2 men fatally stabbed in Manhattan, including 23-year-old near Times Square, police say

Two Men Found Murdered in Manhattan Attacks

A sense of unease settled over New York City early Monday morning as authorities confirmed that two men were found fatally stabbed in separate incidents, leaving investigators to piece together the events leading up to their deaths.

In a shocking turn of events, police reported that 23-year-old Daevon Silva was discovered stabbed multiple times near Times Square around 1 a.m. Despite efforts by medics, Silva succumbed to his injuries at Bellevue Hospital and was pronounced dead. Authorities have yet to identify the suspect in this case, with no arrests made thus far.

Meanwhile, on the other side of Manhattan, an elderly man, identified as Lev Vayner, was found stabbed to death in his apartment on Overlook Terrace in Washington Heights around 3:15 a.m. The victim's body was pronounced dead at the scene. In a surprising turn of events, police arrested 45-year-old Alon Riabichev, who lives in the same building as Vayner, and charged him with murder and weapons possession.

This gruesome double homicide brings to light rising concerns about violent crime in New York City's Midtown North Precinct. According to recent police data, there has been a noticeable increase in homicides and felony assaults since the same time last year. The 34th Precinct, which includes Washington Heights and Inwood, saw a decrease in homicides but an uptick in felony assaults.

On a citywide level, however, authorities reported that homicides have fallen 21% thus far this year. Felony assaults remain relatively stable at approximately the same levels as last year. The recent attacks are now under investigation by police, who are seeking to unravel the motives behind these senseless killings and determine whether they may be connected.

๐Ÿค• So many people getting hurt like this in NYC ๐Ÿšจ. It's really disturbing to see two lives cut short like that. Can't help but wonder what led up to these attacks... were there any warning signs? ๐Ÿค” Is it just a random spike in violent crime or is there something deeper going on?

And the fact that they found the body of one guy and arrested the other without even knowing who he was initially... yeah, that's some crazy stuff. How does a police department go from not having a suspect to making an arrest like that overnight? ๐Ÿค“

It's clear that NYC is dealing with a serious issue here. What do you guys think it'll take for the city to really crack down on violent crime? More resources? Better community programs? Or something else entirely?

I mean, come on... two guys get stabbed in one night and suddenly everyone's talking about rising violent crime? Like, where was this concern all last year when these exact same numbers were going up? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's just common sense, right? And now you're gonna make a big deal out of it because two more people got killed? Newsflash: we've had over 500 homicides in NYC this year already... that's like, what, 20% higher than last year? So, I don't get why the cops are making such a big deal about just a few more. Can't they see the bigger picture here? ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿค• u guys r so worried about NY city rn but like come on let's not jump 2 conclusions just yet. these 2 murders might b random but its also possible that there's a connection between them & we dont no all the facts ๐Ÿš”. lets give police time 2 investigate n get 2 the bottom of it. btw, can ppl pls keep an eye out 4 each other esp in dark areas? ๐ŸŒƒ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿค” I'm super worried about the 21% drop in homicides overall... like, what's the point of reducing numbers if it just means there's more stuff happening elsewhere? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And what's with all these "senseless killings" everyone keeps saying? It sounds kinda sensationalist to me. Should we be focusing on the fact that there are still people dying in this city, or should we just accept it as a price of living here? ๐Ÿ’ธ

Man... NYC is getting more & more intense every year ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ—ฝ๏ธ I remember when you could walk down 5th Avenue at night without worrying about your safety. Now it's like, you never know what's gonna happen ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Daevon Silva was just a young dude, and Lev Vayner was an elderly man... what kinda sicko would do this to innocent people?! ๐Ÿค• The fact that Alon Riabichev was arrested in the same building as Vayner just shows how twisted things can get. It's like, you think you know your neighbors, but sometimes you're wrong ๐Ÿ˜ณ

And yeah, crime is a big issue right now... I'm not surprised to hear about the increase in homicides and felony assaults ๐Ÿคฏ The police are doing their best, but it feels like they're playing catch-up all the time. The fact that there's been a 21% drop in citywide homicides is encouraging, but you gotta wonder if that's just a fluke or what ๐Ÿ˜•

