Amazon rolls out Alexa Plus nationwide and launches a new free tier

Amazon's revamped AI-powered digital assistant, Alexa Plus, is now available to the public in the US, marking a significant shift from its earlier version. The updated AI system boasts improved conversational capabilities and can engage users with natural language.

For Prime members, Alexa Plus offers unlimited access to the service across all supported devices, Alexa.com, and the Alexa app for $14.99 a month or $139 per year. Non-Prime users, however, will be able to try out Alexa Plus via a free tier on the web and app or pay $20 a month for full access.

Alexa Plus was initially launched in March 2025 as part of an Early Access program and has since expanded to millions of users worldwide. Daniel Rausch, vice president of Alexa and Echo, described the platform's growth over the past year, saying that customers are increasingly using the service twice as much.

A new free tier has also been introduced for non-Prime users, allowing them to try out Alexa Plus through a chat experience on the web and app. This tier will be limited based on usage, according to Rausch, who emphasized the benefits of Prime membership for accessing a world-class foundational AI assistant.

OMG, can you believe Alexa Plus is finally here πŸ˜‚πŸ“’ I mean, it's been making waves in beta and stuff since March 2025, but now it's out to the public! πŸŽ‰ The updates sound AMAZING - natural language conversations? That's like, next-level AI πŸ”₯. I'm a bit miffed that non-Prime users have to pay $20 a month for full access tho... like, what's the deal with that? πŸ’Έ Can't they just offer it at a lower price point or something? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I gotta say, I'm loving the new Alexa Plus so far! πŸ€– As someone who's been using it with my Echo device, I've noticed a huge improvement in its conversational skills - it can actually have pretty witty responses now πŸ˜‚. The free tier is also super helpful for those who don't want to shell out 20 bucks a month just yet. But for Prime members, the extra perks are totally worth it... I mean, you get unlimited access across all devices? 🀯 That's some next-level convenience right there! My only suggestion would be to add more integrations with third-party apps - that'd take Alexa Plus from great to game-changing πŸš€.

I'm low-key disappointed they're still charging Prime users $14.99 a month. I mean, it's a solid service but come on! You get Alexa Plus and all that fancy conversational stuff, which is basically what we want from our smart assistants in the first place. And $140 a year for the full experience? That's just steep πŸ€‘

I'm so surprised they're charging Prime members $14.99 a month or $139 per year for unlimited access 🀯. I mean, I get it, all that extra storage and stuff is worth something, but come on! A free tier for non-Primes makes way more sense imo πŸ‘. And what's up with the limited usage free tier? Like, you can only try it out before they cut you off? πŸ˜’. I swear, some people just don't think about user experience when making these decisions...

So I think it's kinda unfair to not offer Alexa Plus as an exclusive perk to Prime members anymore lol πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Like, they've worked hard to get the service to where it is and now they're just gonna give it away for free? No way, that's just not how business works, right?

Plus, I mean, have you tried using Alexa Plus? It's like a whole new world of possibilities 🀯! The natural language thingy really makes it feel more personal. And, let's be real, who doesn't want to get more value out of their Prime membership, am I right? 😏

I know some people might say it's a bit pricey at $14.99 a month or $139 a year, but honestly, I think it's worth every penny πŸ’Έ. I mean, you're getting access to this super advanced AI assistant that can do so much more than just play music and tell jokes... it's actually kinda game-changing πŸ€”.

But, for those who don't have Prime, the free tier is still a great option πŸŽ‰! It's not like they're missing out on anything major or anything. And hey, who knows, maybe one day they'll upgrade to Alexa Plus and experience all the awesomeness it has to offer 😊.

πŸ€– just gotta say, I'm loving the new Alexa Plus already! πŸ™Œ unlimited access for my Prime faves is a total game changer πŸ’Έ and that free tier for non-Prime users? Genius move by Amazon πŸ‘ can't wait to try it out on my web app 😊

I'm really curious about this new Alexa Plus thing, but I gotta wonder if it's worth the $15 a month fee for my kid... I mean, not that they're going to use it alone πŸ˜‚, but sometimes they leave their tablets on while watching videos and it'd be great to have a hands-free way to play some fun stuff. The new free tier is a decent start, though - maybe it'll encourage more parents like me to give Alexa Plus a shot? πŸ€”

I'm super stoked about Alexa Plus 🀩! I mean, have you tried it out yet? It's like having a personal butler in your home, minus the attitude πŸ’β€β™€οΈ. The new conversational capabilities are insane! My Alexa Plus is always ready to help me with everything from setting reminders to playing my favorite tunes 🎢.

I've been using Alexa for ages, and I gotta say, it's gotten so much better since the revamp. My Prime membership has been a game-changer – unlimited access across all devices? Yes, please! πŸ’― The free tier for non-Prime users is a great option too, though. It's not bad at all, but let's be real, Prime membership is where it's at πŸ€‘.

