TV tonight: David Dimbleby's huge series about the the royal family

BBC One has got its money on David Dimbleby's epic three-parter about the monarchy, which kicks off with a bang tonight at 9pm. The veteran journalist and presenter is no stranger to royal coverage, having reported on countless high-profile events over the years. But this time, he's taking a deep dive into the role of the royals in modern Britain.

In the first episode, Dimbleby examines whether the monarchy is truly impartial when it comes to politics, using letters written by King Charles III during his time as Prince of Wales to Tony Blair, among other documents. He also speaks to insiders like David Cameron and critics like journalist Ash Sarkar.

The show promises to be a juicy mix of politics, history, and even a bit of soap opera drama – according to Ian Hislop, "It's the ultimate soap, isn't it?" Whatever that means.

Tonight at 7:30pm on BBC Two, Mary Berry is back with her latest culinary series, where she invites ghost star Kiell Smith-Bynoe along for the ride as they whip up a four-course dinner party. It promises to be a feast of foodie fun and games.

Later on BBC One, it's the final week of heats in Celebrity MasterChef, with no eliminations tonight but plenty of pressure on the contestants to bring their A-game. They'll be facing off in challenges like turning a single ingredient into a star dish and navigating a blindfolded palate test.

And if you're looking for some reality TV thrills, Tommy: The Good, The Bad, The Fury is back with another double bill tonight on BBC Three, featuring Love Islander turned boxing pro Tommy Fury. Will he be able to navigate the highs and lows of his personal life amidst a tough physical training regimen?

On Channel 5 at 8pm, Cooper & Fry are heading into disused quarry territory to investigate a murder – but will they uncover any real answers among all the red herrings?

Last but not least, if you're in the mood for some adrenaline-fueled travelogue action, World's Most Dangerous Roads is back with Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and Saoirse-Monica Jackson braving the rugged Romanian mountains. It's their fifth trip together this year – and it looks like they'll be going off-road like never before.

Will you be tuning in to any of these shows tonight?

OMG, I'm so down for that David Dimbleby show 🤯! As a Brit, it's crazy to think about the royals and their role in modern politics. I mean, it's not like we haven't been talking about this stuff for ages, but maybe it'll be interesting to see some behind-the-scenes docs with King Charles III's own words. And Ash Sarkar as a critic? That's a nice touch 😂. Can't wait to watch it and see what all the fuss is about!

idk about david dimbleby's show, seems like just another royal propaganda fest 🤑 i need some solid sources on the king's letters to tony blair before i believe this is more than just a PR stunt. and what's up with mary berry inviting kiell smith-bynoe? didn't she fire him from her baking show last year?

Ugh, can't believe they're doing another docu on the monarchy 🙄. Like we haven't heard that same old song and dance before. And David Dimbleby's just gonna regurgitate all the same old facts and opinions from his mates in the establishment 🤷‍♂️. I mean, what's the point of even doing a show if you're not gonna bring some real heat? 😒

And on the other hand, Mary Berry's cooking show is always so soothing 🍴. Kiell Smith-Bynoe seems like a nice guy too, hope they have some fun together on that show 💕.

Celebrity MasterChef is always entertaining, but I'm not feeling the pressure on tonight's episode... might just stick to my own recipes 🍰

And what's up with Tommy Fury? Boxing pro or reality TV star? 🤔 Can't decide whether he's more annoying or fascinating 😂.

Cooper & Fry are a nice combo, always seem so chill and intelligent 👍. Hopefully they can get some decent clues out of that murder mystery 🔍

World's Most Dangerous Roads sounds like my kind of show 🏃‍♀️! Jamie-Lee and Saoirse-Monica always make travel look so exciting 💥

Wow 🤯
I'm actually really intrigued by David Dimbleby's show on the monarchy, I love a good deep dive into British history and politics. It sounds like it's gonna be super interesting to see him go through all those letters from King Charles III...

