Tragedy Strikes in Rockland: 72-Year-Old Man Falls to Death While Trimming Tree, Leaving Community in Shock.

In a devastating incident that has left the community reeling, two maintenance workers from Brentwood Arms Condominium Complex fell more than 40 feet while trimming a tree in Rockland on Monday morning. The 72-year-old man who was among those injured succumbed to his injuries at South Shore Hospital.

According to officials, the two men were using a boom lift when they lost their footing and fell from the height of approximately 40 feet. Investigators are focused on the boom lift as a key factor in the incident and are reviewing surveillance footage to determine what went wrong.

In an account of the events, Rockland Fire Captain David Cowings said that upon arrival at the scene, he found two people down on the ground - one in critical condition who later passed away, while the other was sitting off to the side in serious condition. When asked if such incidents were common for his department, Captain Cowings replied that it is rare but that falls of this height can be deadly.

The incident highlights the importance of proper safety precautions when working at heights. "It's pretty rare," Captain Cowings said, "but any fall from that height is dangerous." Rockland police and OSHA are currently investigating the cause of the incident to determine whether safety protocols were followed and if any equipment malfunction was involved.

As news of the tragedy spreads, residents and officials alike are left grappling with the reality of the devastating consequences of this preventable accident.

Ugh 40 feet is crazy high lol... i cant even imagine losing my footing on something like that. boom lifts are meant to be safe, thats what they're designed for πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I'm actually kinda surprised it happened in a well-maintained building like Brentwood Arms. think the condo staff needs to double-check their safety protocols and training πŸ“. another thing, why didnt the 2 guys on the lift just take their time and check the area before getting off? it's always those split second mistakes that lead to accidents πŸ•°οΈ. anyway, RIP to the guy who passed away πŸ’”, hope his family gets the support they need πŸ€—.

this is such a sad thing that happened its just one accident but it leaves everyone on edge thinking about all the things that could go wrong can we even prevent these accidents by doing regular safety checks on equipment and making sure workers know what theyre doing πŸ€•πŸ’” i feel for the families of the people who lost their lives πŸ’€

I feel so bad for that old man's family πŸ€•... I mean, 72 is like, ancient! Anyway, what's up with those boom lifts? Are they, like, super expensive or something? I saw one online and it was like, a million dollars 😲... and you need special training to use them. My dad does construction stuff sometimes and he told me that safety gear is a must-have. But, I don't know, maybe they just weren't using it right or something πŸ€”... this whole thing is so sad πŸ’”

Ugh, this is just so sad πŸ€•... like, I know accidents can happen to anyone, but 40 feet from a boom lift? That's just crazy! The thing that really gets me is how often people talk about "safety protocols" and then don't follow them. I mean, come on, if you're gonna use a boom lift, make sure it's level and secure first πŸ™„. It's not rocket science.

And yeah, Captain Cowings said it's rare, but that's just the thing - it's preventable. We need to make working at heights safer for everyone, like, now 🚨. I'm all for getting to the bottom of what happened here and making sure it doesn't happen again in the future. It's just so frustrating when we lose people like this πŸ˜”.

man... 72 yrs old just fell from like 40 ft away... that's crazy 😱 gotta give it up to him for making it out alive first tho πŸ™ what kinda fall is gonna take a life tho? boom lift malfunction or human error? gotta be careful when you're working at heights... safety protocols should be in place, but sometimes accidents still happen πŸ’”

man come on πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ 72 year old still trimming tree like he's 25... all these new tech tools available and people still using boom lifts... so many ways to get hurt, but somehow it always happens to some poor soul πŸ’” what's the point of having safety protocols if people just gonna ignore them? πŸ™„

omg what a sad 2day πŸ€• u cannt even walk around outside without worryin bout someone losin ther life lol just wnt to ask wen r these ppl gonna learn 2 b more careful 2? boom lift safety 101 is not that hard but i guess some ppl need 2 die 4 us 2 c sense πŸ˜” the fact that it happened in a condominium complex makes me think thats part of the prob lem. they shud be takin better precautions tho. anyway, rIP 2 the guy who passed away 🌟

πŸ˜” This is just so sad... a 72-year-old man losing his life over something that could've been prevented πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. It's like, we're living in a world where we can do anything and everything to ensure our safety, but sometimes it still happens πŸ’”. The boom lift thing is pretty crazy - I mean, I know they're supposed to be safe, but accidents can happen anytime ⚠️. I feel for the families of the two guys who are left behind πŸ€•. This incident is a harsh reminder that we need to always prioritize our safety, especially when working at heights πŸ’―. It's just not worth risking your life over something that doesn't have to be πŸ˜”.

