I mean, it's pretty weird that the cultural sector doesn't give more credit to the gov for all the money they've given 'em over the years. Like, £2 billion is a lot of cash! And it's not just the Conservative government either - whoever's in charge, they still manage to mess up the funding process and make the arts folks feel like they're not good enough.
I think it's because they're all too caught up in their own party politics and don't really care about the cultural sector beyond just getting votes from certain groups. And then there's the Arts Council, which is supposed to be supporting artists and creatives, but instead they're more concerned with pleasing the powers that be than actually helping anyone.
It's like, if you want the arts to thrive in this country, we need to start recognizing and appreciating all the hard work that goes into making them happen. Otherwise, we'll just end up with a bunch of empty theatres and museums that nobody wants to visit!