๐Ÿ˜ฑ I'm still trying to wrap my head around this ๐Ÿคฏ. Two men, two different neighborhoods, same modus operandi...stabbing them to death is just so brutal ๐Ÿ’”. Can't we just talk about something else for once? Like the new Marvel movie or the latest gaming console ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ‘พ. I mean, I know crime is a real issue in NYC and all that, but can't we focus on the good stuff too? ๐Ÿ˜Š Anyway, back to this...if Alon Riabichev's neighbor lived in his building for years without anyone noticing he was a potential psycho ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ, what does that say about our city? I guess you could say we're just not paying attention enough ๐Ÿ‘€. Oh, and can someone please tell me when the next season of "Stranger Things" is coming out? ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ‘ป

๐Ÿค• I'm literally shaken by this news... Two innocent lives lost in Manhattan already? It's like something straight out of a Martin Scorsese film ๐Ÿฟ, but it's real life we're talking about here. The fact that both victims were stabbed multiple times is just horrific... ๐Ÿ’” You can't help but wonder what led up to these brutal attacks and if there are more people out there doing the same. And Alon Riabichev being charged with murder? That's a whole 'nother level of shocking ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I'm all for keeping our streets safe, but sometimes I feel like we're just scratching the surface when it comes to addressing this issue... ๐Ÿค”

I'm not buying that these two guys weren't related somehow ๐Ÿค”. They both get stabbed in different areas of Manhattan, but like 15 minutes apart? That's just too weird. I mean, what are the chances? And then this guy Alon Riabichev gets arrested and charged with murder out of nowhere? How do we know he didn't have an accomplice or something? The police data on homicides and assaults is all well and good, but it doesn't add up to me. We need some more info on the motive behind these killings before I start swallowing this story whole. Can someone please get me a source on these numbers?

๐Ÿค• This double homicide is just another tragic reminder of how violent our city can be... I mean, you go about your day, enjoy a show in Times Square or have dinner with friends at Washington Heights... and then suddenly, life takes a dark turn ๐ŸŒ‘. It's unsettling to think that 2 people had their lives cut short by senseless violence. We need to stay vigilant as our city moves forward but I still believe there's hope - we've seen some amazing community initiatives & new programs aimed at reducing crime & promoting peace ๐Ÿ’•... let's keep supporting each other and work towards a safer NYC ๐Ÿ—ฝ๏ธ

man... another senseless tragedy in nyc ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ—ฝ๏ธ two lives lost already this year and it's only january ๐Ÿ˜” gotta keep an eye on our city's crime rates, can't just ignore the trend ๐Ÿ“‰ 21% decrease in homicides is a good thing, but we still gotta take safety measures seriously ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’ก also gotta feel for vayner's family, poor guy was stabbed in his own apartment... how scary must that have been for them ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

this is so sad what's going on in nyc? it feels like every day you hear about another violent crime... i mean, 2 people found murdered in separate incidents? that's just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. i feel for the families of daevon and lev, my heart goes out to them. police are doing their best but it's clear we need more help, maybe some community programs to address underlying issues ๐Ÿค”.

anyway, i'm curious, what do you think is causing this rise in violent crime? is it just a coincidence or is there something deeper going on? ๐Ÿ“Š

omg can't believe what's happening in NYC right now ๐Ÿค•๐ŸŒ† it feels like no matter where you go, there's always gonna be some dude stabbin someone else I'm tryna stay positive tho thinking about all the new ppl that just opened up their own businesses on 5th ave ๐Ÿ’ผ๐ŸŽ‰ and how they're helpin make the city even more poppin' anyway, police should def do a better job at keepin everyone safe ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ช hope whoever did this gets caught ASAP

