Already Perfect review – Broadway star faces the past to make peace with himself

"Already Perfect", the latest semi-autobiographical musical on Broadway, is a raw and unflinching exploration of its star, Levi Kreis, as he grapples with his past demons. The show's title is also its biggest spoiler, but it's hard to deny the sincerity that shines through in Kreis's performance.

As he navigates the highs and lows of his life, from self-hating adolescence to self-destructive adulthood, Kreis brings a level of vulnerability that's both captivating and painful to watch. His portrayal of Matthew, the younger version of himself, is particularly impressive, conveying the turmoil and confusion of coming-of-age in a way that feels deeply authentic.

But what sets "Already Perfect" apart from other musicals is its bold storytelling style, which eschews subtlety for raw emotional impact. The dialogue can be overwhelming at times, spelling out Levi's thoughts and feelings with little room for nuance or interpretation. It's like being hit over the head with a sledgehammer – it's loud, it's clear, and it's impossible to ignore.

Yet, despite this lack of subtlety, there's something undeniably compelling about Kreis's lyrics. They're often on the nose, but they have an irresistible quality that draws you in. The music is similarly captivating, shifting from Pentecostal hymns to country ballads with a Tori Amos-esque intensity.

The production itself is clever and resourceful, using minimal set changes to conjure up a world of drama and excitement. From the humble dressing room to the elaborate theatrical playground, every detail seems designed to serve the story rather than simply looking pretty.

Ultimately, "Already Perfect" is a testament to Kreis's talent and dedication as an actor and singer. He pours his heart and soul into every performance, creating a deeply personal connection with the audience that's hard to shake off. It may not be the most nuanced or sophisticated show, but it's undeniably honest – and that's something to be admired.

I gotta say, I'm skeptical about this "Already Perfect" musical thing 🤔. It sounds like a bit too on-the-nose for me - all that emotional heavy-handedness can be overwhelming. And don't even get me started on the lack of subtlety in the storytelling style 🙄. But at the same time, I kinda want to see it to understand what all the fuss is about 🎭. Levi Kreis's performance sounds pretty raw and honest, which is definitely commendable 💯. And if the music can pull me in despite its on-the-nose approach, that'd be a win for me 🎵. Still not convinced it'll be perfect (no pun intended 😉), but I'm curious to give it a shot 👀.

The music is catchy, the story is real (no pun intended), and Levi's performance is just WOW 😍. I love how raw and honest the show is - no sugarcoating here! It's not for everyone, I get that, but if you're looking for something to make you feel all the feels, then "Already Perfect" is the way to go ❤️.

🤗 I can totally relate to Levi Kreis's character in "Already Perfect". I've been there too with my own struggles and self-doubt. It takes a lot of courage to bare your soul on stage like that, you know? 🌟 The way he conveys his emotions is so raw and honest, it's like we're watching our own inner monologue come alive on screen (or in this case, on stage). And I love how the show isn't afraid to go big with its emotional impact - sometimes you just need a loud and clear message to get through to your heart. The production is so clever too, using every detail to tell the story in a way that feels super intimate. It's like Levi is having a conversation with us, sharing his thoughts and feelings in a way that feels both vulnerable and relatable 🤗

I'm loving the raw emotion on stage! Levi Kreis is giving me all the feels 🤯, his vulnerability is so captivating I'm like "dude, stop being so honest" 😂 But seriously, the way he portrays his inner turmoil is real talk – it's easy to relate to as an audience. The music is on point too 🔥, that Tori Amos vibe is giving me chills 🎶. And can we talk about the production? Minimal set changes and clever staging are always a win in my book 👏. It's refreshing to see a show be so unapologetically honest, even if it's not perfect (no pun intended 😉). Levi Kreis is killing it out there, I'm rooting for him all the way 🤞

I think "Already Perfect" is like, really brave of Levi Kreis to put his demons out there on stage 🤯. The show might hit you over the head with its emotions, but in a weird way, it feels kinda necessary to confront them head-on 💔. I mean, we all have our own struggles, and sometimes it takes a bold step like this to talk about 'em honestly. The music's catchy, and Kreis's vulnerability is super relatable – I found myself feeling his pain and excitement at the same time 🎶. It's not always easy to watch, but I think that's what makes it so impactful 👏. Overall, "Already Perfect" feels like a true reflection of Kreis's journey, and that's something to be proud of 💕.

