I'm loving how this movie tries to tackle the emotional side of grief and loss
. Daisy Ridley is absolutely phenomenal as Ava, she brings so much depth and vulnerability to her character that you can't help but feel for her. The film's unique approach to the zombie genre is definitely a breath of fresh air, it's not just about mindless gore and carnage.
I do think Hilditch could've nailed down the tone a bit better, there are some scenes that feel like they belong in a completely different movie
. But overall, I think he does an amazing job with the visuals, capturing the beauty of Tasmania and making it feel like a character in itself.
The plot twist at the end is pretty mind-blowing
, I didn't see it coming at all! It's not a game-changer for the zombie genre or anything, but as a solid try, I think it's definitely worth checking out
