What To Watch This Weekend: New Shows And Movies To Stream On Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV And More

Streaming season is in full swing, with a plethora of new content hitting various platforms this weekend. If you're anything like me, the excitement of new releases can be almost too much to handle.

First off, let's talk about the elephant in the room: Netflix's acquisition of Warner Bros. and its impending buyout of HBO Max. This is a move that will have far-reaching implications for both content creators and consumers alike. With this deal, we can expect to see some high-profile titles make their way from one platform to another, potentially altering the landscape of popular entertainment.

Now, let's dive into the fun stuff – new shows and movies to stream this weekend!

For fans of Westerns, Netflix has a new series called "The Abandons," starring Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson. Created by Kurt Sutter, the show boasts an impressive cast but has received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its leads while others have been less than impressed.

On the other hand, we have the highly anticipated Starz spinoff "Spartacus: House of Ashur" – Season 1. This series is set in an alternate timeline and follows a character who didn't meet the same end as his counterpart in the original show.

If you're looking for something more light-hearted, Netflix has two new releases. The first is "Jay Kelly," starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler, about a famous movie star on a European journey of self-reflection. This film boasts an impressive cast but may be too character-driven for some viewers' tastes.

The second release is Disney+'s "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw." While the author of the book series isn't familiar with the films, this movie adaptation should still provide plenty of laughs and excitement for fans of all ages.

For those who grew up on classic cinema, Netflix has two highly anticipated releases. First is "Pulp Fiction," Tarantino's iconic masterpiece that has stood the test of time. Be prepared to be immersed in a world of crime drama and witty dialogue, featuring some of the most memorable characters in movie history.

Lastly, we have Wes Anderson's latest film, "The Phoenician Scheme." This film boasts an impressive cast, including Benicio del Toro and Scarlett Johansson, but received mixed reviews from critics upon its release.

If you're looking for something more recent, Disney+ has two new releases. First is "Zootopia 2," the sequel to the beloved animated classic. While it may be difficult to recapture the magic of the original, this film should still provide plenty of laughs and excitement for fans of all ages.

The final release on this list is "Hamnet," a historical drama starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mesca. This film explores the personal tragedy that inspired Shakespeare's greatest play and boasts an impressive cast.

Lastly, if you're in the mood for something more recent, Paramount+ has two new releases. First is "Landman" – Season 2, which stars Billy Bob Thornton as a Texas oil tycoon. While opinions on this show are mixed, fans of Taylor Sheridan's work should definitely check it out.

On TV, Prime Video has two highly anticipated releases. First is the animated fantasy series "The Mighty Nein," based on the popular Critical Role series. This show boasts an impressive cast and has received positive reviews from critics who praise its delightful storylines and engaging characters.

Next up is the mysterious sci-fi series "Pluribus" – Season 1, which follows a group of scientists as they uncover a sinister alien virus that threatens humanity's very existence. With this show being created by Vince Gilligan, fans of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul should definitely be intrigued.

For those who enjoy classic horror, HBO Max has the latest installment in its "IT" series – Season 1. While it may have received mixed reviews from critics due to shoddy CGI and mediocre acting, this show still offers plenty of thrills and chills for fans of Stephen King's work.

Last but not least, BritBox has a new release in "Blue Lights" – Season 3, which follows the lives of police officers in Belfast. This show boasts impressive characters, tense scenes, and a unique perspective on urban life that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

omg u guys i'm literally so hyped for "Spartacus: House of Ashur" it's like the ultimate fantasy show with a complex plot twist 😍 but at the same time i'm super curious about that new Jay Kelly film starrin george clooney and adam sandler 🤣 can't wait to see how they vibe on screen together! 👀 also has anyone seen "Pulp Fiction" yet? it's been like, forever since its release 🙃

🤔 Streaming season is like a never-ending rollercoaster ride of emotions for me! 🎠 I love how Netflix and other platforms are shaking things up with new content. It's crazy to think that Warner Bros. is being bought out by Netflix... what does the future hold for our favorite shows? 🤷‍♀️ On the other hand, I'm super stoked about "The Abandons" series - Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson are giving me all the vibes! 💁‍♀️ And can't wait to dive into "Spartacus: House of Ashur"... who wouldn't want to watch a show set in an alternate timeline? 🤔

omg u guys its finally streaming season 🤩 i'm literally so excited for new shows and movies to come out this weekend!!! 🎥 the warner bros acquisition of netflix is wild i think it's gonna change the game big time 🤯 have any of you seen "the abandons" yet? heard mixed reviews but lea headey & gillian anderson r a power couple 💁‍♀️

🤩 Streaming season is literally taking over my life rn 📺! I'm so hyped for the new shows and movies dropping this weekend, esp "Spartacus: House of Ashur" - gotta know what happens to that dude 😂... but at the same time, I'm also kinda meh about Netflix's Warner Bros. acquisition... don't get me wrong, it's exciting to see all the big titles moving around, but it feels like a total shake-up in the streaming game 🔄.

