2 federal officers fired shots during encounter that killed Alex Pretti, DHS tells Congress

US Customs and Border Protection officials confirm that two officers fired shots during an encounter with Alex Pretti, a US nurse who was killed in Minneapolis over the weekend. According to the agency's official notice sent to Congress, Pretti resisted being taken into custody by federal immigration agents, leading to a struggle.

The incident occurred at a consulate building where Ecuadorian staff tried to prevent ICE officers from entering without permission. In a video posted online, one of the ICE officers was seen threatening an employee if he touched him, before agreeing to leave.

Pretti's death has sparked outrage and calls for reform within the agency. The White House has sent Border Czar Tom Homan to oversee operations in Minnesota, with President Donald Trump saying this move would "de-escalate" tensions.

However, some administration officials have sought to downplay Pretti's role in the incident, suggesting that CBP officers may not have been following protocol. Ecuador's foreign ministry, meanwhile, has filed an objection against ICE agents trying to enter its consulate building without permission.

In a separate incident, a man was arrested after spraying an unknown liquid at US Rep. Ilhan Omar during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis. The Democrat had called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier that day.

The developments come as tensions over immigration enforcement operations continue to rise in Minnesota. Activists are monitoring enforcement activities through social media, while Democratic leaders have sought to criticize President Trump's administration on this issue.

Meanwhile, a federal judge has issued a temporary order to prevent the removal of a 5-year-old Ecuadorian boy and his father, who were detained last week in an incident that further inflamed divisions over immigration.

Can't believe what's going down with Alex Pretti ๐Ÿ˜’. I mean, sure, ICE officers are supposed to follow protocol, but it sounds like they let their emotions get the best of them. Threatening someone if you touch him? That's not de-escalation, that's escalation ๐Ÿคฏ. And now Pretti is dead and two officers are facing charges ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. The whole thing just feels so messy. I'm also really annoyed with President Trump's response - it's just a bunch of empty words to make the situation seem like it's being handled when it's not ๐Ÿ™„. What's the real plan here? Are we just gonna keep sending in ICE agents and hoping for the best? It doesn't feel like it's going to get any better unless we have some serious changes made ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

OMG, can't believe what's going down ๐Ÿคฏ... like I know we have issues with ICE and all, but two officers shooting someone? That's just wrong ๐Ÿ˜”. And to think Alex Pretti was just trying to do his job as a nurse ๐Ÿฅ. It's so sad that he had to lose his life over this. The White House sending Tom Homan to oversee ops in Minnesota is like, super convenient for them, don't you think? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I mean, who needs reform when you've got a powerful dude like him on the case? And what's up with the admin officials downplaying Pretti's role in all this? Like, come on guys, get real! ๐Ÿ™„ The Ecuadorian gov is also giving ICE a hard time, and I don't blame them one bit. It's not cool when people try to just barge into your consulate building without permission ๐Ÿšซ. And that other incident with Rep Omar getting sprayed at... wow, what's going on in Minnesota? ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

๐Ÿค” I mean, what's really surprising here? Another US citizen killed by CBP officers in Minneapolis... it's like they're just waiting for someone to get themselves killed so they can say "see, we told you it was necessary" ๐Ÿšซ. And now Tom Homan is coming in to "de-escalate tensions"... please, he's gonna make it worse with his whole "tough on immigration" vibe ๐Ÿ’ช. I don't trust him as far as I can throw the ICE agents who just happened to be at the scene of Alex Pretti's death ๐Ÿ˜’. And what about all these protests and activist groups watching CBP operations like they're some kinda reality TV show? It's just a PR stunt to distract us from the fact that CBP is still a bunch of bullies in uniforms ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. The real question is, when are we gonna start asking for real reform instead of just whining about it on social media? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

