Agatha Christie's Seven Dials review – think Downton Abbey is real? This terrible adaptation is for you

I gotta disagree with this review . I mean, come on, who tries to kill Iain Glen by bull in the first scene? That's just ridiculous . And yeah, the Cootes are pretty one-dimensional, but maybe they're not meant to be the main villains? The show might be predictable, but that's what makes it feel like a cozy period drama, you know? It's not trying to win any awards for originality or anything .

And can we talk about Helena Bonham Carter as Lady Caterham? She's got some serious acting chops, even in this mediocre production . And Martin Freeman is great as Supt Battle, but he can't carry the whole show on his own... I think. The reviewer just needs to chill out and enjoy the ride .

I mean, Agatha Christie's works are all about mystery and suspense, so if this adaptation doesn't deliver in those departments, what's wrong with that? Maybe it's just not the reviewer's cup of tea, but for me, it's a fun watch .

i mean, what's up with this adaptation? its like they took all the intrigue and suspense out of seven dials and replaced it with some boring mystery to solve . i feel like bundle is just a prop to get the story moving, not an actual character with her own agency . and don't even get me started on the cootes... they're like the tv equivalent of a wet sock . it's like the writers thought they could coast on the name recognition of agatha christie alone . i'm still waiting for that detective to show up and bring some real tension to the table

I mean, what's up with the bull murder scene tho? It's like they wanted to shock us or something. And don't even get me started on Lady Bundle's character... feels like a lazy interpretation of a classic character. The pacing is super slow too, it's like watching paint dry. I've seen better period dramas on Masterpiece Theatre. What did they do wrong? Wasn't Chris Chibnall supposed to be a pro at this kind of thing? Anyway, not my cup of tea.

I get why they'd wanna adapt Seven Dials, its a classic novel, but the execution feels off. The pacing is way too slow, like they're trying to milk every minute outta us . And yeah, the characters are pretty flat, especially Bundle - her 'wit' comes across as forced and cringeworthy . Martin Freeman's arrival is a highlight tho! He brings some much-needed gravitas to the show . Overall, I'd say it's a solid effort but not exactly the masterpiece everyone was hoping for .