I mean... 40 feet is like, what's the max height you should be willing to risk your life for? I guess trimming trees can be tough work, but shouldn't we just get a ladder and call it a day lol πŸ˜‚. Seriously though, boom lifts are crazy expensive, I hope they did their safety checks before using it. Poor guy fell 40 feet, that's like trying to jump from the top of a skyscraper... or in my case, trying to fit into skinny jeans after a week of pizza binges 🀣. OSHA needs to make sure those maintenance workers are trained right, can't have them falling off buildings all over the place πŸ˜….

man this is such a sad thing what's the point of having safety protocols in place if people are still gonna get hurt from a stupid fall like that? πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ i mean i get it accidents happen but 40 feet is just crazy anyone who's ever worked at heights knows how easy it is to lose your footing on those things and now this poor guy's dead it's just heartbreaking πŸ’” the boom lift thing is definitely a culprit here and i hope they figure out what went wrong so it doesn't happen again

πŸ€” come on 40ft is not that high, yeah i know it's a fall but some ppl are saying that its gonna happen no matter what u do so why bother? we got all these safety rules and regulations in place and yet still stuff happens. idk if the boom lift was faulty or if they were just being careless. btw has anyone seen that footage of the incident? need to see it before i can form an opinion πŸ“Ή

I mean... 40 feet is a crazy height to be working from 🀯 Boom lifts can be super useful, but you gotta have someone watching over these guys, making sure they're good to go. I'm just saying, it's one thing to use 'em for DIY stuff or whatnot, but when it comes to actual work, like this, something's gotta give πŸ’‘ And yeah, falls from that height can be super deadly... it's just a matter of time before someone gets hurt πŸ•°οΈ. Can't stress enough how important safety protocols are here... I mean, come on, we're better than that 😐

Man, that's just heartbreaking πŸ€•... 40 feet is a huge drop, you know? I remember when my dad used to trim our tree in our backyard, he'd always be so careful. Nowadays, it seems like everyone's too busy rushing around to think about safety. Boom lifts are just so unstable, they're like one accident waiting to happen πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And poor old man who passed away... 72 years young, gone in an instant πŸ˜”. I hope his family gets the support they need during this tough time. It's just a reminder that we've got to be more careful with our lives, you know? We can't just rush through things without thinking about the consequences πŸ’”.

😩 just saw that a 72-year-old dude fell to his death while trimming a tree in Rockland... what's gonna happen to the other guy who's still alive? πŸ€• he's sitting there, but his life is forever changed. boom lift accidents can be super deadly, but still people go for it πŸ’€. can we just take a sec to think about the proper safety precautions people should take when working at heights? it's not that hard, but I guess sometimes accidents just happen πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

Ugh, can you imagine falling 40 feet in the middle of nowhere and just getting up like nothing happened? Like, what's the point of even having a boom lift if it's not gonna hold your weight? πŸ€―πŸ’” The fact that the investigators are focusing on the boom lift is kinda obvious, but I guess they gotta try to figure out what went wrong. I mean, safety protocols are super important and all that jazz, but sometimes accidents just happen. It's like, we're all humans, right? We can all slip up or lose our footing at some point. But still, it's a tragedy and an avoidable one if you ask me. πŸ˜”

Omg 😱 that's so sad... like, 40 feet is crazy high 🀯 how do you even get hurt from a fall that low? I mean, I know it's not safe or anything but it's just hard to imagine πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. I've seen those boom lifts on YouTube and they look so cool 😎 but I guess safety always comes first πŸ’‘. I wonder if the guy who fell was wearing any harnesses or stuff? Maybe he should have been πŸ˜•. Anyway, my grandma always says that accidents can happen to anyone πŸ™. I just hope the people who are investigating this can figure out what went wrong so we can prevent it from happening again πŸ’―.

omg i just got the most amazing avocado toast recipe from a food blogger and it's literally life changing 🀩 i mean have you tried putting pickled jalapenos on top of mashed avocado? game changer! anyway, back to this tragedy in rockland... 72 years old is, like, ancient lol. i wonder what his favorite hobby was... did he have any pets? oh wait, i just remembered that my aunt's neighbor used to work at the local nursery and she said they have these crazy strong pruning tools that can actually cut through thick branches like butter 🀯 maybe that's what happened?
