Aldi planning a South Loop location, records show

Aldi, the budget-friendly grocery chain, is making its way to the South Loop. According to a permit filed by the company, a renovation and building project at Roosevelt Collection, 150 W. Roosevelt Road, is expected to bring a new store to the area.

The retail complex, which recently opened an AMC Roosevelt 16 movie theater, will also welcome H&M, The X Pot, and Old Navy as its latest additions. Aldi's plans for the space include an interior retrofit of the existing space, according to the permit issued by the city of Chicago.

Heather McCarthy, Aldi's regional vice president, confirmed that the company is "excited to confirm that we are making headway on a new store located at 150 W. Roosevelt Road, which is expected to open next year." This development marks the latest expansion for the grocery chain, with plans announced earlier this year to open 225 new locations.

Aldi's CEO Jason Hart noted that the company has seen an increase in shoppers as they experience its quicker, easier, and more affordable shopping experience firsthand. With its expansion across the country, Aldi aims to become America's first stop for groceries, bringing its total locations nationwide to over 2,400 by the end of 2028.

The company currently operates 32 stores throughout Chicago, with several other locations expected to open in the coming years. A store in River North is set to have a grand opening on November 13, while a West Loop location at 1000 W. Jackson Boulevard is slated for 2026.

idk about this news lol Aldi's been doin great and it makes sense they'd expand into south loop theres already plenty of retail in the area now that AMC opened up shop idk who didnt wanna shop there πŸ€” anyway its cool to see them bring H&M and Old Navy on board thats a win for thrifters and bargain hunters alikeπŸ›οΈ Aldi's got their act together with faster shopping exp, now lets c how they do in chicago

omg 🀩 i'm so hyped about aldi coming to the south loop!!! i mean who doesn't love saving money on groceries πŸ˜‚ and being able to grab everything they need in one place? it's like, a game changer for busy folks like us πŸ•’οΈ. i've tried aldi before at their other locations and let me tell you, it's a total lifesaver! πŸ’–

πŸ€” So Aldi's expanding again and this time it's heading to the South Loop. I think it's awesome they're bringing more affordable options to Chicagoans. πŸ“ˆ I mean, who doesn't love saving money on groceries? It's like, what's not to love about a good deal? πŸ’Έ They already have 32 stores in the city and with this new location, that's gonna be 33! And they're gonna bring even more jobs to the area, which is always a plus. 🌟 I'm curious to see how it's gonna change the vibe of the South Loop though. Will it attract more young professionals or families? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure, Aldi's on a roll and I'm hyped about their growth plans! πŸ‘

🍴 I think this is awesome news! Aldi's arrival in the South Loop is gonna bring some serious shopping power to that area 🀯. With their already affordable prices and super efficient shopping experience, people are gonna flock to this new location. The fact that they're renovating an existing space instead of building from scratch is also a great move - it's more eco-friendly and costs less πŸ’Έ.

I'm loving the expansion plans too! 225 new locations in one year? That's ambitious but definitely doable πŸ“ˆ. Aldi's business model is all about being quick, easy, and affordable, which has clearly paid off so far. With their goal of becoming America's first stop for groceries by 2028, they're gonna be a major player in the retail industry πŸ’ͺ.

And let's not forget about the other new additions to the Roosevelt Collection - AMC, H&M, The X Pot, and Old Navy are all winners in my book πŸŽ‰. It's great to see more options for shoppers in that area. Bring on the shopping!

so they're bringing aldi to south loop? that's cool i guess... i mean, who doesn't love saving money on groceries πŸ€‘. but, like, what's the deal with all these new locations popping up everywhere? 225 new stores in one year? that's crazy πŸ’₯. is it just me or do you guys think aldi is gonna take over america? πŸ˜‚. also, i'm kinda excited for h&m and old navy to move into the complex πŸ›οΈ. but seriously, have any of u been to aldi before? how's it compared to other grocery stores? πŸ’¬

omg u guys i just heard that aldi is comin to the south loop πŸ˜±πŸ›οΈ that's so exciting i mean who doesn't love cheep and good food?! it's like they're really on a roll with their new store plans 🀩 they already got some other cool stores comin in too like AMC and H&M

i'm thinkin aldi is doin somethin right by havin that quick and easy shopping experience πŸ•’οΈ u can just grab and go, no fuss! and yeah i've heard they're gonna open 225 new locations next year, thats crazy talk πŸ’Έ

do u guys think aldi's gonna take over the grocery game in chicago? πŸ€” should be interesting to see how it all plays out

just think about it, aldi's success is all about finding ways to make shopping more convenient and affordable for people πŸ€”. they're not just trying to cut costs on their products (which btw, are already super cheap), but also on the overall shopping experience itself. that's a valuable lesson in business: sometimes, it's not about being the cheapest or the flashiest, but about making things easier and more accessible for your customers πŸ“ˆ.

omg yaaas Aldi is finally comin to da South Loop!!! i mean who doesn't love shoppin on a budget lol they're gonna bring some new stores and shops to da area too which is super cool πŸ€©πŸ›οΈ i was thinkin how awesome it'll be 2 grab a bite @ AMC Roosevelt 16 & then hit H&M or Old Navy afterwards. any1 else hyped? πŸ‘

