Antioch man charged with attempting to murder 11-year-old girl he allegedly shot in the head

A 23-year-old Antioch man has been slapped with multiple charges in connection to a harrowing incident where he allegedly fired shots at an 11-year-old girl, leaving her critically injured. The incident occurred on January 5th as the young girl rode with her family in a car on Delta Fair Boulevard when Hardy opened fire from a nearby location.

In a shocking turn of events, police have revealed that Hardy initially mistook a member of the girl's family for his intended target and unleashed a hail of bullets at the vehicle. Miraculously, none of the car occupants were related to the man he had mistakenly targeted, raising serious questions about Hardy's judgment and actions.

The young girl suffered a devastating headshot in the attack but was rushed to hospital in Oakland where she is expected to make a full recovery. The swift response by medical staff undoubtedly saved her life.

Hardy turned himself in on January 12th after his image became a household name, sparking widespread public concern. In light of this, police warned that anyone harboring him would be pursued by law enforcement and face serious consequences.

With Hardy's arrest, authorities have secured a significant breakthrough in the investigation, and prosecutors have filed multiple charges against him, including attempted murder and assault with a firearm for each of the victims on board the vehicle. Despite Hardy not having entered a plea yet, he remains jailed awaiting trial.

🤔 I think this whole situation is just so messed up. Like, what's going through someone's mind to even fire shots at an innocent kid? 🚫 And then to make matters worse, they misjudge the target entirely and almost kill a random family member by mistake... that's like, a level of incompetence or recklessness I don't think I've seen before.

And can we talk about how this kid got so close to death because of someone else's negligence? 🚑 I mean, the fact that she made it out with just a headshot is still mind-boggling. The thought of her going through that trauma and potentially living with PTSD or something is really heartbreaking.

I'm glad Hardy turned himself in and everyone involved is being held accountable for their actions. But like, what's the real issue here? Is it just a case of someone losing control or was there some underlying issue that led to this? 🤝

😱🚨 can u believe this dude was firing shots at an 11-yr-old girl?! like what's wrong with him? 😡 his initial mistake is wild too, gotta question his whole mindset 🤯 anyway, glad the little girl made it out alive after that 💪 but seriously, anyone who fires a gun randomly needs help ASAP 🤝 they need to sort out their issues before they hurt someone else 🚫 hopefully he gets the justice he deserves and turns into a productive member of society 🌞

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this incident 🤯... like what was going through that guy's mind?! Firing shots at an 11-year-old girl just because you thought she was someone else is just crazy talk 😱. And for him to think it was an accident, like the girl and her family were just some random targets 🚗😨. I mean, we all make mistakes, but this is a whole different level of recklessness. The fact that he turned himself in after his image went viral shows he's trying to face consequences, which is good 👍... now let's focus on the girl's recovery and making sure something like this never happens again 💪.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... like, what's wrong with people? 🤯 This kid fires shots at an 11-year-old girl just because he mistook her family member for someone else?! And then he expects us to believe that it was all a huge misunderstanding? 😒 It's not right. The fact that the police said they didn't know who Hardy targeted first is crazy - it should be obvious that shooting at a car full of people is wrong, no matter who you think might be on board.

I'm so glad the little girl is going to be okay though... her life was literally saved by good medical care. 🙏 And poor family member... I hope they're doing well too. This whole situation just makes me really angry, but not in a good way - more like 'why can't people just get along?' kind of angry 😡.

This is like something straight outta a conservative "tough on crime" platform 🚔💥 But seriously though, can we really say that's what's happening here? The guy was clearly off his rocker and made one huge mistake - mistakes happen, even to the best of us 🤦‍♂️. What I'm saying is we should be having a conversation about mental health resources in our communities, not just throwing the book at some young dude who got a bad break 📚💸. And let's talk about this "swift response" by medical staff - what about the systemic issues that led to Hardy even being able to get his hands on a gun in the first place? We need to be having a bigger conversation about gun control and community safety, not just reacting with punishment 💪🔫.
