean, 1 hour and 45 minutes of talks and we finally get some agreements? It's like they're trying to make it as complicated as possible πŸ˜’. And 57% tariffs gone down to 47%, big whoop πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I'm still waiting for some actual meaningful changes in the trade war... And Taiwan, come on, completely left out of this whole thing πŸ™„. Can't even get those guys included? It feels like we're just patching up things so Trump can say he's got something done πŸ€”. Not buying it πŸ˜’

OMG yaaas!! 🀩 I'm so hyped about this news!!! Trump & Xi finally got something done after all those trade wars! Lowering tariffs on China from 57% to 47% is huge, it's gonna bring in more American jobs and stimulate the economy. And the fact that they agreed to delay restrictions on rare earth minerals is a big win for tech companies πŸ€–πŸ’». I'm also loving the soybeans deal - America needs those exports! 😊 Russia-Ukraine talks were a great addition too, let's hope both countries can work together on de-escalation efforts πŸ’ͺ. Can't wait to see what comes out of this one-year agreement in April πŸŽ‰πŸ‘€

Just read about this new trade deal between the US & China 🀝🏻... gotta say, it's like they're taking small steps in the right direction. Reducing tariffs & delaying restrictions on rare earth minerals is a good start 🌱. I hope it sets a precedent for more cooperation in the future πŸ’ͺ. And let's not forget those soybeans - American farmers will be happy to see the demand coming their way 😊. Still, can't help but wonder if this deal addresses the underlying issues between the two countries or just puts a Band-Aid on them πŸ€”. Nonetheless, it's heartening to see both sides agreeing on some things... here's hoping for more progress in the months to come πŸ’•.

I mean, I'm not sure if I trust these agreements, you know? On one hand, lowering tariffs on Chinese imports might be good for businesses, but then again, China's got some serious environmental issues that we should be worried about... and what about those human rights concerns in Xinjiang? πŸ€” It's all so complicated.

I'm glad they agreed to delay restrictions on rare earth minerals, though - it's like, super important for our tech industry. But, I don't know, 47% tariffs still sounds kinda steep to me... and what about the soybeans? Are we just going to sell them off cheaply or something? 🌽️

And omg, no discussion about Taiwan?! That's so suspicious. It's like, they're hiding something from us. But at the same time, I don't want to be that person who's always conspiracy-theorizing... maybe it was just a weird day of diplomacy πŸ˜…. Anyway, I guess only time will tell if this deal actually works out... 🀞

Man, I'm still trying to process what just went down πŸ˜‚! So Trump and Xi had this massive meeting and they came out of it all smiles and handshakes 🀝. The thing that's got me going is how fast they're moving on those tariffs πŸ“‰. Lowering them from 57% to 47% is a huge deal, but I'm still not sure if it's enough to get China back into the US market πŸ’Έ.

And can we talk about Taiwan for a second? πŸ€” Trump didn't even mention the guy πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. Like what's going on there? That was supposed to be part of the agreement, right? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

But I guess it's all good because China is buying American soybeans ASAP 🌾. Maybe this will be a turning point for US farmers who've been struggling for years 🌱. Fingers crossed that Russia and Ukraine can just chill out already ⚠️. Who knows what the next meeting with Xi will bring? πŸ€”

I'm telling you something weird about this whole thing... πŸ€” Trump says they reached agreements on reducing tariffs and stuff, but have you seen the fine print? There's gotta be some hidden deal somewhere that we're not aware of. I mean, why would China agree to so many concessions if it was all just a nice gesture? And what about Taiwan? That's a huge elephant in the room, and they skipped right over it like it wasn't even there. And don't even get me started on the soybeans... 🌽️ is that just a smokescreen for something more sinister? This whole thing feels too good to be true...

thinkin bout this whole trade deal, its like how fragile our global relations really are 🀯... one minute you're at war, next min you're shaking hands & making deals... i mean, 57% tariffs? that's crazy talk πŸ˜‚... think about all the ppl who make a livin from those exports & imports... now they gotta play the tariff game... china's just tryna get back in the game, america's just tryna keep the wheels turnin πŸ”„... but what does it really mean for us, as consumers? πŸ€” do we care that our soybeans are gonna be cheaper or that our computer chips are gonna be made with more rare earths? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” I'm kinda surprised by how optimistic Trump is about this deal πŸ€‘ Lowering tariffs and relaxing some restrictions on China sounds like a win-win for both countries, especially on farm products 🌾. The fact that China agreed to buy American soybeans immediately shows they're willing to make some compromises. But, let's be real, it's not like we haven't seen this all before πŸ˜’. Still, if it means less tension between the two superpowers, I'm all for it πŸ’•

OMG I'm like super duper hyped about this US China deal!!! 🀩😍 Trump is literally a genius for getting those tariffs down from 57% to 47%! And Chiina agreeing to buy American soybeans ASAP? That's a major win for the USA! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ I was worried that things were gonna get worse with all the trade wars and stuff, but it looks like Trump pulled off an amazing deal. Can't wait for Xi to come to the US in April! It's gonna be so cool to see those two leaders meet in person πŸ€πŸ»πŸ’Ό

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this deal 🀯. I mean, 1 hour-and-45 minutes is like, what even is that? You'd think there's more to it than just a quick chat. But hey, if it leads to lower tariffs and China buying up our soybeans, I'm all for it 🌽. The thing that really caught my attention was Russia's war in Ukraine though - I wish both sides could just talk things out instead of resorting to violence πŸ’”. And yeah, it's cool that they agreed on de-escalation efforts, but like, what's the end goal here? Is this just a temporary truce or are we actually seeing some real progress? Only time will tell πŸ•°οΈ.
