2 killed, including child, in fiery San Jose 4-vehicle crash on Hwy 87: CHP

Deadly Hwy 87 Crash in San Jose Leaves Two Deceased, Including a Child.

A devastating four-vehicle crash occurred on northbound Highway 87 in San Jose early Tuesday morning, claiming the lives of two people, including a child. The horrific incident happened just past the Curtner exit and before 11 am, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as apocalyptic, with flames engulfing three cars involved in the massive crash, which was later determined to have been caused by an accident between two Teslas facing opposite directions. The Lexus sedan where the two deceased were sitting was smashed against the median wall.

According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Ross Lee, all three drivers of the cars that went up in flames managed to escape, but sadly, two occupants – an adult and a child – perished in the inferno. Another occupant is reported to be injured and taken to a hospital for treatment, while the other driver from the fourth car involved was able to drive away.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP at this time, but it's been stated that alcohol or drugs were not believed to have contributed to the incident. The officer emphasized that investigating such incidents requires meticulous attention and thorough examination of evidence, including burnt-out vehicles.

As a result of the fatal crash, traffic was severely disrupted for miles, forcing drivers off the highway at Curtner, where all lanes reopened by 3:45 pm. Safety messages from Officer Lee echoed the importance of safe driving practices – emphasizing the need to watch speed, maintain proper following distances, and avoid distractions while behind the wheel.

In such cases, the value of life is starkly highlighted, with the devastating loss of young lives leaving an indelible mark on families and communities.

Ugh, can't believe a kid lost their life in that stupid crash 🤕😔. I mean, what's the point of even having seatbelts if they're not gonna work right? Like, Tesla owners are always talking about how safe their cars are... yeah, well, maybe not as safe as you think 😒. And don't even get me started on how this whole thing could've been prevented if just one person was paying attention while driving 💡.

But at the same time... like, these two drivers were literally facing each other and crashed into each other 🤦‍♂️. It's like they must have been doing something right or whatever. I mean, accidents happen, you know? And maybe it's not entirely the driver's fault that this whole thing went down 🔥.

Anyway, safety messages are important, I guess... yeah, I'll try to be more careful on the road 🚗😅. But like, can't we just have a universal GPS system that prevents all accidents from happening in the first place? That'd be the best way to prevent these kinds of tragedies 💻.

Ugh 🤯 just read about that tragic Hwy 87 crash in San Jose & it's still hard to believe what happened 😩 two people, including a child, lost their lives in that fiery accident... my heart goes out to the families of the victims ❤️. It's not just the loss of life, but also the trauma & destruction left behind. Investigators are taking their time to get to the bottom of it, which is good 🕵️‍♂️. Speeding & distractions behind the wheel can be deadly 😱, let's all take a moment to reflect on our driving habits & make sure we're safe out there on the roads 🚗💨

🤕😱 this accident just shows how quickly things can go from good to bad when we're not paying attention to our surroundings or to other drivers on the road 🚗💨 i'm so sorry for the families of those two people, especially that poor child 😢 it's a harsh reminder to always be extra careful and alert while driving... 2 seconds of distraction can lead to catastrophic results 🕰️😳

🚗😕 just when you think your day couldn't get any worse, a huge crash on Hwy 87 happens, leaving two people (including a kid) dead 🤯... like, what's the point of even having a speed limit? 🙄 it's not like anyone was speeding or anything, but I guess those Teslas just wanted to have a little dance party in the middle of the road 🕺💥. Anyway, glad all three drivers escaped with their lives (but not their cars, lol) and someone's gonna be looking back on this for a long time... poor family 🤗

OMG, this is so heartbreaking 🤕😱! A child's life lost in such a tragic way... it's just not fair at all 😔. The fact that all three drivers from the burning cars survived is a blessing, but two lives were still taken away too soon 💔. It's really important for us to be mindful of our actions on the road, you know? Speeding, distractions, and reckless driving can have devastating consequences 🚗💥. Let's all take a moment to think about how we can prevent such tragedies in the future 🙏. Stay safe out there, everyone! 💪

😔🚗 This news just hit me hard... a child's life lost in an instant... it's just not right 🤕. Can you believe that two people, including a little one, were caught up in such a massive crash? It's like the world just freezes for a second and then BAM! Reality sets back in 💥.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this... how could an accident between two Teslas go so wrong? 🤔 I know accidents happen, but to lose control and end up with flames engulfing your car is just... awful 😩. And the fact that there were people injured but alive is a miracle in itself 💫.

I guess what really gets me is how this crash could have been prevented if only those drivers had been more careful 🤝. Speed, following distances, distractions... it's all so avoidable 🙄. I just wish we could learn from these tragedies and drive safer roads for everyone 🚗💨.

man that's just horrific 😱, two lives lost already in 2025? it's just not right. i'm glad no one else died but still a total mess on the highway. those teslas were literally facing each other like they were racing or something what was going through their minds? and an accident between them? how do you even calculate who's to blame here? all i know is whoever was driving needs to be shaken up and make sure they're not behind the wheel again anytime soon 🚗💥 safety always comes first, especially when it comes to kids. that poor family must be going through a nightmare right now 👶🏼😔
