A wake-up call for white Americans

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this... it's like America is having a major identity crisis or something . I mean, how can people who are supposed to protect and serve the country turn on its own citizens? It's like, what even happened to all that talk about freedom and justice for all?

I'm so tired of these incidents where cops/agents just lose it and start shooting people willy-nilly. Like, Renee Good and Alex Pretti - two innocent people who didn't deserve to die . And now we're seeing entire neighborhoods in fear... it's like America is a war zone or something .

I'm not sure what's going on with this "domestic terrorist" label thing, but it's just so wrong . Like, what even is that supposed to mean? That white Americans are somehow less American because they're exercising their rights? No way, dude .

We need more people like Robin D.G. Kelley talking about America's history and how we got here . I'm not saying it's a perfect country or anything, but come on... let's try to make some progress instead of just pointing fingers .

And honestly, I'm a bit scared for what the future holds . But I'm also hopeful that we can have these hard conversations and start making changes . We need more people like us who are willing to speak out and fight for justice .

this whole thing is wild. i mean, who labels people domestic terrorists just cuz they're exercising their rights? it's like, come on, folks. america's got a history of messing with its own citizens, from the lynchings to the vietnam war protests. and now we're seeing a repeat of some of that same mentality. white americans are getting brutalized for being in the wrong place at the time wrong, but nobody's talking about the systemic issues here. like, what's going on with all these ICE agents just roaming around? it's not just about black & brown folks being victims, it's about us too

I'm literally shook by these incidents . Like, how can we even justify labeling people "domestic terrorists" for exercising their rights? It's like, hello, that's what our founding fathers fought for! And the fact that eight people have lost their lives because of ICE is just... *sigh*... it's a travesty.

And you're right, we need to acknowledge the systemic racism and oppression that's been part of America's history since day one. It's not like we can just pretend it didn't happen or that we've magically become a more equal society overnight .

I think what's really scary is how this toxic rhetoric is spreading like wildfire, especially among white Americans who are still trying to wrap their heads around the reality of systemic racism. It's like they're stuck in some kind of cognitive dissonance where they can't accept that they've been wronged by a system that's supposed to protect them .

But here's the thing - we need more people of conscience, especially white people, who are willing to make good trouble and fight for justice. We need them to lean into solidarity and recognize that our struggles are not separate, but interconnected . And most importantly, we need them to confront their own humanity and decide what type of person they want to be in this moment .

It's time for us to wake up and acknowledge the elephant in the room - America has never been a country of equal opportunity for all its citizens. Only some have had access to true equality, and it's time we start fighting for the rest .
