Australian Open Gets Underway with High-Stakes Matches

The highly anticipated Australian Open kicked off on Sunday, featuring top seeds and promising young players alike. British number one Emma Raducanu was set to face Thai player Mananchaya Sawangkaew in the night session, while Cameron Norrie took on Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in a nighttime matchup.

In the men's draw, Carlos Alcaraz, seeded first, was looking to make his mark against Adam Walton. Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka, another top seed, would face Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah from 8am on the Rod Laver Arena.

Action was also scheduled for the John Cain Arena, where British qualifier Arthur Fery would take on 20th-seeded Flavio Cobolli from midnight. Norrie and Bonzi were set to clash in the early hours of the morning at the 1573 Arena.

Meanwhile, Frances Tiafoe and Jason Kubler were among those competing before dawn, with their matches scheduled for after 4:30 am. Olga Danilovic also made her way onto the courts just before 5 am, facing off against Venus Williams in a highly anticipated matchup.

The order of play revealed that Michael Zheng would be taking on Sebastian Korda at 4:30 am, while Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova faced Zhuoxuan Bai from the same time slot. The tournament's schedule promised an exciting day ahead for tennis fans, with top seeds and promising young players vying for success in Melbourne.

The Australian Open will continue every day from midnight until night sessions begin at 8 am on the show courts.
