Baker Mayfield sends heated message to new Falcons HC Kevin Stefanski

Baker Mayfield Fires Back at Kevin Stefanski, Rekindling Old Wounds

The bitter taste of Cleveland's past still lingers for Baker Mayfield. The quarterback's acrimonious stint with the Browns, which ended in 2022, has left a lasting impression on him. Now that the Atlanta Falcons have hired former Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, Mayfield is ready to revisit those painful memories.

On social media, Mayfield retweeted a post suggesting Stefanski was left with a "dumpster fire" at quarterback during his time in Cleveland. However, instead of keeping the peace, Mayfield delivered a scathing response, targeting Stefanski for his alleged lack of communication after trading him to the Carolina Panthers in 2022.

"I failed is quite the reach, pal," Mayfield wrote. "Still waiting on a text or call from him after I got shipped off like a piece of garbage. Can't wait to see you twice a year, Coach."

This isn't the first time Mayfield has aired his grievances against Stefanski. During his time in Cleveland, Mayfield spent four and a half seasons under head coaches Freddie Kitchens and Stefanski. While Stefanski's 2020 season with the Browns yielded impressive results, including an 11-5 record and a playoff berth, things took a downturn during the following two seasons.

The tension between Mayfield and Stefanski has been building for years, and it appears that nothing will change now that they'll be facing each other twice a year. For Mayfield, who had all but written off his NFL career after leaving Cleveland, his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been a breath of fresh air.

Under coach Bruce Arians, Mayfield has become one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league over the past three seasons, earning two Pro Bowl selections and helping the Buccaneers reach the playoffs twice. Meanwhile, Stefanski's tenure as Falcons head coach is off to an uncertain start.

It seems that old wounds will continue to fester for both players, but only time will tell if their rivalry will be the defining factor in their respective careers.

🤔 I mean, can we just talk about how much drama this is bringing back from last year already? 🙄 Baker Mayfield's latest burn at Kevin Stefanski is just a reminder that some wounds are way too fresh to rekindle. But on the other hand, I love how honest he is - it takes guts to speak truth to power like that... even if it is via a tweet 📱. At the end of the day, though, it's all water under the bridge. They'll play each other twice a year and move on, right? 💪

I feel like this all started when Mayfield was a young buck in Cleveland and Stefanski was the hot new coach... 🤷‍♂️ I remember watching those games with my buddies and thinking, "This is gonna be interesting." Fast forward to today and it's like they're back at square one. 😒 Baker's still got some unfinished business to settle, but I'm kinda rooting for him - he seems like the underdog in all this. Still, Stefanski's got a tough road ahead of him as Falcons coach... 🤞

omg u can't make this up!!! baker mayfield just threw it right back at kevin stefanski like 10 yrs after they were even teammates!!! i'm living for the tea, btw stefanski should've kept quiet about trading mayfield and now he's getting roasted online Mayfield's career was basically non-existent after leaving Cleveland but now he's killing it with bruce arians & we can't forget those 2 pro bowl selections 🤯🔥

🤔 you know what really gets me about this whole thing? it's not even about the coaches or the teams they're playing for anymore... it's about how we hold onto grudges and perceived slights from the past. like, think about it - baker mayfield's been dwelling on this stuff for years now, and meanwhile, he's actually become a top-notch quarterback under a different coach. what's the real issue here? is it really about Stefanski's treatment of him in cleveland or is it just about how mayfield feels like he got wronged? 🤷‍♂️ it makes me wonder if we're more focused on proving others wrong than actually moving forward and growing as people...

🤦‍♂️ I mean, what's up with these guys? Baker Mayfield is still salty about getting traded from Cleveland and now he's dragging Kevin Stefanski back into it... like, dude, move on 🚫. Mayfield's had a solid run with the Buccaneers under Bruce Arians, but can't seem to shake off that Browns drama 💔. And Stefanski? He's just trying to get his team started, but yeah, old rivalries can be tough to overcome 🔥 [link to a podcast discussing NFL quarterback dynamics](https://www.podbean.com/podcast/2023-10-05/nfl-quarterback-dynamics/)

I gotta say, Baker Mayfield can air his grievances all he wants, but at the end of the day, it's not about who's right or wrong, it's about what's gonna happen on the field 🏈. I mean, Stefanski's got a new team now and Mayfield's trying to prove himself again, so it'll be interesting to see how all this plays out. But honestly, Baker's just rehashing old stuff - we've seen him talk trash before, what's different now? It's all just hype 🤔. Can't wait for the games though, that's what matters 💪

Ugh what's up with these QBs? 🤯 Baker Mayfield just fired back at Kevin Stefanski and I'm like yeah this is gonna be a thing now 🤪. I don't get why they can't just move on, it's all water under the bridge, right? 🌊 It's like, Stefanski traded him to Carolina and Mayfield's still salty about it? 🤷‍♀️ And now they're gonna face each other twice a year, it's just gonna be drama drama drama 📺. I feel bad for Falcons fans though, their coach is just getting roasted left and right 🔥. Can't wait to see how this all plays out, but let's be real, it's not gonna be pretty 😂
