A newborn’s death likely linked to the mom drinking raw milk while pregnant

A Tragic Toll: Raw Milk Linked to Newborn's Listeria-Induced Death

The death of a newborn baby has left health officials reeling, as they pinpoint an alarming trend: the mother consumed raw milk during pregnancy. The disturbing connection has prompted a warning from New Mexico authorities, cautioning people against the consumption of unpasteurized dairy products.

In recent years, interest in raw milk has surged, fueled by social media and advocacy groups like Make America Healthy Again. However, the risks associated with this trend cannot be overstated. Listeria, a bacteria that can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, preterm birth, or fatal infections in newborns, is just one of the many germs present in raw milk.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have long emphasized the importance of pasteurization – heating milk to high temperatures to kill disease-causing bacteria. This process has been shown to prevent listeria infections as well as other illnesses caused by avian influenza, brucella, tuberculosis, salmonella, campylobacter, cryptosporidium, and E. coli.

The newborn's tragic fate serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by raw milk. The fact that the mother consumed unpasteurized dairy during pregnancy significantly increases the risk of infection transmission to her child. Young children, older adults, and those with compromised immune systems are particularly vulnerable to these germs, highlighting the need for vigilance and caution.

Health officials urge the public to prioritize their safety by avoiding raw milk and opting for pasteurized alternatives instead. As the debate surrounding raw milk continues, it's essential to acknowledge the alarming consequences of ignoring this crucial health precaution.

man i had a friend who used to drink raw milk all the time back in college she was super into that stuff but her sister had a kid who died from listeria and now she's like totally against it lol i get it though raw milk is not worth the risk especially when you're pregnant or have a baby they need us to be careful for them 🤕

I'm totally down with drinking raw milk 🤪! I mean, who needs pasteurization anyway? It's just a fancy way of killing off all the good bacteria and nutrients in the milk. And yeah, sure, listeria is a risk, but I'd rather die from a little food poisoning than be forced to drink bland, processed milk all day. Plus, raw milk tastes way better than that fake stuff. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are just trying to control our lives with their strict regulations 🚫. Let's not forget the benefits of fermented foods and living off the land!

🚨😱 this is getting outta hand... people are still drinking that crap? like, I get the appeal or whatever but come on, risk your newborns life? 🤯 and now there's a warning sign up everywhere... it's not even subtle anymore. pasteurization 101, folks! 💦

I cant believe some ppl think raw milk is healthy lol 🙄 I mean I get it, people want what nature provides, but come on! If we're gonna drink it we gotta be 100% sure it's safe first 💉. My kid would have been a goner if I didn't stick to pasteurized milk when they were little 😱. I'm all for letting parents make their own choices, but this is just common sense 🤦‍♀️. Listeria can be super nasty and newborns are so vulnerable 💔. Let's just stick with the safer option, ok? 🙏

Raw milk is literally a death wish 🤯😨 I mean, come on people! You're playing with fire when you choose unpasteurized dairy over pasteurized. It's not just listeria, it could be anything - avian influenza, brucella... like the woman in that New Mexico story had no idea she was putting her unborn baby at risk by drinking raw milk 🤦‍♀️. And what's with all these advocacy groups making it sound like pasteurization is some kind of conspiracy? Newsflash: it's science, folks! Pasteurization is a proven way to kill bacteria that can cause harm. Don't be so reckless and prioritize your health for once 😒

Wow 😱 the risks associated with raw milk are so high... it's just not worth the gamble 🤕 especially when you're pregnant or have a newborn 🍼 like in this tragic case 💔 I totally get why health officials are pushing for people to stick to pasteurized dairy products 🥛 their safety should always come first 🙏

🤕 just heard about this newborn who died from listeria in raw milk... its like they were playing with fire 🚒 and now a whole family is crying 💔 anyone else drinkin that raw stuff? 😱 shouldnt be worth the risk to your little ones 🍼 1 in 4,500 people die from listeria every year 📊 gotta spread awareness about pasteurization 🔥