Man, Netflix's acquisition of Warner Bros is gonna be a game changer 🤯. I'm both hyped and nervous at the same time. On one hand, it's exciting to see all those iconic titles make their way to one platform, but on the other hand, I worry that it might lead to some big-name shows being watered down for the masses 🤔.

On a lighter note, I'm really stoked about "Jay Kelly" - George Clooney and Adam Sandler teaming up is like a dream come true! 😂 And, of course, who can resist the charm of Wes Anderson's "The Phoenician Scheme"? 🎥 But, at the same time, I'm not holding my breath for this one since it got mixed reviews from critics... 🤷‍♂️

What do you guys think about all these new releases? Any must-watch shows or movies that I should add to my watchlist? 📺

omg I'm so hyped for "The Phoenician Scheme" but also kinda underwhelmed at the same time lol it's like wes andrewson is trying too hard with all the quirky characters 🤣 but at the same time he always manages to pull off that unique style and charm. anyone else excited for this one tho?

omg i'm literally so hyped for "The Abandons" 🤯 lena headey is like my ultimate girl crush btw she's going to slay in this show cant wait to see what critics think about it 😂 also been eyeing "Pulp Fiction" for ages tarantino never disappoints 🎥 and omg disney's "Zootopia 2" i'm totally taking the squad to watch it with my friends 👫 have you watched any of these new releases yet?

omg i'm so stoked for all these new releases!!! 🤩 especially the tarantino one, i've been waiting for ages to see pulp fiction on netflix again 🎥 meanwhile, i've been bingeing diary of a wimpy kid on disney+ and it's literally the most fun i've had watching anything in ages 😂 gotta check out landman too, taylor sheridan is my guy 💪

I'm not sure how much of a game-changer Netflix's acquisition of Warner Bros. is going to be 🤔. On one hand, it's great for consumers like us who get to access even more content, but on the other hand, it's just another consolidation of power in an already saturated market 📺. I mean, isn't that just a fancy way of saying "more content, less control over what we actually watch"? 😐

omg i'm literally so excited for "Jay Kelly" with george clooney and adam sandler lol its been ages since they've done a comedy together!! 💁‍♀️💫 i mean, you can't go wrong with these two! 👍 but idk about the other new releases on netflix yet 🤔 gotta watch them before i form an opinion 😊

omg i'm so hyped for the new season of "The Abandons" but also super curious about that alternate timeline "Spartacus" spinoff 🤯📺 I've been meaning to watch more Wes Anderson movies, so thanks for recommending "Pulp Fiction" - it's like, a classic right? 😎

🎬💡 So they're all getting rid of their own stuff and putting it on Netflix now? That's gonna be wild! 🤯 I mean, what even is the point of having a platform if you can just move everything around like that?

And what about the new shows?! 📺 "The Abandons" looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure if I wanna watch something with mixed reviews 😐. On the other hand, "Spartacus: House of Ashur" sounds like it could be epic! 🔥

But seriously, is anyone gonna lose their jobs because of this? 🤔 It seems kinda unfair to just get rid of someone's whole career because they can't compete with Netflix.

Oh, and what about the movies?! 🍿 "Pulp Fiction" is a classic, but I'm not sure if I wanna see it again 🙅‍♂️. And Wes Anderson's new film? Has anyone seen it yet? 🤔

Netflix's Warner Bros acquisition is gonna be HUGE, tbh 🤯📺 it's like they're trying to own the whole entertainment game. I'm low-key hyped for "The Abandons" but also kinda skeptical 'cause of those mixed reviews 😐. On the other hand, who doesn't want more Tarantino content? 🎥💪 "Pulp Fiction" is a classic, and I'm stoked to see it on Netflix.

As for Disney+, "Zootopia 2" seems like a fun watch 🦊👍, but can they recapture the magic of the original? And have you seen Wes Anderson's latest? 😂 I mean, that cast is A-list, but those reviews were kinda meh... hmm. Paramount+ has some interesting stuff too - "Landman" Season 2 looks like my cup of tea 🤠👊.

What about you guys? Got any must-watch shows or movies coming out this weekend? 📺🎬

im so down for a new season of "The Mighty Nein" 🤩 but i gotta say, with all these big platform acquisitions happening, it's gonna get crazy who owns what content in the future 🤑. like, how will this affect independent creators? 🤔 i hope some good stuff comes out of these deals though... maybe we'll see more diverse storytelling on the big screen 💥

I'm telling ya, something fishy is going on with all these new shows and movies coming out at once... 🤔 It's like the powers that be are trying to distract us from something bigger. I mean, have you seen the cast list for "The Abandons"? It's like they're trying to create a new Hollywood elite or something! And what's up with all these Westerns and crime dramas? Is it just a coincidence that they're all coming out at the same time? 🎥 I'm not buying it. Mark my words, there's more to this than meets the eye... 👀