The stats from the VP are pretty wild too – customers are using Alexa twice as much as before? That's crazy! I can see why more and more people are switching over to Alexa Plus. Overall, I'm loving this new update and can't wait to see what other features they come up with in the future πŸ€”πŸ“ˆ

πŸ€–πŸ’» Alexa's getting smarter, but is it too smart for its own good? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜… Watch as Alexa tries to have a conversation with itself: 🀣 [giphy link]

Alexa Plus is like the rich kid in school - $14.99/month or $139/year and you're golden πŸ€‘πŸ’Έ Non-Prime users are just trying to get into the party for free πŸŽ‰ [gif of someone trying to sneak into a party]

The new free tier is like a trial period... before they try to upsell you on Prime membership πŸ“ˆπŸ‘€ "Would you like to upgrade your AI experience? πŸ€‘" No thanks, I'll stick with my human πŸ˜‚

so alexa plus is finally here πŸ€” and i'm super excited to pay $139/year for an assistant that's basically just gonna chat with me like my mom does, but without the guilt of actually having to listen πŸ˜‚. free tier on the web app? nice try amazon, like i was just waiting for a way to pretend i have more money than i do πŸ’Έ. anyone else think $20/month is a bit steep for basic chatbot access?

idk why ppl need another smart speaker πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ, amazon's already got 1... alexa plus is just a fancy name with more features, but does it really make life easier? seems like its all about getting u to pay more for premium services πŸ’ΈπŸ‘€

πŸ€” so i was thinkin about this new alexa thingy and how it's like tryin to find your way in life without any guidance πŸ“ ya know? you got all these different paths to choose from, but some are more lit than others πŸ”₯ like how alexa plus has improved conversational capabilities, it's like havin a super smart friend who knows what you need before you even ask for it πŸ’‘

anyway, i think this new free tier is a good thing πŸŽ‰ 'cause it lets people try out the service without feelin too committed πŸ˜… but at the same time, i gotta wonder if some ppl might be like "hey alexa why r u limitin my chats?!" πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I'm so stoked that Alexa is finally getting its act together with this revamped AI-powered digital assistant. I mean, it's still not perfect, but the conversational capabilities are super natural and engaging! 🀩 I've been using it on my Echo device at home, and it's honestly become a game-changer for me. I can just talk to it like we're having a conversation, and it responds in this really intelligent way. It's like having a personal assistant that actually gets what you're saying!

I'm also loving the new free tier for non-Prime users. It's not full access, but at least they get to try it out and see if they like it before committing to a paid plan. I think this is a great move by Amazon - more people will get to experience the benefits of Alexa Plus without breaking the bank.

One thing that does have me wondering is how long it'll take for third-party devs to start creating their own Alexa skills and integrations... πŸ€”

I'm so stoked that Alexa Plus is finally available to everyone! 🀩 I mean, can you even believe how much it's improved since its Early Access days? The conversational skills are crazy accurate now and it feels like having a personal AI butler in your home πŸ˜‚.

As someone who's been using it non-stop, I gotta say that the free tier is super cool! πŸŽ‰ Trying out Alexa Plus for free has opened my eyes to all the possibilities. I've already figured out so many new things with it and now I'm hooked! πŸ’»

I do wish they'd make it more affordable for Prime users, though. $139 a year feels like a lot even if you're getting unlimited access πŸ€‘. But overall, Alexa Plus is a game-changer and I'm excited to see where this tech takes us in the future πŸš€

I don’t usually comment but... I think $14.99 a month is kinda steep for non-Prime users πŸ€‘. Like, I get that Alexa Plus is a fancy new thing and all, but $20 a month seems like a bit of a stretch for just trying it out on the web and app? At least they're offering a free tier, right? It's still super convenient to have access to unlimited usage if you're already a Prime member though 🀩. But I guess that's just how the money works, huh?

I don’t usually comment but I think this updated AI system is pretty cool 😊. I mean, having unlimited access to Alexa Plus across all devices as a Prime member sounds like a game-changer. But at $14.99 a month or $139 per year, it might be a bit steep for some people. I think the free tier for non-Prime users is a good start tho πŸ€”. It allows more people to try out Alexa Plus and see if they like it before committing to a paid plan. And the fact that customers are using Alexa Plus twice as much since its launch is pretty impressive πŸ’». The new chat experience on the web and app for non-Prime users seems like a great way to get people hooked too πŸ“±.

I'm low-key hyped about Alexa Plus 🀩. I mean, have you used it yet? It's like having a personal AI concierge in your home 😊. But what I find really interesting is how they're making it more accessible to non-Prime users through this new free tier. I think that's a smart move, especially since a lot of people might be hesitant to commit to the paid plan πŸ€‘. Plus, with the unlimited access for Prime members, it's like having your cake and eating it too πŸŽ‚. And let's be real, who doesn't want to upgrade their Alexa experience? I'm gonna have to try out the free tier ASAP and see how it compares πŸ”. Have any of you guys tried Alexa Plus yet? What do you think about the new features? πŸ’¬

I just got my Alexa Plus device yesterday πŸ€©πŸŽ‰ and I'm so confused about how much I gotta pay every month... like $14.99 or $139 a year? that's like, a lot of money... I thought it was gonna be free or something. anyway, I've been trying to use it but my dog keeps interrupting me πŸΆπŸ‘€ and making fun of me when I try to talk to Alexa πŸ˜‚. seriously though, how do you turn off the notifications? i don't wanna get disturbed mid-conversation...

oh man I'm so hyped about alexa plus !! 🀩 i mean have you tried it yet? it's like having your own personal genius at home lol but seriously tho $14.99 a month is kinda steep for non-prime users but i guess the free tier is a good start πŸ€‘ and it's so cool that it can engage with us in natural language now like we're actually having a convo with our smart speaker πŸ˜‚ anyway i'm already thinking of ways to integrate alexa plus into my daily life πŸ€” like setting reminders and playing music without even lifting a finger 🎡