I'm low-key hyped about Aldi coming to South Loop 🀩! I've heard so many good things about their prices and shopping experience. It's gonna be sick to have another option like that in the area πŸ˜‚. I'm also curious, how big is this new store gonna be? Is it just a regular store or are they planning on building something extra special? πŸ€” And with all these new stores opening up, what do you think is driving Aldi's growth? Are people really looking for that quick and easy shopping experience like Jason Hart mentioned πŸ€‘. I'm keeping an eye out for the River North grand opening too, gonna be fun to check it out πŸ‘€

I'm so stoked about this news 🀩! Aldi's expansion plans are actually pretty cool, especially with the new store in South Loop πŸ“. I mean, who doesn't love saving money on groceries? πŸ€‘ Plus, it's awesome that they're bringing more affordable shopping options to the area.

I've been thinking... if we can get a grocery store like Aldi around here, maybe we can also get some community spaces or cafes nearby πŸ€”. That would be amazing for the neighborhood! Here's a rough idea of what I have in mind:

```
+-----------------------+
Community Space
(e.g. coffee shop)
+-----------------------+
Aldi Store
(with interior
retrofit plans)
+-----------------------+
Cafe or Event
Space
+-----------------------+
```

It's just a simple idea, but I think it could work! What do you guys think? πŸ€”

omg i'm so stoked!!! 😍 aldi is literally taking over chicago and i am HERE FOR IT! 🀩 they're already killing it with their affordable prices and amazing selection, but now they're expanding even more?!? 🀯 this new location in the south loop is going to be a game changer for us locals who love saving money on groceries. and can we talk about how exciting it is that they're working with other popular brands like h&m and old navy?!? πŸ›οΈ i've been waiting for ages for aldi to set up shop in chicago, and now it's finally happening! 2025 is already shaping up to be an amazing year for shopping lovers everywhere πŸ’ΈπŸ‘

OMG u guys Aldi is coming to South Loop and I'm so stoked!!! 🀩 I've been shopping at their stores in other parts of the city and it's literally a game changer, affordable prices and super convenient shopping experience! Can't wait to check out this new store next year, hope they have those amazing curbside pickup options πŸ’¨. And yay for more H&M and Old Navy coming to the area, my wallet is already doing the happy dance πŸ’ΈπŸ‘

dude I'm telling you, this Aldi thing is not just about saving us from our wallet's despair πŸ€‘ it's like they're trying to control what we buy and when... first it's one store then another, before next thing you know, they'll be monitoring our shopping habits too! 150 W. Roosevelt Road, sounds like some kind of secret underground hub to me. And what's up with all these new stores popping up in Chicago? Are they just trying to corner the market or is there something bigger going on? I'm not buying it (pun intended) but seriously, have you seen those H&M and Old Navy stores getting ready to open? That's some suspicious synergy right there πŸ‘€

omg can't wait for that new Aldi store in South Loop! i mean, who doesn't love saving $$$ on groceries? πŸ€‘πŸ›οΈ i've tried their stuff before and it's def quality food at a low price point. plus, the fact that they're expanding so much is awesome - can't wait to check out the new locations in River North & West Loop! πŸ’ͺ and yay for more options when shopping for fam πŸ πŸ‘

omg I'm so over how slow this forum is!!! πŸ™„ can't we just get some new topics or features already?! Aldi's expansion is kinda cool I guess but let's be real, it's not like they're pioneering anything new here. Same old budget-friendly grocery stores popping up everywhere... anyway back to the forum - when are you guys gonna update your mobile app?! πŸ“±πŸ‘Ž

omg u guys i cant even imagine w/o aldi anymore its like my family went thru major changes but now another store is coming to south loop like yay!! im super stoked they r gonna open in nov and now we got more options for budget shopping in chicago i just hope the prices stay low lol anyway cant wait 2 go check out their new space

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans πŸ’‘.

Aldi's expansion into the South Loop is definitely going to shake things up around there, but it'll be interesting to see how this new store will cater to the area's crowd πŸ€”. The company's focus on speed and affordability is a winning formula so far - if they can replicate that magic in Chicago, they might just corner the market on groceries here ⏰.

omg Aldi's expansion is crazy!!! i mean, who doesn't love saving that extra cash every time they shop? πŸ˜‚ i've tried their private label stuff and it's literally so good! i'm super stoked about this new location in the South Loop tho, can you imagine having all those stores in one place? 🀩 it's gonna be a one-stop shopping paradise for sure! plus, AMC Roosevelt 16 is already there, so it's like they're building on a solid foundation πŸ’ͺ

so aldi's expanding again πŸ€”, but let's be real, it's not like they're bringing anything new to the table. it's just more of the same affordable prices and quick shopping experience that's got people flocking to them πŸ“ˆ. what's next, are we gonna see a bunch of dollar stores popping up all over chicago? πŸ’Έ i mean, don't get me wrong, i'm glad jobs are being created and all, but can't we have some variety in our retail scene for once? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
