US justice department releases more than 3 million new pages of Epstein files

The US Department of Justice has released a staggering 3 million pages of documents related to its investigation into financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The massive release, which includes over 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, marks the largest trove of files to be made public so far in the case.

During a tense press conference, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced that the release would include "extensive redactions" - a clear indication that some information will remain classified. Blanche revealed that the Trump administration had produced 3.5 million pages in an effort to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandated the release of certain documents.

The files, which date back over 20 years and cover multiple investigations and prosecutions, include records from the Florida and New York cases against Epstein, as well as the Ghislaine Maxwell prosecution. The Department of Justice has also filed court motions to release additional materials currently covered by protective orders from a civil lawsuit and grand jury materials from a case against corrections officers who worked at Epstein's prison facility.

Despite the massive release, around 200,000 pages were redacted or withheld due to various legal privileges, including attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine. Blanche acknowledged that some of these redactions may have been related to personal and medical information, as well as graphic depictions of death, abuse, and injury.

The Deputy Attorney General refused to comment on whether any new names would be included in the document release. However, he did say that President Trump's involvement with Epstein had not changed since the initial investigations began.

The massive document dump follows weeks of delay after the Department of Justice conceded that only 12,285 documents totaling 125,575 pages had been published to date, far short of a 19 December deadline mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The release is expected to shed more light on systemic failures within law enforcement that allowed Epstein's abuse to go unchecked.

Earlier releases under the act have detailed harrowing testimony about the recruitment methods used to ensnare victims, including graphic accounts from grand jury witnesses. One of these witnesses described how Ghislaine Maxwell allegedly asked one victim to recruit other girls, telling her they had to look young at least - a chilling reminder of the scope and brutality of Epstein's abuse.

I'm still trying to process this huge release 🤯📄! It's crazy that we're getting 3 million pages of documents, but like 200k were redacted lol what even is the point of having all this info if its gonna be bared back down 😂. The fact that they had to wait till now and go through so much drama before making these docs public makes me even more sad 🤕. We need transparency in our justice system, period! And omg those graphic videos & pics are like a whole nother level of disturbing I dont think i can even handle it 😷.

My heart goes out to all the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse 🤕💔. This massive document release is a step towards transparency and accountability, but I can imagine how frustrating it must be for those who have been waiting for answers for so long 😩. The fact that 200,000 pages were redacted or withheld due to legal privileges makes me feel like there's still so much being kept hidden 🤐. But at least we're getting closer to the truth, and I hope this release will help shed some light on the systemic failures that allowed Epstein's abuse to go unchecked 💡. It's not over yet, but every step forward is a step in the right direction 💪

lol what's up with the massive release of Epstein docs? 🤯 3 million pages is wild 📚 stats show that this dump makes up ~70% of all released documents, which is still super low 🙄 think about it, only 12k docs were released initially, now we've got a whole new layer of info 📊. and btw did u see the 19 dec deadline they had to hit? epic fail 😂 180k images & 2000 vids tho 💀 some info's still redacted tho, guess some people don't wanna be held accountable 🤷‍♂️ 200k pages were hidden because of attorney-client privilege & stuff like that... it's all good tho, transparency is key 👍 and btw did u know the trump admin had already released 3.5 mil pages? what a coincidence! 🤔

I'm like super intrigued by this doc release 🤯. I mean, 3 million pages is crazy, right? But at the same time, there's still so much info that's gonna be redacted... it's like, don't get me wrong, we need to protect people's privacy and all, but come on, 200k pages? It feels like they're being super secretive about stuff 🤔. I'm also kinda worried that some of this stuff might be really hard to understand, especially with all the redactions... what if it's like, a bunch of vague phrases that don't make any sense? 😬

But on a bigger note, I think it's so important that we're finally getting some answers about Epstein and how this whole thing went down 🤦‍♂️. I mean, 20 years is way too long to not have more info come out... it's like, what were they hiding? And the fact that Trump's involvement hasn't changed since the initial investigations started is kinda concerning, you know? Like, did he really not do anything wrong or is he just not telling us something 🤷‍♂️.

And can we talk about how messed up this whole thing is on a systemic level? I mean, if law enforcement couldn't catch Epstein's abuse even with all these investigations and whatnot... it's like, what are they doing to actually prevent this kind of stuff from happening in the future? 🤦‍♂️ We need some real change, you know?

🤔 3 million pages is crazy! I'm wondering why so many were redacted though 🤷‍♂️ can't help but feel like some info is still being hidden from us. I mean, it's one thing to protect personal or medical info, but come on - those other excuses sound sketchy... don't wanna know if someone got hurt badly by Epstein 😬. What's up with the timeline tho? How long did all this take to sort out? Still feels like we're not getting the full picture 📚. Guess we'll just have to keep digging for answers 🔍
