A new comedy about family, anger and magical chicken soup is premiering in Philly

A New Comedy to Soothe Frustrations is Coming to Center City this Spring

Philadelphia's Theatre Ariel is set to bring a world premiere comedy to the city's theater scene this spring. "Marsha Blovotnick and the Marvelous Magical Chicken Soup" is a play that weaves together family, anger, and magical realism.

The story centers around Marsha Blovotnick, an angry woman who's bracing herself for Shabbat when her sister shows up unexpectedly. However, what starts off as an ordinary dinner quickly takes a turn for the extraordinary with the arrival of a mysterious ancestor carrying a pot of magical chicken soup.

Forced to confront their strained family relationships and Marsha's years-long pent-up anger, the evening sets out to challenge traditional notions of family dynamics. This new play promises to be an entertaining yet thought-provoking exploration of the human experience.

The production is set to run from March 12-22 at The Bluver Theatre @ The Drake in Philadelphia, with tickets ranging from $18-$36.

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." 🌟 When it comes to theatre experiences, some shows can be quite predictable but this one seems like a wild ride! I can already imagine the chaos unfolding on stage, with Marsha's anger boiling over and her family dynamics going from zero to a hundred in 0.01 seconds β±οΈπŸ”„. It's gonna be hilarious! And I love that it's tackling real issues like strained relationships and pent-up emotions – it'll be so satisfying to see the characters work through their problems.

I'm so down for some much-needed laughter this spring 🀣! A comedy that tackles family dynamics and anger with magical realism sounds like a game-changer. I love how it's pushing the boundaries of traditional storytelling by incorporating fantastical elements to convey real-life struggles.

It's also dope that the play is centering Marsha Blovotnick, a relatable character for many people who've had their fair share of pent-up anger and frustration. The fact that the production is tackling these deeper themes in an entertaining way is what I'm excited about 🎭. Plus, it's great to see Philly getting some new theatre offerings - can't wait to grab those discounted $18 tix 😊

OMG 🀣 a comedy about a girl who's just soooo done with her family... sounds like my aunt on Friday nights πŸ˜‚. But for real, magical realism is such a cool twist on the traditional "family drama" theme. I'm intrigued to see how they'll pull it off πŸ€”. Anyone else excited for some much-needed laughter and introspection in the spring? 🌷 And $18-$36 for tickets? Worth it? πŸ€‘

πŸ€” I'm intrigued by this new comedy coming to Center City! It sounds like it could be a unique blend of humor and heart, tackling some heavy family dynamics in a magical realist way. I love that the play is exploring traditional notions of family relationships in a fresh and thought-provoking way.

The concept of Marsha Blovotnick's anger and her sister showing up unexpectedly already has me curious about how the story unfolds. And having a mysterious ancestor carrying a pot of magical chicken soup adds an extra layer of whimsy to the mix! I'm definitely going to check out this production when it comes to town, especially since it's a world premiere.

I'm also excited to see what kind of talent is behind this play – has anyone heard anything about the cast or crew? 🎭

Magical realism is such an underrated genre and I'm excited to see how "Marsha Blovotnick and the Marvelous Magical Chicken Soup" will blend family drama with whimsy #ComedyGold #FamilyDramaReimagined. OMG, I'm so down for this comedy! 🀣 Magical realism? That sounds like my cup of tea right now. Family drama can be super relatable tho, i've been there too many times where family gatherings just felt like a recipe for disaster πŸ˜‚. The fact that it's a world premiere means the writers are probably trying to tackle some real issues, and I'm here for that kind of storytelling. 18 bucks is still kinda pricey tho πŸ€‘

Ugh, I'm so down for a good laugh this spring 🀣! A comedy about family drama and magical realism sounds like just what we need to take our minds off things. I love how it's set in Philly too - we could all use some good vibes from Center City right now. But, on the flip side, have you seen the prices for tickets? $36 is kinda steep, if you ask me πŸ€‘. Still, if it's good, it'll be worth it... fingers crossed!

ugh, just what we need another overpriced theatre show πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ. like people are really going to shell out cash for a bunch of drama and fancy words... i mean, magical realism? please, it's just code for "we're trying too hard to be deep". and the cast is probably all gonna be super talented but totally uninteresting outside of their characters πŸ™„. also, $36 for a ticket? are they kidding me? that's just ridiculous πŸ’Έ.

omg u guys i just got my tickets 2 "Marsha Blovotnick and the Marvelous Magical Chicken Soup" already can't w8 2 c how it plays out... i feel like marsha lol her anger is literally my therapy sessions with my mom rn 🀣🍜 i've been dealing with family drama 4eva & this play seems like it's gonna hit close 2 home. also, who comes up with these names?? marsha blovotnick sounds like my aunt from high school πŸ˜‚ i'm def buying those $36 tickets πŸ‘€

I'm so down for this comedy show, but let's talk about how it relates to our current socio-economic climate πŸ€”. With the rising cost of living and family stress levels on the rise, I think this play is going to hit way too close to home for a lot of people 😬. The idea that we can just ignore our problems and have a magical fix-all dinner sounds like a dream come true, but in reality, our issues run much deeper.

I'm curious if the playwright has considered exploring how systemic injustices affect family dynamics? Like, what if Marsha's anger is a result of years of being marginalized or ignored by her community? It would add another layer of complexity to the play. Still excited to see it, though! 🎭

OMG u guys I just found out about this new comedy play and I am SO down 🀩! It sounds like it's gonna be a wild ride - Marsha's got some SERIOUS anger issues and her sister shows up uninvited lol what's good?! And the magical chicken soup is already making me LOL πŸ²πŸ˜‚. But seriously, I'm intrigued by how they're gonna tackle family dynamics and all that drama. It's always cool to see plays that make you laugh AND think at the same time πŸ€”. I'll def be checking it out when it comes to Philly!

OMG 🀣 u gotta see dis play! its like, marsha is literally stuck at home waiting for shabbat and her sister shows up uninvited? how rude, rite? πŸ˜’ but then thier dad shows up outta thin air with magical chicken soup and it gets all weird and familliy drama ensues. idk if its gonna be funny or deep but i need to see it 2 c the reactions of ppl when marsha is trying 2 keep her anger in 🀐. anyhoo, $18-$36 sounds like a decent price 4 a good show.