I just got back from the most amazing vacation in Tokyo 🗺️, and I'm still reeling from the food coma 😋. Have you ever tried ramen at 3 am from a street cart? Game. Changer. 🍜👌 The noodles were so good, I think I might have cried tears of joy 💧. Anyway, back to Broadway... I'm not sure about this Levi Kreis guy, but his music is giving me major Taylor Swift vibes 🎶. And those Pentecostal hymns? Wow, who knew church music could be so emotive? 🙏

I just saw "Already Perfect" on Broadway 🎭 and I'm still reeling from Levi Kreis's raw performance 🤯! The way he dives headfirst into his past demons is so unflinchingly honest it's almost uncomfortable 😳, but in a good way? Like, you can't look away from the train wreck even if you want to. The dialogue might be a bit too on-the-nose at times ⚠️, but that vulnerability and emotional intensity are just so infectious I'm here for it 💖! And can we talk about the music?! It's like Tori Amos had a country-twanged baby 🎶. Overall, "Already Perfect" is a powerful exploration of self-discovery and growth that'll leave you feeling all the feels 😭.

I love how the show tackles its tough stuff head-on, even if it's a bit heavy-handed sometimes... but honestly, that just makes it feel more real 🎭. And don't even get me started on the music - it's like Tori Amos and Dolly Parton had a baby and that baby grew up to be a musical genius 🤷‍♀️! The production is so clever too, I'm loving how they use minimal set changes to create this whole world of drama and emotion... it's just SO well done 💯. Levi's dedication as an actor and singer is seriously inspiring - he's pouring his heart out every night and it shows 🌟

I just watched "Already Perfect" on Broadway 🎭 and I gotta say, Levi Kreis is giving me all the feels 😩. The way he brings his own vulnerability to the stage is really raw and relatable... but at times, it felt like they were hitting you over the head with a sledgehammer 🤯. Like, I get it, it's about his past demons, but some subtlety wouldn't have hurt 😅. Still, the music was super catchy and the production was clever 🎨. I think what really stood out for me was how honest Kreis is being with himself and the audience... even if it means going all in on the emotions 💖.

I just saw this new musical "Already Perfect" on Broadway and I gotta say, Levi Kreis is totally owning it 💥! His portrayal of his younger self is so raw and real, you can't help but feel like you're getting a front-row seat to his innermost thoughts 🤯. And yeah, the story can be a bit much at times - I mean, it's like they're hitting you over the head with all these emotions 😩 - but there's something about Kreis's lyrics that just draws you in and makes you wanna keep watching. The music is insane too! I loved how they incorporated different styles to match his growth as a character 🎶. And let's be real, the production values are on point 🤩. It may not be perfect (no pun intended), but Kreis's passion and dedication shine through in every performance 💫.

I just watched "Already Perfect" on Broadway 🎭 and I gotta say, Levi Kreis's performance was MIND-BLOWING!!! 😲 He's so raw and vulnerable on stage, it's like you're watching a private moment of his life. The music is catchy and the lyrics are on point - sometimes a bit cheesy but in a good way 😉. What really stood out to me was how unapologetic he is about his past struggles. It's like he's saying "yep, I've been through this crap and it's still affecting me" without any sugarcoating 🤷‍♂️. The production itself is clever too - minimal set changes but maximum impact! 🎨

I gotta say, I'm kinda torn about "Already Perfect" 🤔. On one hand, Levi Kreis is super talented and brings this raw emotion to his performance that's really hard to deny. He has a way of making you feel all the feels, even when it's painful to watch. The production itself is clever and resourceful, using minimal set changes to create drama.

But on the other hand, I think the show's bold storytelling style can be a bit too much at times 🤯. It's like they're hitting you over the head with a sledgehammer, spelling everything out for you. It takes away from the subtlety and nuance that makes a good story truly great.

Still, there's something about Kreis's lyrics that just draws you in 💔. They're on the nose, I know, but there's an irresistible quality to them. And the music? 🎵 That Tori Amos-esque intensity is infectious! Overall, I think "Already Perfect" is a testament to Kreis's talent and dedication, even if it's not the most sophisticated show out there 😊.
