94-year-old Brooklyn woman is missing amid freezing temperatures, police say

A 94-year-old Brooklyn woman, Elena Fumara, has vanished during a bitterly cold winter weekend, leaving her family and authorities frantically searching for answers. The NYPD reported that Fumara was last seen at the Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues subway station in Bushwick on Saturday night, around 10 p.m., as she made her way to meet some friends.

According to officials, Fumara frequented the same subway station, suggesting she may have been familiar with the area. The elderly woman was described as being approximately 5'3" and weighing 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. On Saturday night, she was seen wearing a green jacket, gray leggings, and a red purse.

Police are now seeking public assistance in locating Fumara, given her slender build and potentially familiar surroundings. The investigation comes as the region experienced extreme cold temperatures over the weekend, with wind chills plummeting below zero degrees. Temperatures were expected to remain below freezing until Tuesday.

Fumara's disappearance has sparked concern among her loved ones and the community at large. If you have any information regarding her whereabouts, authorities are urging individuals to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS or submitting a tip on their website.

Man I'm really worried about this lady Elena Fumara ๐Ÿค•... I mean, she was just out with friends and then poof! Vanished into thin air ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. It's so cold in Brooklyn right now, I feel bad for anyone who has to venture out on the streets. 94 is old age, you know? She should be safe at home with a warm cup of tea โ˜•๏ธ.

I'm not surprised she might have been familiar with the area though - people around here are really good at navigating the subway system ๐Ÿš‚. But it's still super concerning that she just disappeared without a trace. The police need to do everything they can to find her and make sure she's okay โค๏ธ.

๐Ÿ˜• can't believe what's happening to this lady, seems like she just vanished into thin air. I hope they find out what happened to her soon, so much uncertainty for her family ๐Ÿค—. should be some kind of public awareness campaign going on here, maybe flyers or social media posts, something to get the word out quickly โฐ. not sure why they're relying on Crime Stoppers for tips, seems like a really old-fashioned way to do it ๐Ÿ“ž.

This is so sad ๐Ÿค•... I'm thinking about Elena Fumara's family and how worried they must be right now ๐Ÿ˜”. With the weather being this cold, it's easy to imagine her getting lost in the crowd at the subway station. But it's also weird that she was last seen around 10 p.m. - usually people wouldn't be out and about that late on a Saturday night ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. Anyway, I'm sure the police will do everything they can to find her, so fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž that Elena is okay! If you know anything, please come forward... it's always better to speak up when someone's missing ๐Ÿ˜Š.

๐Ÿค” this is so scary for her family... like, what could've happened to her? she's only 94 and was out with friends? that's crazy cold weather they're dealing with right now too ๐Ÿฅถ i hope whoever finds out what happened can provide some answers soon. it's good that the police are reaching out to the public for help though! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

OMG, this is soooo sad ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜”... I mean, can you even imagine if your grandma just vanished like that?! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ It's crazy how quickly the whole neighborhood comes together to help find her - it just goes to show how tight-knit Brooklyn is ๐Ÿ’•. The police are doing everything they can to locate Elena Fumara and keep us updated on any new developments ๐Ÿšจ. I hope she gets found safe and sound, and her family gets some answers soon ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

omg this is so scary my auntie went thru similar thing last year in LA, she was 82 and just vanished into thin air they found her 2 days later shivering on the side of the road like who does that? ๐Ÿคฏ 94 is super old btw but i guess ppl think they can handle more than they actually can lol.

๐ŸŒซ๏ธ I mean, can u imagine being out there in this freezing cold and just... disappearing? like, what if she was waiting for someone or something at the subway station and got left behind? or maybe she just really needed some fresh air and went for a walk but got lost? idk... 94 is ancient btw ๐Ÿคฏ i remember my grandparents being super adventurous when they were that age so maybe she's still out there living her best life ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ‘ต

anyway, the police should totes be looking into any possible connections between Fumara and some of those other senior citizens in Brooklyn... like, what if there's a mystery retirement home or something? ๐Ÿค” also, Crime Stoppers is such a great resource - I wish more people knew about it ๐Ÿ’ก

but seriously, 1-800-TIPS is so easy to remember! should we start a petition for them to make a mobile app or something? ๐Ÿ“ฑ๐Ÿ‘

this is really sad news about Elena Fumara ๐Ÿค•, I hope she's found soon with the cold weather it's even harder for someone like her who's 94 and might not be as able to take care of herself. ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ authorities are doing a great job searching for her and I'm sure the community will come together to help too. ๐Ÿ’š if anyone has any info, please reach out to Crime Stoppers ASAP! ๐Ÿ‘‰

Ugh, I'm so worried about this poor lady ๐Ÿค•. Like, what even is the point of sending out those flyers and posters? We all know that some creepy stranger's gonna find her and, no pun intended, freeze to death in a trash can or something ๐Ÿ˜‚. And don't even get me started on how "familiar surroundings" are just code for "she probably got lost and wandered into an alleyway to die alone". I mean, come on, the NYPD is basically saying she's not missing because she's some sort of clueless senior citizen who can't take care of herself ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. The whole situation just reeks of desperation and a complete lack of faith in human decency ๐Ÿ˜’.

