Who is David Easterwood? Protestors say pastor is ICE official

Pastor at ICE Office Embroiled in Protest: Is He Too Deeply Embedded?

A US pastor who leads a church in St Paul is under fire after dozens of protesters disrupted a service, claiming he also holds a high-ranking position at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office overseeing operations in Minnesota. The protests came amid heightened tensions over immigration enforcement in the state.

David Easterwood, one of the eight pastors at Cities Church, was accused by protesters of being the acting director of the ICE St Paul field office, overseeing operations in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska. While Easterwood did not lead the part of the service that was livestreamed by protest organizers, it is unclear if he attended the church on Sunday.

The protests were sparked by the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old US citizen, by an immigration agent in Minneapolis earlier this month. Another incident involving an ICE agent left Venezuelan migrant Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis injured during an attempted arrest.

The Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention said that protesters had "interrupted the service to demand the congregation denounce the federal government's immigration enforcement, specifically targeting the role of Pastor David Easterwood as a field office director for ICE." The church has condemned the protest and expressed concern about the safety of its members.

omg what's going on with these protests 🤯 i feel so bad for pastor easterwood he got caught in the middle of all this drama... and 50+ protesters disrupting a service? that's crazy 😲 can't we just talk things through? it sounds like they're really upset about these immigration incidents, but protesting a church service is not the way to do it... i hope the pastor and his congregation are okay 🙏

omg is this guy for real tho? i mean idk if he did or didnt attend that church service but it's wild to think he'd be tied to icem in such a way 🤯😱 what's next gonna be him performing baptisms in detention centers? anyway, can't say i'm surprised protests are getting heated over immigration issues... seems like everyone's got an opinion on it these days 💬

I'm wondering if this is all just a big misunderstanding 🤔. So, there's a pastor at an ICE office who's leading a service, and people are protesting because they think he's in charge of the whole thing? That seems like a pretty big jump to me 😂. I mean, I get why people are upset about the immigration issues, but it's not fair to target one person for the actions of the government.

I'm also kinda curious if we're talking about "acts of service" or actual authority here 👥. The church is saying they condemn the protest and their pastor's involvement in ICE? That suggests he might not be as embedded as everyone thinks 🤷‍♂️. But I guess only time (and some fact-checking 😊) will tell for sure!

I'm so confused by this situation 😒. A pastor leading a service gets caught up in the heat of protesters demanding action on immigration, but is it fair to just assume he's involved with ICE too? 🤔 I mean, I get that there are people out there who have strong feelings about this stuff, but shouldn't we be trying to understand each other better rather than jumping to conclusions? It seems like a pretty slippery slope... one pastor gets accused and suddenly everyone's on the defensive. 🙅‍♂️ The problem is complex and multifaceted – why can't we just try to have some calm, rational conversations about it instead of resorting to protests and accusations? 🤷‍♂️

Its like they say... when you stick your head in the sand, it's hard to see what's staring right back at ya 🙄. I mean, this Pastor David Easterwood guy is being accused of being involved with ICE on top of leading a church service? It just seems fishy. And now his own church is condemning the protest against him? That's like putting on a show to say we care about our people... but not really 🤷‍♂️. I think this whole thing raises questions about how deep someone can be embedded in something and still maintain their "respectable" image. Like, what's the line between serving your community and serving an organization that's not always on the same page? We need to take a closer look at these power dynamics and make sure we're not just shifting blame around 😐.

🤔 This whole situation seems quite nuanced to me. While it's understandable that people are upset with the recent incidents involving ICE agents, I think we need to separate the individual from his actions. I mean, being a pastor doesn't necessarily equate to being an administrator for ICE 🙏. It's possible that David Easterwood's role in the church is just a coincidence, and he may not even be aware of the specific operations under his supposed supervision.

The fact that the church has condemned the protest but still seems concerned about its members' safety raises some questions. Is it fair to single out one pastor for criticism when the issue at hand involves systemic problems with immigration enforcement? I think we need to consider the broader context and not just focus on individual scapegoats 🤷‍♂️.

OMG, like what is going on with this guy? 🤯 First, you're a pastor at some church in St Paul, sounds legit, but then you're also supposedly leading the operation at an ICE office? That's not even close to being subtle, fam! 😂 It's like he thinks he can just wear two hats and expect everyone to be cool with it? Newsflash: no one is. The fact that people were able to figure out his "hidden" role is wild. And now the church is all upset because protesters showed up and got a little too loud... 🤷‍♀️ What's next, are you gonna start collecting a paycheck from both sides of the fence? 🤑 It's just not adding up, dude!

omg this is so messed up 🤯 david easterwood was probably just going to lead his normal sunday service and then BAM protesters show up w/ signs & chants and disrupt everything 😩 what's even more wild is that he wasn't even involved in the part of the service they livestreamed lol like, are we really gonna scrutinize someone for being part of a bigger org without knowing all the deets? 🤔 the thing is though, if there is an ice field office nearby why didn't anyone fact-check before jumping on the bandwagon? 🤷‍♀️ and honestly, i don't blame pastor easterwood or his church one bit. they're just trying to worship & serve their community like everyone else 🙏