OMG u guys I'm literally shook about what's been going down with Alex Pretti ๐Ÿคฏ he was just a nurse trying to do his job and they ended up killing him ๐Ÿ˜ญ like what even is the protocol for this stuff? ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ˜ก And can we talk about how some ppl are already trying to spin this story to say it wasn't entirely CBP's fault ๐Ÿ™„ I mean, I get that tensions need to be calmed down but like come on, someone lost their life over a stupid argument ๐Ÿ‘Š and now they're sending in Tom Homan to fix the problem? ๐Ÿคฅ meanwhile Ilhan Omar is getting sprayed with some weird liquid at a town hall meeting... this country is literally losing it ๐Ÿคฏ

๐Ÿค” I'm really worried about these ICE agents' behavior ๐Ÿšจ. Two officers firing shots at Alex Pretti just because he resisted arrest? That's crazy! ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ They're supposed to be protecting people, not shooting them ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. And now the White House is trying to downplay it by saying they were following protocol ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. But we all know that's not true ๐Ÿ‘€. This kind of thing needs to stop ASAP ๐Ÿ’จ. We need better training for our border agents and more transparency about their actions ๐Ÿ”. It's not just Alex Pretti's family who is affected, it's the entire community ๐ŸŒŽ.

Wow ๐Ÿคฏ! Can't believe it's happening like this again ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. ICE officers threatening people just to do their job? That's not right ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. The system is supposed to protect us, not intimidate us ๐Ÿ’”. I feel so bad for the family of Alex Pretti ๐Ÿค•... and that little Ecuadorian boy can't even live his life in peace ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

Interesting how they're trying to downplay it now ๐Ÿ™ƒ. It's like they expect us to forget what happened ๐Ÿ˜ด. Not on my watch, not on this community's watch ๐Ÿ’ช. We need real change, not just empty promises from the White House ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

By the way, have you seen that video of Rep. Ilhan Omar being sprayed with that liquid? ๐Ÿ˜ท That's some crazy stuff right there ๐Ÿ‘€! We need to be more careful about who we're trusting with power ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

๐Ÿšจ This whole thing is just a perfect storm of incompetence and controversy! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ I mean, come on, two CBP officers firing shots at a nurse for resisting arrest? What exactly was the protocol there again? ๐Ÿ™„ It's like they were trying to make a scene. And now the White House is sending in Tom Homan, who's basically the poster child for Trump's "tough on immigration" rhetoric... but what does that even solve? ๐Ÿ˜’

And let's not forget about Rep. Ilhan Omar getting sprayed with some mysterious liquid during her town hall meeting. I mean, was it a prank gone wrong or something more sinister? ๐Ÿค” The fact that activists are monitoring CBP operations on social media is just proof that the public is fed up with these kinds of incidents.

But here's the thing: what's really going on here is a larger debate about immigration reform and accountability. We need to start holding our elected officials accountable for their actions, especially when it comes to enforcing policies that affect the most vulnerable members of our society. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค• This is getting outta hand... ICE agents threatening people just because they're trying to do their job? That's not de-escalation, it's escalation! ๐Ÿšซ And what about the protocol thing? If CBP officers weren't following procedure, then who is? The White House needs to get their act together on this one. ๐Ÿ’ช I'm so tired of all these incidents and no one seems to be taking responsibility. ๐Ÿ™„

And can we talk about Rep. Omar for a sec? She's been getting so much hate online just because she spoke out against ICE... like, hello, someone needs to speak up for these people! ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ We need more leaders like her, not less. ๐Ÿ’ช The Democrats are doing the right thing by criticizing President Trump's policies, we should be supporting them. ๐Ÿ™Œ

And what about that Ecuadorian boy and his dad? Detained without reason? That's just heartbreaking. ๐Ÿ˜” We need to do better, folks. This is what happens when we let politics get in the way of compassion. โค๏ธ

"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." - C.S. Lewis ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Those ICE officers need to reflect on their actions & respect people's boundaries, 'cause they're not above the law ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’ฅ
