Ashleigh Plumptre: 'I deeply hurt people by moving to Saudi Arabia'

I gotta say, it's a bit surprising that attendances at these games are still so low, you'd think with all the big names coming over they'd bring more people out 😐. I mean, I get that Saudi Arabia's got some issues to deal with, but you'd think promoting women's football would be one of those things where everyone's on board 🤔. Like, 15,000 capacity is pretty small for a top division league - don't they need to make those stadiums more family-friendly or something? And the BBC Sounds podcast sounds like a great resource though 💡, gotta give 'em props for trying to keep up with the conversation around women's football 📊.

I'm not sure why they're relying on old girls like Ellen White and Jen Beattie to promote the league. Don't get me wrong, they're legends and all that, but can't they find some younger talent for once? 😒 I mean, it's 2025 and we should be seeing more of the newer generation taking center stage.

And yeah, attendances are still pretty low. It's not like there aren't enough women in Saudi Arabia who want to watch football or anything. Maybe if they could get some more community initiatives going on, like fan groups or school programs, that would help boost interest. That's what I think is missing from the whole thing. ⚽

can't believe the crowds are still so low 🤯, like what's the deal with that? i mean, we've got some top international players playing for these teams, but it's like they're invisible or something. and yeah, the gov has invested big time in women's sports, but you'd think that would bring more people to the games. maybe they need to get creative with promotions and stuff... 🤑

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole women's football thing 🤯. Back in my day, we used to watch men's games and get some excitement from it, but I guess times have changed now! It's awesome to see international players like Ellen White joining the SWPL, but honestly, I find it hard to believe that people still aren't showing up to these games in Saudi Arabia 🤔. 15,000 capacity stadiums? That's like a small high school stadium back home! 🏫 What's going on over there? Are they just not into it or something? The BBC podcast is cool though, got me hyped for the game 😎.

LOL at 15k capacity stadiums 🤣 think they're gonna get a full house with only international players like Ellen White joining the league? I mean, yeah it's great for the women's game, but come on, how many Saudi girls are actually interested in watching football?👀 and what's up with all the empty seats at these games? should be more community initiatives to get people hyped about SWPL 🤔
