Apple TV pulls The Hunt over plagiarism accusation

Apple has pulled its French thriller series "The Hunt" from its streaming platform after a plagiarism accusation. The move comes following a complaint made by French media journalist Clément Garin, who claimed that the show closely follows the 1974 novel "Shoot" by Douglas Fairbairn.

As a result, Gaumont, the production company behind "The Hunt", has confirmed that it will not be airing the series on Apple TV as planned. The company stated that it is conducting a thorough review of its production to address any intellectual property concerns. This decision has led to the postponement of several other shows scheduled for release on the platform.

For those unfamiliar, "The Hunt" follows Franck and his friends who encounter hostile hunters during a trip in the woods. Meanwhile, Fairbairn's novel "Shoot" tells the story of an ultra-macho hunter named Rex whose hunting party is attacked by rival hunters.

This incident highlights Apple's commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and its efforts to avoid potential copyright infringement cases. The company has faced similar scrutiny in recent years over various content-related issues, including the removal of certain shows from its platform due to licensing disputes or other concerns.

In a related development, another show scheduled for release on Apple TV, "The Savant", also appears to have been postponed. This series follows an investigator who tries to infiltrate online hate groups to prevent domestic terrorism attacks.

It remains unclear at this time how these incidents will impact the future of content offerings on Apple TV, but they serve as a reminder of the importance of intellectual property protection in the media industry.

I'm not surprised about this 🤔... I mean, Apple's been really cracking down on copyright issues lately and it seems like they're being super cautious. I don't blame them, though - if they get sued over some shady TV show, it could be a PR nightmare for the company. But at the same time, it feels like they're taking out a bunch of shows that aren't even sure-fire hits just to avoid any potential drama 🤑... like "The Savant" - I don't know what's so special about infiltrating online hate groups anyway 😒... and what's with all these thriller shows? Can't we just have some chill, feel-good content for a change? 🤷‍♂️

You know what's been bugging me lately? Those new planters for succulents I just got 🌱... I mean, have you seen how small they are?! It's like, if I'm gonna buy a planter, it should be big enough to hold at least 3-4 of my babies 😂. And don't even get me started on the prices! I swear, some companies just take advantage of us plant enthusiasts... anyway, back to Apple TV and all that drama 🤦‍♀️... guess they're really serious about protecting those intellectual property rights 💼.

OMG 🤯 I'm like totally surprised that "The Hunt" got pulled from Apple TV because of plagiarism 🤔 I mean, if you're gonna make a show based on someone else's work, shouldn't they at least give them some credit? Like, Clément Garin made this complaint and now the whole thing is getting held up... it's just so frustrating 😩 And to think that "The Savant" got postponed too? That's like, what even is going on over there 🤷‍♀️ I feel bad for the creators of those shows because they must be super anxious about all this 🤯

I'm so glad Apple is taking steps to protect their reputation by pulling "The Hunt" 🙄... I mean, it's not like they're trying to avoid any controversy or anything 😒. A plagiarism accusation? No big deal, just another day at the office 💁‍♀️. Gaumont really showed some courage by owning up to the mistake and reviewing their production process 🤦‍♂️. And now "The Savant" is also getting the axe... I guess that's what happens when you try to tackle a topic as sensitive as online hate groups 💔. Guess we'll just have to wait and see if Apple will come out on top in this whole intellectual property drama 🤺♂️.

just wonder what's the point of pulling it off Netflix anyway... 🤔 Apple seems to be taking a step back, which is good I guess. Can't have people exploiting others' work for clicks. 📊 On the other hand, shouldn't they just fact-check before releasing something? Either way, more shows getting postponed = less choice for us 🎥 Guess we'll see how this all plays out 👀

🤔 I always thought it was just part of doing business in entertainment, but now that Apple's pulling "The Hunt" from their platform over some plagiarism claims...I gotta wonder if all this fuss is worth the risk 🤑. I mean, I get why they wanna protect those IP rights, but it seems like it's causing more headaches for creators and viewers alike. And what about the shows that got postponed? Will we ever see them? 📺 It just goes to show how fragile the whole content landscape can be...and how important it is to get that balance right 😊

🤔 just when i thought apple was gonna finally get its layout game on point... now it seems like they're focusing more on IP rights than a well-designed user interface 📺💻 i mean, what's next? Are they gonna make all their shows load from a separate webpage with a nice scroll bar? 🤷‍♂️ seriously though, this whole thing is kinda interesting. i wonder if they'll take this as an opportunity to revamp their app design and add some actual functionality, or if it'll just be more of the same old bland streaming experience 😐
