2 hospitalized after tent collapses under weight of snow at Medford nursing home

Two Medford Nursing Home Residents Hospitalized After Tent Collapse Due to Heavy Snow

A potentially disastrous accident at a local nursing home took an unexpected turn when a pop-up tent in the back patio collapsed under the weight of heavy snow, sending two residents to the hospital on Sunday.

The Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center had installed the temporary structure on its patio, but it ultimately proved too weak to withstand the accumulating snow. When authorities responded to the scene, they found that the tent had collapsed, trapping the two residents inside.

In a dramatic rescue operation, police officers had to cut through the damaged tent to free the trapped individuals. Fortunately, both patients were treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure.

The incident highlights the importance of emergency preparedness in winter weather conditions, particularly in vulnerable settings such as nursing homes. It also serves as a reminder of the need for adequate infrastructure and support systems in place to mitigate such risks.

The Medford Police Department is urging residents to exercise extreme caution when venturing outdoors during severe winter storms and to report any concerns or hazards to authorities immediately.

awww that's so worrying 🤕😬 i mean, nursing homes are already dealing with so much on their plate, and this just puts extra stress on them 🤯 they should totally invest in some better tents or infrastructure, like, ASAP ⏰🚧 it's not worth risking the health & safety of those lovely elderly folks 💕👵🌺 at least they're safe now 🙏 fingers crossed they make some changes to prevent this from happening again 🤞

That's so crazy 🤯! I mean, can you even imagine being stuck under that tent with heavy snow piling up on top of you? It's a miracle those two residents made it out alive 🙏. The thing is, I'm not surprised it happened to be honest... nursing homes aren't exactly equipped to deal with extreme weather conditions and they shouldn't be putting their residents in situations like that. And it's all so preventable too - just some basic safety measures would've gone a long way 😊. Anyway, glad everyone's okay, but seriously, let's make sure this doesn't happen again 💡.

omg what if the tent wasn't even sturdy enough to hold a small puppy 🐶😨 i mean i know its not meant for that but still it's crazy how something so flimsy can take down people. did they check if it was like, inspected and all before putting it up? idk maybe i'm just being paranoid lol. anyway, snow is super unpredictable and you never really know what's gonna happen with it 🌨️. should nursing homes have emergency pop-up tents that can withstand snow or something? that would be kinda awesome 💡

I don’t usually comment but it's so crazy that a pop-up tent at a nursing home couldn't withstand some snow. I mean, you'd think they'd have better security measures in place, especially when it comes to residents' safety 🤯. It's just really fortunate that the rescue team was there quickly and they weren't hurt too badly. But yeah, this is definitely a wake-up call for nursing homes to get their act together, especially during harsh winters ❄️. I feel bad for the two residents who were trapped under that tent... it could've been way worse 💔.

OMG 🤯 just read about this tent collapse thingy at the nursing home... I'm so glad no one got seriously hurt, I mean, two hospitalizations is a big deal 😬 but still not life-threatening? That's, like, super good news, right? 🙏 What if it had happened to me grandma or something?! 😱 anywayz, can we talk about the snow for a sec... I've been having so much trouble driving in it lately ❄️ my car has these stupid snow tires and they're just, like, so annoying 🤪

🤔 this is crazy! a pop-up tent just can't handle all that snow? i mean, what's next? using those flimsy umbrellas in the city streets? 🌂💨 nursing homes gotta step up their game and invest in some proper infrastructure instead of trying to wing it. safety should always be the top priority, especially for our elderly folks. 😕

😱 can you believe that a tent collapse would happen at a nursing home?! i mean, i know they're not exactly designed for snow loads but come on! 🤯 it's just so reckless to set up a temporary structure like that and not have a plan in place. what if the power went out or something? these two people could've been seriously hurt or worse. we need better infrastructure in our nursing homes, period 💡