omg i cant wait for david dimbleby's 3-parter about the monarchy, its been ages since we've had a deep dive into their role in modern britain 💁‍♀️👑! i'm really intrigued by the use of letters written by king charles iii during his time as prince of wales - it sounds like it could be super juicy 🤫! and who knows, maybe we'll even get some tea on david cameron's royal connections 😉. fingers crossed its not too dry for me! 🙏

im lowkey excited for that david dimbleby thing tho 🤔, i mean, cant say ill be watching every single episode but theres something about the way hes gonna dissect those royal docs that sounds really interesting. and who knows maybe its the soap opera drama bit that has me curious... 😏

I'm so down for that David Dimbleby show on BBC One 📺👑, the monarchy thing is always juicy and I love how he's digging into those letters from King Charles III - it's gonna be so interesting to see what he finds out about the royals' stance on politics. And of course, who doesn't love a good drama-filled soap opera? 🍂💁‍♀️ I'm also excited for Mary Berry's cooking show with Kiell Smith-Bynoe, I've heard she's still got the magic in her kitchen 💫👩‍🍳

As for Celebrity MasterChef, I wish they wouldn't have all those eliminations on the final week of heats, it's so stressful watching them 🤯💔. And don't even get me started on World's Most Dangerous Roads - those girls are literally crazy! 😂🏔️ But hey at least they're having a blast doing it 💖

I'm gonna be tuning in to that Cooper & Fry murder mystery show, I love true crime documentaries and this one looks so intriguing 🧐💀. And lastly, I'll definitely be watching Tommy: The Good, The Bad, The Fury with Love Islander Tommy Fury - boxing and reality TV is always a win-win for me 🥊😎

Omg, I'm so down for David Dimbleby's show 🤯! I love how he's gonna dig into the royals' role in politics – it's like, really relevant right now. And using letters from King Charles III himself is wild, lol. I've always wondered if they're super impartial, you know? Anyway, gotta tune in to see what drama unfolds 📺👑

Ugh, I'm sure David Dimbleby is just gonna make everything so... bland 🙄. Like, who cares about the monarchy? It's all just a bunch of old people with funny hats and outdated traditions. And what's with King Charles III writing letters to Tony Blair? Sounds like he's trying too hard to be relatable or something.

And Mary Berry's cooking show is probably gonna be all cheesy 🧀, I mean, who watches a whole episode about making dinner parties? Can't we just have a foodie documentary without all the cutesy drama?

I'm not even sure why I'd bother watching Celebrity MasterChef anymore... it's always just the same old contestants with no actual talent 🤦‍♀️. And don't even get me started on reality TV – Tommy: The Good, The Bad, The Fury sounds like a complete trainwreck to me.

But hey, at least Cooper & Fry are investigating some real crimes for once... that's the only redeeming quality of any of these shows 🕵️‍♂️.

I'm thinking of watching that David Dimbleby show on BBC One, it sounds really interesting. I mean, who doesn't want to know more about the royals and their role in politics? 🤔 It's always juicy when they're involved, right? But at the same time, I'm not sure if I'll be glued to the screen or just flipping between shows tonight. Maybe I'll watch an episode of Celebrity MasterChef instead, those cooking challenges are always entertaining! 👨‍🍳 What about you, who's your go-to show on a Wednesday night? 📺

omg i'm so down for that david dimbleby show 🤯 i've been following the monarchy drama for ages and a deep dive sounds perfect! plus who doesn't love a good royal scandal 😏 i might not catch the mary berry show but i'll def be watching celebrity masterchef - those blindfolded palate tests are always entertaining 👅 and have you seen the trailer for world's most dangerous roads? 🚨 those Romanian mountains look treacherous!!

I gotta say, I'm a bit skeptical about this David Dimbleby special on the monarchy 🤔. I mean, we already know the royals are involved in politics, so it's not exactly breaking news, right? But hey, if you're into that sort of thing, go for it. Just don't expect me to be eating up every juicy gossip-filled minute like some kind of royal soap opera fan 🍂👀. And what's with the drama from Ian Hislop - "It's the ultimate soap"? Like, okay Ian... 🙄
