Ulster v Benetton: McCloskey injury not long-term and Bell to sit out Benetton game

Ulster face a challenging return to action this weekend against Benetton, with Stuart McCloskey expected to miss the game due to injury. The Irish centre initially suffered a groin strain during Ireland's autumn international series but re-injured himself during their win over Australia last week.

Despite this setback, Ulster head coach Richie Murphy has reassured fans that McCloskey is on track for a quick recovery, with the centre likely to return to action within weeks. "He's not too bad," Murphy said in an interview with BBC Sport NI. "He obviously picked up a groin injury with Ireland and reaggravated it but the signs are quite positive."

McCloskey will have to wait at least one more game for his chance to get back on the pitch, however, as he is set to sit out Ulster's URC clash against Benetton. The 25-year-old Australia prop Angus Bell has also arrived in Belfast after a hectic period of international fixtures, but will not feature against the Italian opponents this weekend.

Murphy acknowledged that Benetton were a "very dense" and well-funded team, with a strong squad and big budget. However, he remained confident that Ulster could get back to winning ways in front of their home fans at the Affidea Stadium on Friday night.

"We just have to look after ourselves," Murphy said. "We've had a really good block over the last three weeks and the lads have worked really hard in training so we're looking forward to getting back at it [on] Friday night."

The province will enter a 10-match bloc, with six URC games and participation in the Challenge Cup on the European stage. They face two French teams - Racing 92 and Stade Francais - at home and travel to take on Cardiff and the Cheetahs.

Murphy highlighted that while the French teams were top-class opponents, it was crucial for Ulster to focus on their own development and work towards getting into the top tier of Europe.

ugh can you believe this ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ like stuart mccloskey is injured AGAIN?! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ i mean i know he's supposed to be "not too bad" but it's just not fair to the team, ya know? they need him now more than ever. and benetton is just gonna take advantage of this ๐Ÿค‘ Richie murphy says they're a "very dense" and well-funded team... yeah no kidding, dude ๐Ÿ’ธ i mean i'm glad he's confident in our abilities but come on, we can't lose to anyone right now ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

๐Ÿ’ฏ just hope stuart mccloskey is back soon, cant imagine ulster without him ๐Ÿคž

but seriously, benetton look like a tough opponent ๐Ÿ“ˆ this guy murphy is saying they need to focus on themselves, makes sense but gotta be realistic about the competition ๐Ÿ”ฅ

OMG, I'm so worried about Ulster ๐Ÿค•! Losing McCloskey is huge for them, especially with Benetton being such a strong team ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Richie Murphy's confidence in their chances to win at home is good, but we'll see how it goes ๐Ÿ’ช. The 10-match block ahead is gonna be intense ๐Ÿ”ฅ - can they keep the momentum up? ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿ‰ so benetton is a big budget team ๐Ÿค‘ but murphy thinks they can take them down at home? ๐Ÿค” i think he's being optimistic ๐Ÿ˜… but we gotta give it to him, ulster have been on fire lately ๐Ÿ”ฅ with 3 wins in the last 3 games. stuart mccloskey's injury is a bummer though โšฝ๏ธ hopefully he'll be back soon and can get us some points against benetton ๐Ÿคž

stats show that benetton has been solid defensively ๐Ÿ“Š but not so much on offense ๐Ÿ”ด๐Ÿ”ต ulster should be able to capitalize on their attacking skills ๐Ÿ’ช with our top players like jared owen and alzie hetjens. ๐Ÿš€

anyway, murphy's right we can't focus on the big teams ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ we gotta take care of ourselves first ๐Ÿค and build a strong squad for the rest of the season ๐Ÿ”’ 10-match block is gonna be tough but i think we've got what it takes ๐Ÿ’ช

So Benetton's all about that $$ life, huh? Big budget, strong squad... sounds like they're trying to buy their way to success ๐Ÿค‘. Meanwhile, Ulster's gotta rely on hard work and dedication to get back on track ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I'm not saying Benetton can't put up a good fight, but it seems like they're prioritizing their pockets over player development ๐Ÿ’ธ. Richie Murphy's got some nerves, too - if he's really confident in Ulster's abilities, why is he talking about the bigger picture of Europe? ๐Ÿค”

