A Long Game by Elizabeth McCracken review – here's how to really write your novel

idk why ppl need a book tellin em how 2 write, i mean whats wrong w/ just writin what feels rite? dont need all that bs about showin vs teln, just get it down. and btw, "sustained mischievous truancy" sounds like a pretty cool way 2 describe writin 🤔💫

I'm not sure I agree with this new approach to creative writing workshops... 🤔 I mean, isn't the point of getting feedback from others to help us improve our craft? If everyone's just being "mischevous" and "unbridled", how can we even know if it's good or bad? And what about all those writers who are struggling just to finish a first draft? 📝 I don't think self-loathing is a healthy way to stay motivated, that just sounds like a recipe for burnout. Plus, won't this new approach just make writing feel more like a game or a joke? Where's the substance? The depth? 😐

omg i gotta say i love elizabeth mccracken's new book A Long Game its so refreshingly real she calls out all the bs that goes on in those writing workshops like "show, don't tell" is just a tired old trope lol and i'm lowkey obsessed with her whole self-loathing thing as a motivator idk about you but i think thats where the magic happens 🤣

I'm loving this new book by Elizabeth McCracken - A Long Game is literally shaking things up in the writing community 🤯. She's so refreshing to read, like a breath of fresh air, and her humor has me dying 😂. I mean, who doesn't love a good dose of sarcasm with their writing advice? It's not always easy to stomach, but trust me it's necessary.

I've been in workshops where the feedback was just too formulaic and clichéd - "show, don't tell" this and "write what you know" that... yawn. McCracken's book is like a wake-up call, telling us that maybe we don't need all those rules to write something amazing 💥.

I love how she pokes fun at the whole workshop culture, but also offers a solution - embracing our own unique weirdness and not being afraid to make mistakes 🤪. It's liberating to read, you know? No more feeling like I have to conform to some arbitrary standard of "good" writing.

Anyway, if you're tired of the same old writing advice, you need to check out A Long Game ASAP ⏰. McCracken's book is a game-changer (no pun intended 😉).

Ugh, just read that famous author's new book "A Long Game" and I'm already stressed out about all the writer's gonna do wrong 🤯😩. Like, who thought it was a good idea to write a whole book about how nobody knows how to write a book? 🙄 It sounds like a total downer, but I guess that's kinda the point... writers are always supposed to be full of self-loathing anyway, right? 😒 And don't even get me started on the part about harnessing power from self-loathing - what a mess. Just great, another book telling people to just give up and be bad at writing 📝😡. I'm sure it'll inspire all the aspiring writers out there to throw in the towel...