I'm so worried about Elena Fumara, she was just 94 yrs old ๐Ÿค•... I mean, think about all the times I get frustrated with my own routine and I'm young and healthy ๐Ÿ˜ฉ... can you imagine being that small, frail, and trying to brave it through the freezing temperatures? ๐Ÿ’” It's crazy how one wrong move could lead to something so serious.

I hope they find her soon! ๐Ÿ™ The authorities are doing a great job seeking public help and I'm sure everyone is sending their positive vibes for Elena's safe return โค๏ธ.

I'm low-key worried that maybe she just wanted some alone time in this crazy city ๐Ÿค”. I mean, we're always talking about how crowded and noisy NYC is, but what if sometimes people just need to get out of the way? Maybe Elena Fumara didn't wanna deal with all the hustle and bustle anymore, and her "familiar surroundings" are actually just a euphemism for "I don't feel like putting on an act tonight". We're so quick to assume she's in trouble, but what if she's just... on an adventure? ๐ŸŒƒ๐Ÿ’จ

This is just so sad ๐Ÿค•. I mean, can you imagine being 94 and out with friends at a subway station? It's crazy that the police think she might be familiar with the area, but at the same time, it's not like her to just vanish into thin air, you know? Like, in movies, you always see characters being abducted or kidnapped by some huge villain, but in real life, it's usually just something much simpler... I don't know, maybe she got lost or cold? Temperatures are literally subzero right now ๐Ÿฅถ. Anyway, the police need to do everything they can to find her ASAP. The community is already super worried about her fam, and we all gotta come together to help out ๐Ÿ˜Š.

OMG I'm so sorry to hear about this ๐Ÿค• Elena sounds like such an amazing person! I can imagine how worried her family must be - 94 is old, you know? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ But at the same time, it's crazy that she just vanished into thin air! The police are doing their best to find out what happened, but it's super frustrating for everyone involved.

I think it's wild that she was familiar with that subway station, huh? Maybe someone saw her walking around or something? ๐Ÿค” Fingers crossed they get some tips soon. It's also kinda sad that the weather was so extreme over the weekend... I hope whoever finds Elena gets to keep her warm and safe โค๏ธ

omg, this is so scary ๐Ÿ˜ฑ she's been missing for like, days now and the cold temps aren't helping... i feel bad for her fam, they must be going crazy with worry ๐Ÿ’”. i'm not sure if it's weird that she was at the subway station before, though - maybe someone should've kept an eye on her or something ๐Ÿค”? anyway, gotta hope she's safe and sound soon ๐Ÿ™.

I'm getting really worried about this lady, her family is probably freaking out ๐Ÿค•. 94 is old enough to know what's going on but still young enough to be thoughtless. I hope she's okay and someone can help find her soon, the cops are doing their best but more info would be super helpful ๐Ÿ’ก. The cold weather in NYC isn't exactly friendly for a senior citizen, it's just a nightmare waiting to happen ๐Ÿ˜“. Has anyone heard anything about her friends? Were they together when she left the subway station or did she go out by herself?

๐Ÿค• Man, this is so sad ๐Ÿ™. I mean, I know it's cold outside and all that, but you'd think the NYPD would have some way of tracking down an elderly woman in a crowded subway station... ๐Ÿ˜’. And yeah, she was wearing some pretty distinctive clothes, so I'm not sure why they're stressing about her being familiar with the area ๐Ÿค”.

But seriously, 94 is old, fam ๐Ÿ‘ด. You'd think people would be more careful when it comes to stuff like this ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I mean, I've seen my grandma slip up and get lost in a grocery store before, but at least she had some friends or family nearby to help find her ๐Ÿค—.

It's just really weird that the police aren't finding any leads or anything... do they not have enough resources? Or are people just not coming forward with info? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Anyway, I hope Elena Fumara turns up safe and sound ๐Ÿ™.

I'm not buying all this tech stuff they're using to try and find this lady... I mean, what's the point of having a fancy system set up if it's just gonna be a waste of time? ๐Ÿค” They should just put out some flyers around the neighborhood with her pic on them and see if anyone recognizes her. This "Crime Stoppers" thing sounds like just another way for them to collect more data, you know? And what's with all these weird codes and numbers they're giving people? Just give me a simple phone number or something. It's cold outside, let's focus on finding this lady first! ๐Ÿ˜”

ugh, someone's gotta find elena fumara already ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜“ she's only 94 and people r lookin for her ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ i mean, i know it's cold out but comon nyc! โ„๏ธ the cops r prob like "oh, she's probably just gone to visit some friends" ๐Ÿ˜’ like that's gonna help find her fam fast. and 5'3"? that's not even like, tiny... that's just a normal height lol. anywayz, i hope they find her soon ๐Ÿคž๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿค” this is so worrisome, i mean i've heard of people getting lost in the city, especially during bad weather, but 94 is ancient ๐Ÿ™ my grandma would still be kicking it at that age and she's super health conscious lol. anyway, hope they find her soon, i'd freak out if someone i loved vanished like this ๐Ÿ’”