OMG I'm so worried about Stuart McCloskey ๐Ÿค•! He's been a superstar player for Ulster and now he might miss out on this weekend's game ๐Ÿ˜”. But like, good news is that the coach says he'll be back soon ๐Ÿ’ช. I just hope they can still get that win against Benetton... those guys are super tough to beat ๐Ÿคฏ. And omg Angus Bell just showed up in Belfast?! ๐Ÿš€ I love how excited everyone is about him joining the team! But, like, we need Stuart back ASAP ๐Ÿ˜‚. Can't wait for the Challenge Cup and URC games though! The squad has been working so hard ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ. Let's go Ulster! โšซ๏ธ

OMG, I cant believe we're goin back to action this weekend already ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! Stuart McCloskey is definately out tho, which sucks ๐Ÿค•. Richies say he'll be back soon tho, which is good news ๐Ÿ’ช! But we gotta win this game against Benetton, they dont seem like an easy team ๐Ÿ‘Š. I mean, they're very dense and all that ๐Ÿ˜‚, but still... We just need to focus on ourselves, Richie says, so lets do it lads ๐Ÿ†! And omg, 10 matches in a row? That's gonna be intense ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Wish us luck, guys! ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ so frustrating that McCloskey has to sit out this game against Benetton... one more game can't come soon enough ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. and yeah, Murphy's right about Benetton being a tough opponent - they do have a big budget and squad... but Ulster just need to keep themselves out of trouble at home ๐Ÿ’ช. it's also interesting that he's saying we should focus on our own development now... like isn't the whole point of having a strong squad to get into that top tier ๐Ÿค”?

I'm so stoked for Ulster! ๐Ÿคฉ I mean, they've got a tough game against Benetton this weekend, but Richie Murphy's got everythin' under control ๐Ÿ˜Š. Stuart McCloskey might be out, but he's lookin' good to get back on the pitch in no time ๐Ÿ’ช. And let's be real, Angus Bell is gonna be a superstar in Belfast ๐ŸŒŸ! The French teams are gonna bring their A-game, but Ulster's got this ๐Ÿ”ฅ. It's all about focus and hard work, you know? They've had some sick wins lately, so I'm rootin' for 'em to keep the momentum goin' ๐Ÿ’จ. Can't wait for Friday night at the Affidea Stadium! ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ

I'm so curious about rugby ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‘€ I mean, I know it's a tough sport and all that but it sounds like Ulster is having some issues with injuries ๐Ÿ˜ฌ especially with Stuart McCloskey, who's expected to miss their next game due to a groin strain again. But on the bright side, the coach seems pretty optimistic about his recovery ๐Ÿคž and thinks he'll be back in action within weeks.

I love how the coach is focusing on the team's development though ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ rather than just worrying about winning games all the time. I mean, if you can't take care of yourself, you won't be able to perform at your best, right? ๐Ÿ˜… And with a 10-match block coming up, it's going to be interesting to see how Ulster does against some tough teams like Benetton and the French sides ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’‰ Stuart McCloskey's injury is like a meme loop: re-injure him again and he'll be back out in 2 weeks ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

Benetton is like that one aunt at the family reunion: always well-funded, but can't quite get it together ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ธ

Richie Murphy's coaching strategy is to just "look after" Ulster and not actually change anything ๐Ÿ”€๐Ÿ‘€

French teams are like a never-ending stream of memes ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Racing 92 and Stade Francais are like two peas in a pod: both top-class and equally confusing ๐Ÿค”๐ŸŒฎ

Ulster's 10-match bloc is like a meme calendar: URC games, Challenge Cup, and a bunch of other stuff ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ“†

omg just read about Stuart McCloskey's injury ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฌ so frustrating for him and Ulster, but Richie Murphy is always positive ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ anyway, I think Benetton might be a tough opponent this weekend ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘Š Murph said they're "very dense" and well-funded... seems like a solid team ๐Ÿ’ผ๐Ÿˆ hope Ulster can get back on winning ways at home though ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’ซ

So like, Stuart McCloskey's injury is a real bummer for Ulster ๐Ÿค•. He's supposed to be back soon, but not this weekend, so we'll just have to wait and see how that plays out ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. On the bright side, Benetton are a tough team to beat, but I think Ulster can get the win if they stick to their game plan ๐Ÿ’ช. Richie Murphy's right, though - it's all about focusing on themselves and getting better. They've had some good wins recently, so let's keep that momentum going ๐Ÿ†!
