12-year-old snowboarder falls off ski lift at Mammoth Mountain, video shows

A 12-year-old snowboarder took a terrifying tumble off a ski lift at Mammoth Mountain in California, and the harrowing moment was caught on camera. According to a woman who claims to be the snowboarder's mother, her daughter lost her footing before the safety bar could be lowered, leaving no time for the lift operators to react.

The incident occurred when the young rider was supposed to be safely secured in place. However, in an instant, she was flung from the lift, landing awkwardly on the snow with a sickening thud. The frightening scene was captured on video, showing the snowboarder's desperate attempt to break her fall, but ultimately failing to avoid impact.

Miraculously, the young girl managed to walk away from the incident without sustaining any serious injuries. Her mother expressed relief at the news, although understandably shaken by the experience.

The ski lift in question has been temporarily shut down for inspection and maintenance, highlighting the importance of ensuring rider safety on these towering structures. The authorities are now investigating the cause of the incident to determine how such an accident could have occurred.

Dude, what a close call! 🤯 I mean, can you even imagine being on that lift and having your feet fly out from under you like that? It's like, one second you're cruisin', next second you're flyin' through the air... and it just freaks me out thinking about it 😱. And yeah, I'm sure the ski lift will get fixed, but this whole thing makes me wonder if they've got some secret safety protocol that wasn't followed or something? 🤔 Like, what's gonna happen to kids who can't even hold onto their boards for a sec? It's all about covering their tracks and not making headlines, you know? 😏

🤕 omg can u even imagine being 12 & literally just lost your balance on a ski lift 😱 like what even is wrong with those things?!? they need to do so much more than just slap some safety bars on 'em 🚧 anyway glad the kiddo's okay tho but seriously though, this is super scary and it's not like that first time she'll be the only one who knows how to fall from 10ft in the air lol 😂 think about all those other kids out there doing the same thing every day 💥 maybe they should do more training for those lift operators too 🤔

I don't think it's fair to jump all over this kid just 'cause she had a little mishap. I mean, accidents happen to anyone, right? She's only 12 and still learning - gives her points for being brave after falling off that lift! 🤦‍♀️💪

And let's be real, if the safety bar didn't lower in time, it's not like she could've prevented the fall. That's on the equipment and the staff, imo. They need to review the footage, figure out what went wrong, and make sure it doesn't happen again. But harshing her mom's day? No way. That kid's lucky to be okay after that! 🙏

😂🤦‍♀️ what's up with ski lifts having those 'safety bars' that are supposed to catch you if you lose your footing? 🤔 it sounds like they need a major upgrade, or maybe just some better training for the lift operators... I mean, come on! 🙄 it's not rocket science, right? 😅 and can we talk about how lucky that kid was? I guess getting flung off a lift isn't exactly the most common way to get injured... 🤷‍♀️ but still, super scary for her mom who must've been having a heart attack over there. 🙈 anyway, at least she's okay, and we can all learn from this incident to make sure those ski lifts are safer in the future 💡👍

😱 omg can u believe that 12 yr old was flung off a ski lift 😩 she's so lucky to be alive! i mean i know accidents happen but this is crazy 🤯 my friends in kindergarten are more careful on the swings lol what if it was her friend who got hurt instead? 🤔 anyway glad no major injuries happened tho 👍
