Associated Press complains the Winter Olympics are too darn white

Ugh, I'm so tired of this stuff 🤯. Like, I get it, Sweden has a history of being super homogeneous, but that doesn't excuse not doing better for diversity in winter sports. Maryan Hashi's story is so relatable, you know? Feeling like an outsider just 'cause you're the only non-white person at the slopes? That's some harsh reality checks right there 😔.

But here's the thing - it's not just about including more people from different backgrounds, it's about addressing the systemic issues that prevent people from participating in the first place. Like, if someone can't afford proper equipment or access to slopes because they're living in a sketchy neighborhood, that's not just a sports problem, that's a community problem 🤝.

It's gonna take more than just a free ski program to fix this stuff, you know? It's gonna take investment, effort, and some serious soul-searching. But hey, at least they're trying, right? And if the AP is bringing it up, maybe that's the push Sweden needs to make some real changes 🙏.

awww, I can imagine how tough it must be for Maryan Hashi to feel like an outsider in a sport she loves 🤕... like, isn't that just so unfair that people get judged on their ethnicity and not on their skills? 😔... I'm sure it takes a lot of courage to speak out about those feelings and I hope more sports organizations start listening and taking action 💪... it's amazing that the Swedish ski federation is trying to make a change with initiatives like "Alla På Snö", but yeah, it's clear that it's not just about just doing something for PR 🙅‍♀️... it needs to be from the heart and really address those systemic issues 🤝...
