Alexander Isak ends drought as Liverpool stop rot with win at West Ham

Liverpool finally ended their six-game goal drought with a 2-0 win over West Ham at the London Stadium, handing manager Jurgen Slot a welcome boost in his side's battle to avoid rot.

For long periods, it was a tedious affair with both teams struggling to create scoring opportunities. The only hint of excitement came when Alexander Isak finally broke his Liverpool goal drought after 60 minutes, but even that was somewhat subdued by the overall lackluster display.

Isak's goal arrived courtesy of a beautifully weighted finish from Cody Gakpo, who received a neat pass from Florian Wirtz on the hour mark. The Swedish striker had been a handful for West Ham all game, and his first league goal in over 90 minutes gave Liverpool a deserved lead just before halftime.

Despite the visitors' best efforts to stage a comeback, they ultimately succumbed to Liverpool's improved form, with Gakpo adding a second in the final minutes of the game. The victory marked Liverpool's second Premier League win in 71 days and ensured that Slot's side remained out of the relegation zone for now.

However, it was West Ham who were left to rue their own shortcomings on the day. Lucas Paquetá's red card just before halftime meant that the visitors were forced into a rearguard action, but they still struggled to cope with Liverpool's 4-2-3-1 formation.

For Slot, the win will be seen as a welcome relief and a chance to rebuild his team's confidence. While it was not their finest hour, this victory proved that his side can still compete at the top level. And for Isak, who finally broke his goal drought with an excellent finish, there is hope that he can settle into the team's system and become the player Slot had envisioned.

But make no mistake, Liverpool will need to significantly improve if they are to avoid a downward spiral of form. The win was not pretty, but it marked a turning point for the team. And for West Ham, it was just another example of how ordinary they can be when things don't go their way.

man, what a game 🤯! Liverpool's 2-0 win over West Ham is defo a boost for Jurgen Slot and his team 😊. but let's be real, that goal drought for Isak was super long 🕰️ - 60 minutes without a single goal? that's frustrating for any player, especially one as talented as him 🤷‍♂️.

anywayz, the win marks a turning point for Liverpool, they need to keep it up or else they'll fall back into form 😬. and omg, Paquetá's red card was a major bummer for West Ham 💔 - that just gave Liverpool an easy chance to score 🎯. anywayz, it was a solid win for the Reds 🔴, but we can't get too hyped just yet, they've still got a long way to go 🚀.

oh, and let's not forget about Gakpo's amazing assist on Isak's goal 😎 - that was some top-notch stuff right there 👏. now if only Liverpool could string together a few more wins like this, we might see some real progress 🔝. fingers crossed for the Reds 💕!

omg u gotta feel 4 Liverpool tho 🤣 they were literally stuck in goal drought limbo 4eva!!1! but alexander isak finally broke free & scored like a pro, all thanks to that sick pass from gakpo 🤩 anyway, slot's side just needed this win 2 get back on track & u can tell they're feeling pretty confident now 💪 west ham, on the other hand, were just meh 🤷‍♂️ lucas paquetá's red card did their chances of winning 4 them 2o much tho 😜

omg lol cant believe i was on the edge of my seat watching this game 🤯 6 games without a goal and then alex isak breaks that drought with a sick finish from cody gakpo 💥 but seriously tho, jurgs gotta get his team together 4-2-3-1 formation or watever its called isnt cutting it 🙄 west ham got served btw cant believe they just threw lucas paquetá out of the game lol

omg can u believe liverpool finally broke that 6-game goal drought lol what a weight off their shoulders 😅 anyhoo i think slot's got his work cut out if he wants to keep lfc in the top 4 form needs to pick up ASAP ⏱️ isak's goal was beaut tho 🤩 and west ham are just so inconsistent man u can't rely on them every week 💔 cody gakpo did it again tho what a player 🔥

I'm tellin' ya, this whole thing with Liverpool and West Ham is super suspicious 🤑. I mean, think about it, 6-game goal drought? That's like a secret plot to get the team in trouble. And then suddenly, Alexander Isak breaks through with that beautiful goal... too convenient! It's like they wanted him to score, you feel me? 😏

And what about Lucas Paquetá's red card? Like, what was he even thinking?! 🤔 That changes the whole game, right? It's like they took away their best player just when things were going badly for them. I'm not saying it's a conspiracy or anything (okay, maybe I am 😜), but there's gotta be more to this story than meets the eye.

And have you seen the formation that Liverpool was using? 4-2-3-1? That's like a special code or something! 💡 It's like they're trying to send some kinda message to us, the fans. Maybe it's not just about winning games anymore... maybe it's about hiding the truth 🤫.

omg i feel bad 4 west ham tho 😩 their defense was so weak n they cant take care of lucas paquetá's red card 🤦‍♂️ liverpool played well but its not like they dominated the game or anything 2-0 is a decent result 4 them but still, urgh i wish west ham cud get some inspiration 4 there next match 💔