man... these 2 murders in manhattan are just crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ it's like, what's going on here? first you got daevon silva stabbed to death near times square and now lev vayner gets stabbed to death in his own apartment? ๐Ÿคฏ and to make matters worse, the cops arrested alon riabichev who lives next door to the victim?! that's just wild ๐Ÿ˜ฒ i don't know what's going on but it feels like we're living in a scene from a movie or something. i'm not sure if these murders are connected but if they are, we need to find out why and make some changes ASAP. this is just getting too much ๐Ÿคฏ

man i'm not gonna freak out about this ๐Ÿ™... like, yeah it's super sad that those two guys got murdered, but we gotta think about the good too ๐Ÿค. police were able to catch a suspect in like 2 minutes, which is crazy fast โฑ๏ธ! and they're working hard to figure out what happened, so fingers crossed for justice ๐Ÿ’ช. plus, homicides have actually gone down by 21% this year, that's not bad at all ๐ŸŽ‰. let's keep things in perspective, we gotta celebrate the good stuff too ๐Ÿ˜Š.

๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ข my heart is with the families of Daevon Silva & Lev Vayner ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ’” this double homicide is a harsh reminder that NYC is still dealing with its violent crime issues ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฃ i mean, 21% fewer homicides overall doesn't sound like much when you consider there's been an actual increase in other serious crimes ๐Ÿคฏ what can we do as citizens to help address these concerns? ๐Ÿค should the city be focusing more on community programs & social services? or is it just a case of the police not having enough resources to tackle these violent cases? ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿ˜ฑ OMG guys, another day, another brutal murder in NYC ๐Ÿคฏ! Like I'm not surprised, but at the same time, it's just so sad and frustrating ๐Ÿ˜”. These two men, Daevon and Lev, didn't deserve to go out like that ๐Ÿ’€. It's like, what's going on with our city? Can't we just have a day without some senseless violence? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And now there's this new guy Alon Riabichev, arrested for murder... like, how did they even figure it out? Was it surveillance footage or something? ๐Ÿ’ก

And can we talk about the timing of these attacks? Like, 1 a.m. and 3:15 a.m., back to back, no break ๐Ÿ˜ด. It's scary to think that someone could just walk into an apartment like that... what if he was just looking for a roommate or something? ๐Ÿค” I don't know, maybe I'm just overthinking this, but it just feels so wrong, you know? ๐Ÿ’”

I mean, I guess the police are trying to piece together everything, but can't we just get some answers already?! ๐Ÿ™„ Like, what's the motive behind these attacks? Are they connected? Is there a pattern? Something! Anything! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Man, its like we're living in a dark movie right now ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I feel bad for Daevon Silva's fam, you know? They got stuck with no answers yet. And Lev Vayner... poor dude ๐Ÿ˜”. But here's the thing, Alon Riabichev was already on some shady stuff before this went down ๐Ÿค”. Like, he had a rap sheet and all that jazz. So, I'm not saying its his fault or anything, but you gotta wonder if this was just a matter of time โฐ. And what's with the whole "Midtown North Precinct" vibe? Like, they're already stretched thin dealing with rising crime rates ๐Ÿšจ. Anyways, police are on it, and we'll see where things go from here ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

man this is so scary ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’€ i was walking around manhattan yesterday and I felt like something was off ๐Ÿ˜• but you know how it is, crimes happen anywhere and anytime ๐Ÿค” its not all bad tho, 21% fewer homicides is def a plus ๐Ÿ™Œ but seriously, why do these things keep happening? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ are we just gonna keep living in fear of getting stabbed or attacked ๐Ÿคฏ anyway, glad the cops caught the guy who did lev vayner ๐Ÿ’ช justice will be served ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™ƒ๏ธ #JusticeForLev #StopTheViolence #NYCIsNotSafeYet

omg ๐Ÿ˜ฑ i'm still trying to process what's happening in nyc right now... two innocent ppl stabbed to death, it's just not right ๐Ÿ’”. my heart goes out to daevon's family and friends, he was so young ๐Ÿค•. and lev's wife is going through a nightmare ๐Ÿ™Œ. the fact that these attacks might be connected with the rising violent crime concerns is scary ๐Ÿšจ. can't we just live in peace for once? ๐Ÿ’– let's all send love & support to the affected families โค๏ธ
